Wow, talk about being born with a silver spoon in your mouth. Jay Z and Beyonce reportedly splurged a cool $200K on their daughter’s first birthday party. Kind of reminds me of the scene from Pretty Woman when Richard Gere tells the store guy that “We’re here to spend an obscene amount of money”. This particular party was built around a princess theme and the roses alone cost $100,000. $80K went toward the gift, a diamond-encrusted Barbie doll. And then some more money for gifts for the little girl’s friends.
Don’t want to sound judgmental but that kind of money can educate a bunch of kids, feed a whole lot, give shelter to so many…this in my book is serious WTF.
The LIV nightclub at Miami is no stranger to stars on its premises but the supernovae from the world of hip hop that turned out last night really did turn on the heat at LIV; the glitterati had descended to celebrate heavyweight DJ Khaled’s birthday.
The guest list included Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Birdman, Diddy, Mack Maine, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Ace Hood, French Montana, Kirko Bangz, N.O.R.E., Timbaland and many others. Kanye and Lil even took to the stage to perform for their buddy. That was probably the nicest gift of all that the guys could give; any way, they sure had a blast signing off their Thanksgiving weekend in style.
Beyonce has posted some previously unseen pics of hers from her birthday that she, Jay, and lil Ivy Blue celebrated on a yacht cruising the Mediterranean and the south of France. These are sweet pics of a totally fresh-faced Beyonce without any makeup and at peace with herself.
Check out the images of the diva in a bikini and colorful top and then one in which she’s cutting the cake, a very private moment indeed. But my personal fav is that of the food, simple and delicious, yummy roasted chicken, champagne, and juicy strawberries.
Take a look and pic your favorite.
Tomorrow happens to be Big Pun’s birthday and it’s easy to make out that even after a decade since his demise it is touching to see how fondly the big guy is remembered. And he was big, not only physically but also metaphorically. His lyrical sense has rarely been equaled and I don’t think has ever been surpassed.
For his 41st b’day, close friend and Terror Squad partner Fat Joe wrote a touching letter that can be read at Vibe.
Here’s a part of it
Happy Birthday my brother! I wish you were here. We would have done it real big if you was here. I know we getting older now. We would have done it big with our families. The world is missing you. Still to this day, I haven’t heard a better rapper yet. God bless you.
