Featured Mixtape Across the Nation
This past Monday on July 19th, 2010, shortly before midnight, City Council dropped their first mixtape project for 2010 entitled “Cult Status” to fans across the Globe. The “Cult Status” project, which officially went live on the Coast2Coast DJ Mixtape networks and RocHarder DJ Mixtape networks around midnight quickly took off, gaining the featured mixtape spot on Coast2CoastMixtapes.com within ten minutes of it’s official release. Within only 30 minutes, the project had already claimed over 2,500 downloads, a rarely seen feat for unsigned artists in today’s world of hip hop.
Before the next morning. “Cult Status” had gained the unofficial title as one of the “hottest mixtapes coming out of Georgia” in less than 24-hours across the East-Coast, National Hip Hop and Underground blogosphere circuits. The well known Hip Hop underground Music Editor known as Megatron released on his Hip Hop Website, Hailmegatron.net, this along with his four-star rating:
“A City Council mixtape?… Yes. I’ve been a fan of City Council for a very, very long time and I’m happy to have this… to present to you all [for download]… Perry Valentyne and JuBee Johnson really shine on this mixtape. Definitely one you MUST download. Once you do, you’ll become an immediate fan of City Council.”
Other underground blogs likewise showed their full support and appreciation for the new release from City Council, including the well known production team coming out of Atlanta, Georgia, SMKA (thesmkaexperience.com), 84 Area For the Underground (84Area.com) as well as countless others.
City Council’s “Cult Status” Mixtape is a dual-coalition sponsored mixtape collaboration presented by both Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes & RocHarder Entertainment and hosted by DJ RE-UP Tha Boss of Darkhouse Studios. The mixtape was a collaborative production between Darkhouse Studios, the Thompson Entertainment Group, Coolerside Studios and Symmetry Studios and under the direction of Executive Producer William Thompson.
