Ezemdi Chikwendu Releases New Album

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, April  28, 2011——EZEMDI, perhaps one of our most talented young musicians/singer/songwriters to surface in the music world (think  Grammy Award Winner, Esperanza Spaulding and this year’s American Idol  Casey Abrams)  has taken on the extraordinary challenge with his latest debut album  offering, BY YOUR SIDE (Crazze House Records) set for release  June, 14  2011. The first single, “Take Off ” will be serviced to Urban/R &B radio next month. The Boston-based  label is currently gearing up to launch, market and promote EZEMDI’S debut CD of romantic ballads and urbanized up and mid-tempo songs that  will lead the Nigerian-born entertainer to a possible Grammy Award Nomination for 2012.

Ezemdi Chikwendu was born April 24, 1986, in West Africa (Enugu, Nigeria). At the age of 4, he was brought to the U.S and adopted by his Aunt, Dr. Ruth Onukwue for medical reasons.  Due to his albinism, she wanted him to have the best medical treatment possible. She brought him to the U.S along with his mother, Elizabeth Chikwendu  who gave birth in the U.S to  Ezemdi’s younger brother, Enyichi Chikwendu. Due to his albinism, Ezemdi wasn’t allowed to be out in the sun very much.  “As a kid I use to hate that i couldn’t play with the other kids outside, i felt like i wasn’t normal and i wanted to be normal.  I hated all the extra attention I needed”. However, as time went on, instead of playing outside with the other kids he took to music.  His aunt noticed his interest in music and began to encourage him by buying various instruments like a piano, guitar, organ, and trumpet. Ezemdi learned how to play all of those instruments that Dr. Ruth gave him. By the age of 8, Ezemdi was already playing the piano with professional musicians for Sunday services at Bethel Gospel Assembly, in Harlem, NY.

As time went on, Ezemdi’s entire family eventually came to the U.S. and moved to Randolph, Massachusetts, where the now teenager attended Randolph High School. He began focusing on music by playing the grand piano in the school’s auditorium every opportunity he got. He also learned another instrument—the trombone, at the encouragement of his music teacher, Dave Barry. It was also in high school that Ezemdi experimented with his voice. He and two other friends formed a group that called themselves, TRUE TALENT, performing at school football & basketball games, talent shows and town events. After high school, Ezemdi attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music and formed a music licensing company, SPEAK E-Z MUSIC. While shopping for a music label, Ezemdi sign with Mark Geohagan of CRAZEE HOUSE RECORDS. Thus BY YOUR SIDE was born!

Ezemdi has been producing for several local artists as well as international artists.  He has done production for various acts such as Staxx, V.I.P Cassie Cardel, Bebe Rexha, Kim Morrrell, Jared Jones, Chidinma Okebalama etc. Chidinma is a Nigeria recording artist that Ezemdi has done some work with.  Songs like, “Show Me Your 32s”, and “Obimmo” are currently getting airplay in Nigeria.”

Ezemdi’s upcoming new CD BY YOUR SIDE , produced by the talented musician himself  and Mark Geohagan, with writing partners Jared Jones and J Sell , is an important musical offering for the Boston-based label. The young entertainer’s passionate and intimate delivery on this album will garner thousands of young adult   listeners who will appreciate his unique musicianship and contemporary vocal. BY YOUR SIDE is  a dazzling pairing of singer and material.

Mark Geohagan-CEO of CRAZZE HOUSE RECORDS and their marketing and promotional staff  are confident that  EZEMDI’S  CD will appeal to a younger demographic as well as the 18-24 music lover who listen to R&B, Neo-Soul recording artists. The music label is now preparing a creative marketing/promotion/internet campaign that will involve street promotion strategies in various markets, as well as an extensive national retail campaign for the CD. EZEMDI will go out on a six city promo tour this summer in support of the new single and album.

TECH N9NE’s STRANGE MUSIC DROPS NEW ALBUM DAMN FOOL!

(Los Angeles, CA) BIG SCOOB IS A DAMN FOOL! The “fool” has always balanced out the pride of the king. It’s no different with Strange Music founder Tech N9ne and his longtime buddy Big Scoob. Big Scoob is no ordinary fool, however, as his 26-track new album makes clear: he’s a Damn Fool. Who else but Scoob would describe his car as “shining like a can of root beer“?

“Growing up in the ‘hood in Kansas City, a damn fool, that was me!” says Big Scoob. “I’d stick to my whiskey bottle, go as hard as I wanted to. But now I’m seeing the effects of that over the long term, so I’m in a position to tell cautionary tales. Don’t worry, I got jokes!”

Damn Fool‘s standout tracks include bass anthem “DAMU”, a riotous posse cut featuring Jay Rock, Messy Marv, Skatterman & Bumpy Knuckles, and open-hand slapper “They DNT Want It” featuring Glasses Malone and Boogieman. “All I Kno Is Hood”, co-starring Scoob’s label-mate Krizz Kaliko, is uncut street gospel as Scoob raps: “Gang bang reppin’ the name, I’m from the soil/ rap game nuthin’ but flames, I got that oil/ gutter butter seepin’ and leakin’ like I’m a boil/ old school actin’ the fool, that Delta Royal!” .

