Performing Producer Slakah the Beatchild releases “B-Boy Beef” with Adds on Much Music and MTV Canada

Toronto, ON, August 31, 2010 — Last week, Slakah the Beatchild released his amazing and insightful two-part EPK documentary on Youtube which features rare footage from this Summer’s “Vibe, Love, Smile” tour alongside Swedish Grammy Nominee Tingsek and Juno Nominee Ebrahim, as well as a sneak peek at his latest video “B-Boy Beef”. This week, “B-Boy Beef” makes its official debut with adds on MuchMusic, PunchMuch, MuchCountdown, MuchMoreMusic, MuchMoreCountdown, MuchLoud, MTV2, MuchVibe and MuchMusic.com.

Director Marc Andre Debruyne (videodirector.ca) of The NE Inc. (www.thene.ca) brought the unique concept of “B-Boy Beef” to life by embodying the line in the song which declares: “we came here to have a good time, B-Boy Beef ain’t on our minds”.  Set in a club in the late 1970′s with B-Boys dressed in button-downs and neckties, and cameos from Canadian R&B talents Divine Brown, Melanie Durrant and Maya Chilton, B-boying is highlighted like never seen before with a phenomenal dance scene featuring B-Boys and B-Girls from crews Ground Illusions and Twisted Ankles. Even Slakah the Beatchild himself gets in on the b-boying action with an incredible move that has to be seen to be believed!

Although “B-Boy Beef” is the final single from Slakah the Beatchild’s Soul Movement Vol. 1, fans won’t have to wait long for new music from the multi-talented Performing Producer.  September 2010 will see the release of Something Forever, a 7-track EP on BBE Music; label home of Super-Producers J.Dilla, Pete Rock and Wil.i.am. Also forthcoming is The Other Side of Tomorrow, a full-length album from The Slakadeliqs, an alter-ego of Beatchild. Vastly different from his previous hip-hop and soul focused work, The Other Side of Tomorrow showcases Slakah the Beatchild’s range and musical diversity, drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of artists including Neil Young, The Guess Who, Andre 3000, The Beatles and Lenny Kravitz. Although it has no home label as yet, The Other Side of Tomorrow featuring Justin Nozuka, Swedish Grammy nominated artist Tingsek, Juno nominated artists Ebrahim,  Shad, and more is due to be released in early 2011.

Hailing from Canada, with roots in Carriacou, Grenada, Slakah the Beatchild is pure talent personified and the true essence of a jack-of-all-trades.  Known amongst the Canadian music scene as the “go-to hit maker” for producing Divine Brown’s Juno Award winning, #1 pop single “Sunglasses”; for the #1 College Radio Single “Out of this World” with his group Art of Fresh, and for his work with many of Canada’s young talent including Ebrahim, Tona, D.O., and Melanie Durrant, Slakah the Beatchild has quietly been making noise worldwide in Countries such as the U.K., Sweden, Germany, Japan and Australia. Last year the Beatchild traveled to Sweden to work with singer Tingsek on his 4th studio album, Restless Soul and is featured on 3 tracks on the CD. Currently he is working with Grammy Nominated artist Glenn Lewis to develop tracks for the R&B singer’s new CD, performing spot-dates and working on a new album with his group Art of Fresh, and preparing for the release of his EP Something Forever on BBE Music. Recently Beatchild embarked on a 3-city mini-tour with Ebrahim and Tingsek to promote his alter ego, The Slakadeliqs, forthcoming release. The Slakadeliqs project, which is vastly different from his previous hip-hop and soul focused work, showcases Slakah the Beatchild’s range and musical diversity drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of artists including Neil Young, The Guess Who, The Zombies, The B-52′s, UB40, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Andre 3000, The Beatles and Lenny Kravitz. F.A. Releases “Discovery” On SRR

SoundCloud MP3: F.A. – “Discovery”
http://soundcloud.com/famusic/fa-u-got-it

F.A. isn’t R&B’s first D.I.Y. phenomenon, just the first so far this century. And though he feels a strong kinship with the singing, songwriting, multi-instrumentalist likes of Stevie Wonder and Prince, the Minneapolis-based Liberia-native, post-soul auteur has way too many fingers in the future to care about following in even the most exalted footsteps. He also has a better back story.

