Denver, CO – May 8th, 2010 – With CrowdPleaser, she wanted to produce audio from her laptop that was "DJ tested and dancefloor approved".
In order to remain connected with her fans, she says that, "The second goal was to produce soulful, electronic, hip hop, pop flavored R&B music that remained true to the original when performed live and with bands."
On May 5th, 2010, Asialakay.com presented the follow-up internet release to Asialakay Music Vol. 1, and Rock Sugar. The release is titled CrowdPleaser, and it aims to do that. Comparing the previous release to the current, she says, "Where Rock Sugar was raw and aimed to make you think and feel, CrowdPleaser is more crafted, and is aimed to help you dance and interact."
OFFICIAL EP RELEASE DESCRIPTION:
asialakay.com's • CrowdPleaser • a smooth, smart, and cool demi-collection (3 song 10 minute indie demo release) of global, international, dance floor, hip hop, R&B sugar that was designed to bring you to a euphoric place of head-nodding satisfaction and dancefloor interaction.
Boston Born and Denver-based, Asia Lakay Grady, indie lyricist/sound designer, digital tutor/activist, live performing artist, and founder of Asialakay.com, started producing digital music with Protools, in 2003. In 2005, while working in Las Vegas, inspired by the mix of music she heard in the clubs and in her head, she began to put her ideas onto Garageband for composition.
In May of 2008, after hearing Hot Chip's "Ready for the Floor", she googled the song and found that the UK based group relied on Ableton Live to help create their sound.
This is her second year composing and preparing for live shows with the software. After leaving college in 2004, she focused primarily on songwriting and composition, while creating websites, providing promotional support, and freelance graphic designs to local nightclubs, small businesses, and independent artists.
Today, after a steady year of live shows in Colorado, at a range of venues, backing and opening for local and national groups, performing in genres ranging from reggae, hip hop, to dupstep, to Pink Floyd inspired rock, she says she feels like she's "growing into the role of crowd pleasing vocal producer / composer and live entertainer."
However, she might sound more like a businesswoman when she starts getting excited about upcoming promotions to share the music. Asia says, "In anticipation of physical releases and adding dates to regional college tours, emerging artist showcases, and local independent festivals planned for late Summer 2010 and Fall 2010, we're proactively finding support from club dj's, radio jockeys, blog reviewers, and fans on the street & during event promotions."
This free digital download demo is available online, along with the evocative single "Pushing Daisies" (prod. by NC based, DJ Belasco Black) with Mr. Lingo of Sacramento Bay area's Live Manikins. The collaborative single is included on the gifted MC's debut release "Anybody Want a Peanut?".
