BUNKS Release New Album As Free Download For First Month

Manchester, TN – Have you ever wondered what Simon and Garfunkel on crunk juice riding around in a drop-top ’64 with the Beastie Boys sounds like?  Today is your lucky day.

BUNKS will be giving away their new album Soul Rebel Music as a free download from their website until September 1, 2010.

After that, it will be available for $1 (one week only), then $2 (one week only), and so on until it appears on iTunes, Amazon, and Rhapsody for full price of $9.99.

If you signed up for their mailing list between February 15 and March 15, 2010, you already have an autographed copy of the physical CD.  “We were running to the post office every other day mailing out stacks of CDs.  I know the people at the post office will never forget BUNKS,” says Derrian, the man responsible for the Generica album cover.

Why are these Coffee County boys so generous?

“We would rather you have BUNKS music in your stereo, than not.  We’ve never cared about money,” says Joshua Smotherman, also known as Smo.  The other half of the duo, Joshua Grosch (Gro) elaborates, “Despite all the people that know about us and have shown love to us for the past 10 years, there’s 10 more years worth of people that haven’t heard about the BUNKS movement yet.  Every day we wake up and start over.  That’s why we are still giving away music without a second thought.”

Recently being chosen as The Murfreesboro Pulses’ Artist Spotlight in April 2010 and taking 3rd place in Daily New Journal’s and BoroParty.com’s Battle of the Bands, Smo and Gro are not slowing down.

If you join their mailing list, they will give you access to their free music site where members are allowed to listen and download everything the BUNKS have recorded since they started back in 1999.  You can also find quite a bit of music from other artists in the Middle Tennessee area which BUNKS have worked with.

Visit www.bunksmuzak.com to keep up with the movement.

Bring Unmatched Noise Knowledge and Sound with everything you do.

Press Preview for ‘Word, Shout, Song: Lorenzo Dow Turner Connecting Community Through Language’ at the Anacostia Community Museum

WASHINGTON, July 30 — The following was released today by Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum:

  WHEN: Wednesday, Aug. 4
  10:30 a.m.

  WHERE: Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum
  1901 Fort Place S.E.
  Washington, D.C.

WHO: Alcione Amos, curator, Anacostia Community Museum

The Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum will host a press preview of the groundbreaking exhibition “Word, Shout, Song: Lorenzo Dow Turner Connecting Community through Language.” Curator Alcione Amos will discuss Turner’s life, research and scholarship that are presented in the exhibition which is based almost entirely on the museum’s rich collection of his work.

Turner’s foundational work in the 1930s established that people of African heritage, despite slavery, had retained and passed on their cultural identity through words, music and story wherever they landed. His research focused on the Gullah/Geechee community in South Carolina and Georgia, whose speech was dismissed as “baby talk.” He confirmed, however, that they spoke a Creole language and still possessed parts of the language and culture of their captive ancestors. Turner’s linguistic explorations into the African diaspora led him to Bahia, Brazil, where he further validated his discovery of African continuities, then he went on to Africa. Features of the exhibition include rare audio recordings, photographs and artifacts. The exhibit runs from Aug. 9-March 27, 2011.

“WOW” is Taking Over the Streets This Summer

Orlando, FL, July 30 2010 – A true artist destined to entertain the world with his lyrical skills, energetic style, and southern swag, Drop has proven himself once again with his new summer hit single, “WOW”, as it is taking over the airwaves throughout the South.

Beginning his career at an early age in the former rap group the Gutta Boyz, Drop was able to taste success early on by establishing and growing an enormous fan base in only a two-year period.  After deciding that he had gone as far as he could go being in a group, he departed on a mission to become the New Face of Florida as a solo artist, and hasn’t looked back since.  By the end of his first year as a solo artist, Drop had officially signed to All Pro Records, a record label owned by BET 106 & Park’s DJ Prostyle, performed alongside such as Young Jeezy, Trina, Plies, Rick Ross, and Gucci Mane, and dropped his second solo mixtape “No Rookie” which was hosted by DJ Prostyle and DJ Drama.  This mixtape allowed for him to show his true versatility as an artist as it featured exclusives from P. Diddy, DJ Khaled, Fabulous, Lil Boosie, Roy Jones Jr., Marquis Daniels of the Boston Celtics, and more.

Last year, Drop alongside his management team established No Rookie Entertainment, a full-service entertainment company specializing in artist development, artist management, promotions, and event planning.  “I felt there is no time like the present.  I had been in a couple of management situations before where I had no voice.  I got tired of that.  I have too much creativity to leave it bottled in me.  So with the creation of No Rookie Entertainment, I owned my work.  I had my own rights.  And what better way to celebrate, than to sit back and say wow, look where I am.  That’s where the single came from.  Some moments in life make us just say, wow.”

No Rookie Entertainment released Drop’s new single WOW in June of 2010 after receiving a standing room ovation at the 2010 Core DJs Retreat in Orlando, FL.  Teaming up with Core DJs President, Tony Neal this song is sure to be heard on a radio station near you.  For more information on Drop, or for interviews, exclusives, or drops contactsouthpromojessica@yahoo.com.