Big Scoob and Tech N9ne grew up together in Kansas City, cliqued in the group 57th Rogue Dog Villains (RDVs for short), scoring a huge local hit with “Let’s Get Fucked Up”. In 2009, Big Scoob recorded his debut album Monsterifik for Tech’s label Strange Music. “When I let my personality out on tour, cats like Fat Joe and E-40 were howling and said ‘You a damn fool!’ Tech N9ne was watching and told me, ‘That’s what I want you to give people on this new album.’”

Set to appear on select dates of Tech N9ne’s All 6s & 7s tour starting in May, Scoob will serve his new cups-up anthems “Lemonade Delight” and “Drunk & Stupid” to fans young and old. “It’s party time!” enthuses Scoob. “And this Damn Fool says everyone’s invited.”

VAIN grew up with the intimate musical influences of his parents who were both members of bands back in the 80’s. VAIN recalls as a kid, his mother would make him perform Slick Rick songs at all family functions.  “The moment I knew folks were coming over, it was like a bell that rang in my head, asking, which song will I perform today?,” he chuckles.

After graduating high school in Queens, New York where VAIN was born and raised, he began working full time while continuing to aggressively pursue his music career. In 2004, VAIN’s father passed away and due to the loss, he channeled and refocused his energy into his music and has since been aggressively pursuing his musical career.

Inspired heavily by Hip-Hop music of the late 80’s and 90’s, VAIN admires artists such as NAS, Mobb Deep, Nature, and A Tribe Called Quest. In order to master his craft as a well-rounded artist, VAIN extensively immersed himself into developing his craft by listening to diverse records and pushing the envelope as an innovative writer. VAIN has mastered the lyrical balance of lethally fierce word play, witty social commentary, and poetic story telling. As he recollects, “eventually, I got nice and my first record touched radio in 2005.  It was a joint called, ’Toss Da Paper’.”

Describing his own musical style, VAIN stated, “I believe I come from an educated yet street point of view, where I’m giving people insight into life.  What I desire to accomplish through my music is to educate, inspire as well as entertain.  I think I write from the heart first and then the mind.  There is nothing in the entire world quite like performing and I simply can’t get enough of the euphoric musical high!” It is perfectly summarized in VAIN’s favorite quote, “music is an audio vibration of a person’s soul. ”

VAIN has opened for Hip-Hop artists including DMX, Fabolous, Foxy Brown, Corrupt and The Clipse. He has worked with some of Hip-Hop’s most sought after producers including Ryan Leslie, Teflon, P.F. Cuttin, Terrence Dudley, Jelly Roll and Fingers, just to name a few.

HIP-HOP ARTIST WAKA FLOCKA FLAME, CELEBRITIES & PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES TEAM UP WITH PRESERVE OUR LEGACY TO HELP SAVE LIVES OF ETHNIC PATIENTS

New York, NY – Many may believe that Hip-Hop Artist, celebrities and professional athletes do not care about their health or the community, however, one organization begs to differ – that is Preserve Our Legacy. When co-founder Shana Melius sent various request to various entertainers to participate in game to help save the life of Fort Worth native 1-year old Daylen Parrish, they all accepted without hesitation. Waka Flocka Flame and various professional athletes will participate in the “Got Bone Marrow” celebrity charity basketball game at Southern Methodist University (SMU) to benefit Preserve Our Legacy, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising awareness among various ethnic groups about the need for PBSC, bone marrow and umbilical cord blood donations.  The game will be April 30 at Moody Coliseum on the campus of SMU (6000 Airline Rd. Dallas, TX).  Tickets are available online at www.gotbonemarrow.eventbrite.com.
Daylen Parrish is the child who will benefit from the April 30 basketball game at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.  Twenty-month old Daylen is from Dallas’ neighbor city, Fort Worth Texas.  Daylen suffers from sickle cell anemia and is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant.  He has been admitted to the hospital 11 times in his first 18 months of life.
Dallas Mayor Dwaine Caraway and model Jessica Dystra will be coaching the Music Team, which includes Waka Flocka Flame, JD Williams from HBO’s The Wire, James Chippendale from Lovehopestrength.org, Gotti from Cash Money, Celebrity Psychologist/Photographer Efani Allah, Celebrity Jeweler Rafaello, Dallas Artist Tarzzahn and various other artists.  The Sports team will be coached by New York ABA Coach Michael Logan and surprise guest will include NFL player Antrel Rolle from the NY Giants, NFL Player Drew Coleman from the NY Jets, NFL player Bryan McCann from the Dallas Cowboys, former And1 player Hdache, Dallas Native Damian “D-Rob” Robinson former NFL player from NY Jets & Tampa Bay Buccs, NFL player Shaun Smith from the Kansas City Chiefs, and various players from various NFL teams and other professional sport teams.
The celebrity basketball game, which is being hosted by Preserve Our Legacy, a New York based nonprofit which advocates for minority patients who need stem cell or bone marrow transplants, is one of many such fundraisers the group has undertaken since helping to pass Jaden’s Law.  The group got involved with patient advocacy and education following the 2007 death of Jaden Hilton.  The law passed in 2010 in New Jersey and requires the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Service to provide an online brochure about PBSC and bone marrow donation.  New York Assemblyman Keith L.T. Wright introduced New York A4294 – Jaden’s Law and will be presenting a resolution naming May 3, 2011 “Bone Marrow and Umbilical Cord Blood Registration Day”, in honor of Jaden and Preserve Our Legacy, Inc.  “Our goal is to increase the numbers within the National Registry because there are so many variations through out numerous ethnic groups, it makes it hard to find a donor.  However, the more people that register, the better possibility for an ethnic patient to find a match.  We encourage people to register while attending our “edu-taining” events”, says Shana Melius, Co-Founder of Preserve Our Legacy.

