Jay-Z is close to being sued by the nephew of Egyptian composer Baligh Hamdy over his use of a sample in his 2000 song “Big Pimpin’.”According to Rolling Stone, the song was licensed to Hova, but Hamdy’s family claims that that he “mutilated” it, which according to Egyptian copyright law, required further permission.
The Egyptian singer’s nephew, Osama Ahmed Fahmy, is looking for a cut of Jay-Z’s revenue for the song, as well as some of his concert earnings. –Rahim Wright

Michael Jackson

Although we learned just this week about the cyber-attack resulting in the theft of Michael Jackson master recordings, Sony was aware of the incident last May. Before the month was out, Scotland Yard had arrested two suspects, who were officially charged in September and pleaded not guilty to the charges on Friday. The trial for 26-year-old James Marks and 25-year-old James McCormick has been set for next January. –Mike

Rashid Hadee – Album Review Trailer for Aural Sex: The Search For Pinky Tuscadero

Honest Management presents an album review trailer for the new album by Rashid Hadee: Aural Sex: The Search For Pinky Tuscadero. As we enjoy seeing our visual campaign make to it’s fifth release (a bigger feat than you’d believe), we wanted to take the time to highlight some of the cool things that were said in favor of this release. No major or independent label, much less a management company, has tried to pull off such an ambitious visual marketing campaign. Lord willing we’ll accomplish our goal but so far so good. We want to thank all of the blogs who’ve supported Rashid Hadee and the movement that is Honest Management. Continue to love quality Hip Hop music. To much is given, much is appreciated. – Greg “Olskool Ice-Gre” Lewis | Founder

London Ivy // Rack City Freestyle

London Ivy follows up the release of his smash single ‘Everybody Clap’ (feat Wizzy Wow) with a new refix of Tyga’s ‘Rack City’. Going in for two and a half minutes, Ivy drops a collection of punches and proves he’s ready to claim the title as a UK heavyweight in 2012.

Born in 1988 of a Caribbean and European heritage, Ivy discovered his love for music at just 10 years of age, singing in a choir at his local church on a weekly basis. Little did he know that these humble beginnings would see music become a main focal point in his life, and lead to a varied and fruitful career in entertainment years down the line.

During his early teens, Ivy formed part of various musical groups and crews, aligning himself with the likes of recent Universal Records signing Random Impulse, Wretch 32, D Dark, Frisco, Tippaly, Caps, Shocka (now a member of Marvel), Calibar and many other local rappers and artists. As a member of the revered music group Combo Chain Gang, Ivy dominated local pirate station ‘Heat FM’, collaborated with the likes of Ghetts and Scorcher, and appeared on several prolific DVD releases alongside international rap stars including the infamous Rick Ross.

Following his departure from Combo Chain Gang and the ensuing mainstream solo success of previous member Wretch 32, Ivy went on to form his current imprint, ‘R.O.S.E Music Group’, alongside longtime friends and business partners Wizzy Wow, Tippaly, Makesa Malen and Shimmy Styles. Under this new imprint, Ivy released his critically acclaimed mixtape ‘The CrossOver’, and collaborated on various records alongside Wizzy Wow and Disturbing London rapper GFrSH. 2011 also saw Ivy partner with a close relative to launch his clothing line ‘Cloud 9′, which forms the final piece of his varied creative jigsaw.

The only problem — it wasn’t true. Later Lumidee set the record straight, tweeting, “I did not sign a deal with anyone!! Sorry for the false info corny ass people HAD access to my page.”
