Sullee J – We Marched, Still [Spoken Word] – Black History Month Special Release

Sullee J is back with another “Spoken Word” this month. “We Marched, Still”. This piece reflects the struggles of a whole race and speaks on various scenario’s they had to battle in order to get where they are today.

In Sullee J’s own words “I wrote this to keep us awake, and always remember where we came from. I feel like a lot of us forget or get spoiled in the hype. At one point, we fought and died over school and earning the privilege to read a book. Today we shoot each other and die over material things like who has the newest Jordan’s? God puts us through things, but he also pulls us through them. He does this so, we can humble ourselves and appreciate what we have, not forget what we were granted!”

With that being said, I hope you can feature this on your page, as it is a message for the world! Remember where you came from!

Spoken Word: “We Marched, Still – By Sullee J”

Lyrics for the Spoken Word below:

We Marched,
Even though we fought hard
With hearts dark enough
To darken the stars,
We Marched, Still
Even when our fathers were lynched
And mothers convinced,
There youngn’s raped of there innocence
We Marched, Still
Even when the bright snow beat us
And the great white restrained to feed us
We had to walk miles for water
Hydration was heaven,
We question,
Oh Lord, are you sure you still need us?
We Marched, Still
Conquered by the myth in our hearts,
Real
Thinking we were doomed at birth,
We fought still
With nothing but dirt,
We carved steal
Barricaded on the same earth,
Today we oft chill
We Marched, Still
Died for generations,
Couldn’t feed our children knowledge
Books weren’t allowed penetration
In the minds of those who’s skin
Was, but even one percent,
Dark, still
We Marched, to kill
Destroy the forced niche
And eradicate the shovelers
Who dug us this poor ditch
And put limits on us
Because the pigment was so rich

Dunson (formerly Kenton Dunson) – Count On It (prod. by Phatboiz) : First Single off Upcoming Project

Washington, DC, February 14, 2012 — With his incredible ear for music, and his refreshing lyrical prowess, young, rising star Dunson is quickly proving himself a Sheppard in the sheepish world of Hip-Hop. With his career on the rapid incline, Dunson has released his debut single ‘Count on It” from his highly anticipated mixtape dropping this spring, entitled The Investment.

The single, produced by Grammy-nominated production trio Phatboiz (responsible for John Legend’s latest single “Tonight (Best You Ever Had)” featuring Ludacris, from the Think Like A Man movie soundtrack), features a sample from the popular Sesame Street animated pinball segment, Pinball Number Count, composed by Walt Kraemer and arranged by Ed Bogas, with vocals by the Pointer Sisters. The track is the perfect symmetry of grit, pop and funk, and is sure to garner mass appeal, with its grandiose lyrics and nostalgic vibe. Unlike many young artists today, Dunson brings a rarely found authenticity and hunger to his music, and this single epitomizes that ferocity. At first listen, Dunson’s vocals may remind you of J.Cole, with his colorful tone and energetic cadence; the way he marriages the soulfulness of the music with the rawness in his lyrics may remind you of Kanye; But Dunson’s star power lies in his versatility and likeability. You can count on him to bring you something fresh, relevant, and extra-ordinary every time, and this single is just that- a breath of fresh air.

About Dunson
Dunson resigned from his career in the investments industry to become a full-time artist in 2010. After spending a multitude of years playing in bands of different genres, the Maryland native, who is also a multi-instrumentalist, took the chance to become a solo artist focusing heavily on lyrics and production. He has since amassed a receptive, global fan-base, proven through hundreds of thousands of downloads of his self-produced Creative Destruction mixtape series, among other projects and collaborations.

As Dunson’s sound developed and evolved, it caught the ear of Grammy-nominated production team, The Phatboiz, with whom he developed a collaborative relationship. By the onset of 2012, Dunson had performed live to packed crowds at some of New York City’s most legendary venues, such as Highline Ballroom and S.O.B.s. Dunson’s genuine talent and tenacity has led to multiple collaborations and cosigns from industry veterans such as 9th Wonder, John Legend, and many others. Dunson is currently prepping his forthcoming March 2012 mixtape, entitled The Investment, which features several guest appearances, including multi-platinum selling artist John Legend and up and coming producer extraordinaire Mark Henry (Terror Squad).

[New Song] Ja Rule – Black Vodka (Album Version)

Here’s the album version of Ja Rule’s “Black Vodka” off of his much-anticipated album PIL2, set to release on February 28th.

As RollingStone.com explains it: “Black Vodka” is more reminiscent of traditional Ja fare, a female-friendly cut that draws the metaphor between a sexy woman and vodka with lines like “She goes down so smooth.”

Jay-z, Kanye West: Release “paris” Video

Jay-Z and Kanye West finally released their video for “Paris” today. As expected, the clip is a collage of their performances of the track at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It’s nothing plain, though — there are plenty of flashing lights and fancy camera tricks to keep you entertained. In fact, the beginning of clip flashes a warning that it may induce seizures.
You can check it all out on their VEVO channel. –Rahim Wright