V White & The Politician drop new video feat Casual

On the heels of their recent string of music videos for the Stimulus Package album, Oakland Rap duo V-White & The Politician continue their forward momentum with a new music video, “Panda” ft Casual (of Hieroglyphics).  This serves as the lead single from their upcoming album Gas Station, slated for release July 5,th 2011.  Staying in tune with their roots, they’ve deployed some of the Bay Area’s notable heavy hitters including The Jacka, Casual (of Hieroglyphics), Nio Tha Gift, MacShawn100, J Stalin, B-Legit, Messy Marv, Philthy Rich and more. The 18-track album is their ambitious undertaking to offer eagerly awaiting fans a cohesive full-length experience.

The black and white cinematography in “Panda” is a play on the concept of keeping things simple and fresh like the colors of the of duel  toned Panda bear. The video features a debut from Casual along with global performing turf dance group, Turf Feinz showcasing their unique style of fluid footwork and turf style contortion. Turf dancing and turf music a recognized art form and street culture, which V-White & The Politician incorporate into their music.

In the west coast rap world “gas” is a reference to “heat” in delivery of style and lyrics, so V-White & The Politician thought it only fitting to title their 18-track heat packed full length, Gas Station. The production on the album is a mix of Hip-Hop and funk, with elements of soul and understated melodies.  The album offers up feel good tracks that keep your head nodding, with moments of street-life story telling, and personal accounts of the loss of loved ones. The track “Can I” puts new school rappers J Stalin, Stevie Joe and Philthy Rich on an old school funk sounding production, while “Cocaine Music” featuring Macshwan100 (formerly on Death Row) and Messy Marv sheds light addictive habits and street life.

Having come off a stint of show dates with Too Short, V-White & The Politician show no signs of stopping any time soon with plans for more performance dates in support of Gas Station.  The fans are still reacting to Stimulus Package, with tracks like “California” ft Too $hort rotating on MTVJams and Music Choice, and radio support from KMEL.  The Oakland mainstays continue to stay current with their audience.

About the artists
V-White is best known as half of the Oakland act The Delinquents. After signing with major label Priority Records in the 90s, he released the classic widely recognized “Bosses will be Bosses” and “That Man.” He has also worked with hip-hop notables such as Snoop Dogg, Mack 10, Master P and Too $hort.

The two met through rap legend Too $hort more than eight years ago and have collaborated together since then as V-White & The Politician, Gas Station marks their third official album together as a group. Streets Can Vouch was their first group album released for free in the streets, and was the catalyst that cultivated their fanbase.

Boogie Down Rapper Hakim Releases Eye-Popping New Video For “Baby Shake That Thing”

The young MC from the Boogie Down Bronx is proud to release his music video for the first single off his independent CD debut “Unlimited Presents Hakim”.  “Baby Shake That Thing” is a club banger ode to the ladies and their dance moves.  The video features the handsome Hakim and ladies doing what they do best, dancing to his beats.

The video is an eye popper to say the least and is a true testament to the lifestyle of late nights and clubbing.  Hakim is on fire repping today’s most def, blinging looks and is accompanied by some of the hottest females on the scene.  The video will definitely get you in the mood to get up out of your seat and go out to have a good time and shake that thing.
Hakim’s distinctive style of rapping is highlighted on his new CD.  The CD was produced in large part by Kbar Productions.  Hakim chose to utilize his talent and creativity to express himself through his love of music rather than take to the streets like many other young Bronx residents have.  In 1998, as a teen he formed a rap duo with childhood friend Strategy called Unlimited.  The two enjoyed local success, even wowing the toughest audience on the planet, when they performed at the world famous Apollo Theater.  As fate would have it, Hakim became a solo act with his duo partner went to prison, cutting that affiliation short of stardom.  Even today, Hakim credits Strategy with being the catalyst that ignited his hip-hop fire.

Hakim has survived the street, having been both shot and stabbed, he is an insightful wordsmith who imbues his lyrics with reality, both good and bad.  He prides himself on being street smart and educated and both of these aspects make him a force to be reckoned with.  He knows what he wants and has the tools to get them.  He has also had some experience in modeling and acting and hopes to explore these areas in the future, however in the mean time; he uses all these talents in his new video.

The video is your first look at Hakim, but it certainly will not be the last.  His skills, looks and on-the-edge creativity are apparent in every aspect of the video.  It is definitely a video that people will be buzzing about.
