Lil Wayne had this interesting revelation to make about the cover art of his upcoming album, “I Am Not a Human Being II”. The album has a release date of March 26th.
“[Kanye] said, you know, man, let me do your cover. I saw the cover and I approved it. He had an explanation behind it – he said, he chose the moth butterfly thing because it has so many different stages of life, and it goes through so many forms and changes, and no one can figure it out, and it’s always beautiful. At a time it’s ugly and at a time it’s beautiful too. And that’s me.”
Kanye’s love-hate affair with twitter continues; he’s back on the social networking site after a brief sabbatical. His last tweet before his most recent ones were on January 7th. He tweeted single word tweets – truth, beauty, minimalism, emotion, soul, awesomeness, functionality.
Obviously he admires these attributes wherever they fit. What is functional music BTW? Doesn’t seem to matter for his more than 9.1 million fans on twitter. And who does Yeezy follow? Why, his beloved Kim of course!
The artist had deleted all the tweets he had made last year. I guess, if you’re a celeb then your fans will put up with such idiosyncrasies with ease.
Kanye may have won 18 Grammys in all, albeit according to him these are “Black Categories” but he still seems to hold a grudge against the awards, he feels he’s been shortchanged.
Here is what he specifically said, midway through a performance at Revel in Atlantic City that came with the trademark Kanye outfits and energetic performance.
“I love Maroon 5, but when I lost for ‘Best New Artist’ to Maroon 5… Or when Watch The Throne and Dark Fantasy, neither of them got nominated for ‘Album of the Year,’ or when ‘Niggas in Paris’ didn’t get nominated for ‘Record of the Year’… So don’t expect to see me at the Grammys this year, you nah mean?!”
ASAP Rocky chatted up DJ Drama and for a change it wasn’t about music, but about fashion; kinda related and a cool thing to chat about. ASAP dropped the fact that he is dead sure about his sartorial elegance inspiring Kanye West.
But perhaps what was more interesting was what the up-and-coming rapper had to say about Lil Wayne’s dressing sense “I hate the way Lil Wayne dresses sometimes,” “The lime green Ugg boot thing? I didn’t like that but that’s his style. There’s people who probably hate the way I dress – not a lot – but a few people might hate the way I dress. That’s my style. At the end of the day, I’m not judging. They asked me my opinion, how I felt, and all I gave them was my feedback. He’s got way more money than me, way more successful so I can’t say nothing bad about him.”
The exclusive event hosted by Samsung at Manhattan’s Skylight to launch Galaxy Note 2 was made memorable by Kanye West and his pals who held stage for more than an hour and belted out chartbusters, both old and new.
Performers included French Montana, T.I., Meek Mill, Childish Gambino, Victor Cruz, Pauly D, and others. ‘ye spat lyrics from his newer material including “New God Flow,” “Mercy,” and “Clique,”. He then took the live crowd on a trip down memory lane with classics such as College Dropout, Graduation, and others.
The piece de resistance was definitely the artist bringing out 2 Chainz on ‘Birthday Song’.
RZA and company have begun creating buzz for the much anticipated album “The man with the iron fists” which debuts October 23rd and the film gets released on November 6th. We have for you here a catchy snippet of the number “White Dress” from the album performed by Kanye West.
Have a listen and let us know what your impressions are; mine are consistent with what good folks on the net are saying. Kanye has attempted a return to an earlier sound, classic Kanye.
The song is about a guy who wants to make a wife out of a girl from a night club, the kind of track which stokes the embers of family values in young listeners, this is how West puts it – “I seen you in the club in a tight dress, but I picture you in church with a white dress.”
G.O.O.D Music’s “Cruel Summer” debuted at number two on the charts behind Pink’s Truth About Love. Is that bad? Depends, because usually a Kanye West project does top the charts outperforming competition. In this case, the rapper’s latest effort sold 216K copies in the first week while Pink’s album crossed 280K units in sale.
Could it be that Cruel Summer took a hit because of the numbers on the album released even before the album came out? Whatever be the case, there are a slew of projects by artists from G.O.O.D Music coming up and there’s ample opportunity to make up for this lapse. Expected solo albums are from Big Sean, Pusha T, and Common.
Why do such things happen? No am not questioning the rights of mature adults to make home videos, but if it’s sensitive and private material, at least keep it under lock and key or password protected or whatever. Now, Kanye West has had a private video of him making out with a Kim Kardashian lookalike stolen.
Yeezy’s legal team has swung into action and in a written statement said “Be advised that the Screen Shot, as well as the Tape from which the Screen Shot was taken, were illegally obtained and believed to have been stolen from Mr. West’s computer and that your posting, advertising, marketing, displaying and otherwise disseminating the stolen Screen Shot and/or other materials on the Tape constitute actionable violations of Mr. West’s rights of privacy and publicity.”
The video, if Steven Hirsch, CEO of adult film company Vivid, is to be believed could be worth a couple of million dollars for whoever holds the rights. Let’s see where this goes. Will keep y’all posted.