Like Emmanuel Jal and M.I.A., Faquama Anthony Delin grew up young and early in the midst of a brutal civil war. He first performed in church, singing in choir and learning to play piano, guitar, and drums. Hearing Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Al Green, and Boyz 2 Men sparked the young multi-instrumentalist’s lifelong love for American R&B. Writing songs couldn’t have come more naturally to him.

His latest offering, “Discovery”, is a self-assured blend of soulful R&B and hip-hop.  We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

“Discovery” is a fun and thoughtful effort from an artist on the make, let us know if you’d like a copy or ZIP of the album for review.

About Remynd
Born into a military family, Remynd treats his music like bootcamp: Aggressive and powerful, with lyrics over strong and tenacious beats; bound to carve a lane in an unpredictable industry. Having already opened up for veterans in the Rap game including KRS-One, Talib Kweli, The Roots and Ludacris, the Puerto Rican native hopes to become a trendsetter and, ultimately, a household name.

Also born during the emergence of Hip Hop, Remynd, traveled vigorously as a child due to his military father. Forced to find ways to cohere to the culture of Germany where his family were stationed, to attending twelve different schools throughout his childhood, Remynd’s fast paced life prepared him for the lifestyle of an artist. To escape the pain and sufferings of a war that could easily claim his father, the Puerto Rican native focused his efforts into perfecting his raw talent.

Music runs through the veins of Remynd, which is nourished by his Latin Jazz percussionist father who traveled the world performing and also had the opportunity to accompany Grammy-award winning musician Ray Baretto, the godfather of Latin jazz. Cincinnati Musician Hosts A Hip-Hop Community Event to Benefit “Keep A Child Alive”

Cincinnati, Oh – Cincinnati-based musician, producer and composer Eddy Free will be hosting an evening of music and spoken word poetry to celebrate the release of his musical collaborations on a project that raises money for the organization “Keep A Child Alive”.

On Friday, September 17, Cincinnati will experience a unique event.  Approximately a dozen artists will get together to perform, spread a positive message of awareness about HIV and AIDS and raise money for the organization Keep A Child Alive.  The event will take place at 5912 Vine St. in Elmwood at Dirty Jack’s at 9:30 pm.

The event was organized by musician Eddy J. Free, who produced an album called “Mad City 2010″, which included collaborations from artists across North America.  The point of this album was to raise money for Keep A Child Alive, an organization Eddy became familiar with due to Alicia Key’s work with it.  The album, which is being followed by three EPs, was a catalyst for Eddy to host a live fundraiser where artists from the album could perform and the community could be educated about Keep A Child Alive’s work.

Keep A Child Alive (KCA) is known for their integrity and ability to deliver results and make a real difference in the lives of thousands of children in countries like Africa and India.  In Africa alone, 25 million lives have been lost already due to AIDS.  Another 13 million children have been orphaned in its wake.  KCA was formed to keep families and children alive by offering individuals around the world the chance to pay directly for a child’s medical treatment.  They work with the experts on the forefront of treatment and partner with major organizations to establish treatment initiatives.

Among those performing will be members of Cincinnati’s own jazz-funk band “Eclipse”, New York rapper/poet Dremur, Cincinnati hip-hop artists Jayce Miguel, Cazz Kennedy and YNO, singer Brandon Andre and many more.  The emcee for the evening will be Kevin “Kaoz” Moore, an AIDS educator, award-winning poet, playwright, actor and rapper from Minneapolis, MN.   Other artists have yet to be announced.

Fans of hip-hop music, bloggers, reviewers and interested parties can listen to and purchase the album “Mad City 2010″ here:  www.MadCity2010.com.  Purchasers of the album (with receipt), will be able to get into the event for free.  Otherwise ticket prices are $10 the night of the event.   Upon entry, however, all attendees will receive a card that will allow them to download Eddy Free’s Mad City: Warzone EP for free, the first in a series of 3 EPs that will also benefit KCA.
