Memphis, TN (March 2, 2010)—The Southern Entertainment Awards & Conference prepares for its 7th annual event and Memphis debut this weekend, March 4-7.  Centered in the heart of downtown with panels, showcases and a fashion show at the Cook Convention Center (adjoined to the host hotel, the Downtown Marriott) and the Cannon Center, where the awards show will conclude the festivities, Sunday March 7th.
DJ's, publicists, promoters, artists, and graphic designers will gather in Memphis, TN to celebrate the independent entertainment culture of the South.  The weekend will serve as a networking and educational platform and present new opportunities and venture for attendees.  Conference goers will experience panels hosted by industry professionals, showcases of new and veteran acts, a benefit fashion show, and the most anticipated event…the coveted awards show.
The SEAs is a results-oriented weekend that aims to identify a void and subsequently create a solution.  This year the SEAs have teamed up with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee to answer the health care call of action set by President Barack Obama.  As one of the first opportunities of its kind, artists (visual and performing), and those whose primary work is in the entertainment industry, will be educated on the health insurance reform and plan options provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Another partnership will be with Full Throttle Music.  Full Throttle, a software and music store application for Android phones, which has a revolutionary and innovative design constructed to re-invent the way music is purchased and distributed.  During the weekend, artists will be encouraged to upload music, for free or a small fee that will be instantly available to audiences anywhere in the world.
The weekend will conclude with the 7th annual awards show, hosted by Solo da Come Upp Kidd.  Over 50 awards will be presented in categories for DJ's, promoters, artists, models, publicists, media outlets, and visual artists.  There will be performances by Finess da Boss, Christelle, Malaki, Diablo, Drumma Boy & Drum Squad, Sparkdawg, Skai, and Big K.R.I.T, to name a few.  The SEA's will also present Impact Awards to those who have impacted the music industry and the culture of the independent music scene.  A special memorial tribute will be given in honor of the lives of Lil Buna and Victoria Smith, who unselfishly committed themselves to the entertainment community.
Panels are free and open to the public.  Tickets for the benefit fashion concert can be purchased at the door for $10, with a portion going to L.E.A.D. (Life Enrichment And Development).  Tickets are still available for the awards show and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com for $30.
Panels, showcases, and benefit fashion show will be held at the Cook Convention Center, 255 N. Main St – Memphis, TN 38103, and the panels will be hosted in the adjoining Cook Convention Center.  The award show will take place at The Cannon Center.
