Red Bull Big Tune 2010 Tour Announced; Applications Open April 1st for the Nation’s Premier Head-To-Head Producer Battle

SANTA MONICA, CA–(March 31, 2010) -  The Red Bull Big Tune program has been a longstanding, respected platform for up-and-coming music producers to gain national exposure, collaborate with well-known artists and make solid connections that could catapult one's career.

This spring, Red Bull Big Tune hits the road again hosting qualifying battles in Austin, TX; Philadelphia, PA; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; Seattle, WA; Minneapolis, MN; St. Louis, MO; Ann Arbor/Detroit, MI; and Virginia Beach, VA.

Each battle will feature 12 producers vying for audience votes. The top two producers from each qualifying competition will advance to the national finals at METRO in Chicago this fall. The coveted grand prize is an opportunity to create the ultimate 'big tune' with an A-list artist of one's choice at the prestigious Red Bull Studios in Los Angeles. Past winners have collaborated with Young Buck and Nas. Interested producers can apply online beginning April 1, 2010 at www.redbullbigtune.com.

NEXT ON DECK
After nabbing "runner-up" in the 2008 Red Bull Big Tune national finals, beat-master Frank Dukes of Toronto came back with a vengeance and seized the 2009 national championship title last December, earning himself a private recording session at Red Bull Studios. Dukes' emcee of choice and the musical collaboration will be unveiled later this summer.

"Red Bull Big Tune has helped connect me with a lot of people in the music industry that I've been able to network with and build relationships," explains Dukes who recently secured a song deal with G-Unit. "All in all, it's put me in a better position to get where I'm trying to go."

MORE THAN A BEAT
Red Bull Big Tune is more than a beat battle. It is a full-fledged producer program with a parallel education outreach and mentorship series designed to inspire and educate the next generation of music producers. In several cities each year, Red Bull Big Tune team members and critically acclaimed producers Jake One and Vitamin D, along with event creator Jonathan Moore, conduct music workshops for youth where they share their experience in the music industry from beat-making to deal-making.

As part of the Red Bull Big Tune program, participating producers are given a platform to share their music with millions of fans. For the past two years, the Red Bull Big Tune finals have aired on national television networks accompanied by the road to the finals documentary web series. Beyond the national exposure, participants benefit from the support of artists such as Nas, Young Buck, Ghostface, Ninth Wonder, DJ Quick, Hi-Tek, J-Rocc, Freeway, Just Blaze, DJ Premiere, Black Milk, Sean Price, Evidence,Chali2na, De La Soul, Jake One, Vitamin D and Alchemist through performance, collaboration or mentorship opportunities.

TOBACCO REVEALS MANIAC MEAT ALBUM ART AND GIVES AWAY NEW ALBUM TRACK, “SWEATMOTHER”!

As previously announced, Tobacco, known for his side project, Black Moth Super Rainbow, is returning May 25th with the new anticon. records album, Maniac Meat. In anticipation of this release, Tobacco is giving listeners the chance to check out one of the album's heaviest and creepiest tracks, "Sweatmother". Acting as a depository for Tobacco's more primal urges, Maniac Meat is an album of odd beauty — darker, deeper, nastier in tone, and something with real swag. Though this new track does not feature the album's lone special guest Beck, "Sweatmother" does give listeners a perfect sneak peek into the analog crunch, earthy psychedelia, fuzzed-up hip-hop and outside pop, Maniac Meat has to offer.

Download/listen to Tobacco's "Sweatmother" — http://www.anticon.com/anthill/TOBACCO_-_Sweatmother.mpg

Tobacco, who has previously created exceptional packaging for his records featuring scratch-n-sniff elements and hairy cases, is the brains and creative force behind the twisted and carnivorous Maniac Meat album art.

Check out the Maniac Meat album art here: http://www.anticon.com/pr/abr0103.jpg

Tobacco has select dates remaining on his spring tour:
Fri. Apr. 2 — Minneapolis, MN @ Triple Rock Social Club w/ High Places, The Hood Internet
Sat. Apr. 3 — Chicago, IL @ Empty Bottle
Sat. Apr. 24 — Brooklyn, NY @ Knitting Factory – Brooklyn

Spring Tour and SXSW Praise for Tobacco:

"Tobacco, from Black Moth Super Rainbow, played elastic electronica, full of aggressive analog swoops and buzzes, that moved in and out of dance beats." – Jon Pareles, The New York Times' Artsbeat Blog

"Black Moth dude bringing the scuzziest, wooziest, weirdest, noisiest dance party to a tent." – @RollingStone

"The record, which includes a guest spot by Beck, features dubby, electro-inspired percussion and frenetically fuzzed-out bass — all pounding along at significantly higher BPM than the rest of his catalog. Clearly, he's taking the maniacal part seriously." – Connie Hwong, Flavorpill

"The songs are weird and brief, like flickers of communication from another galaxy." – Doug Wallen, Seattle Weekly

"Under the name Tobacco, Tom Fec's ragged drums and smears of psychedelic melody jerk to life" – Tony Ware, SF Weekly

"Almost-instrumentals that are as lysergically blissful as they are eerily disorienting" – Eric Grandy, The Stranger

HIP-HOP AND SPOKEN WORD ARTIST MIKE-E BEGINS 4TH NATIONWIDE AFROFLOW TOUR

INNOVATIVE & INTERACTIVE LIVE STAGE SHOW DELIVERS INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGES

Washington, D.C. (March 31, 2010) – Independent recording artist Michael "MIKE-E" Ellison has embarked on the 4th nationwide AfroFlow Tour in partnership with the American Cancer Society. The first performance was March 23, with an appearance at Prairie View A&M University , Prairie View, Texas .  After Prairie View, MIKE-E and the members of the AfroFlow Tour group — vocalist Kenny Watson, DJ Invisible, African percussionist Sowandé Keita, and Senegalese bassist and singer Pathé Jassi – performed in Phoenix , Arizona and Las Vegas , Nevada .  MIKE-E and company will perform from April to June in twenty-two cities across the nation.  The Tour's final performance will be at the Juneteenth Celebration concert on June 19 in Des Moines , IA.

The Tour's innovative and captivating performances have a powerful interactive component.  "We don't perform for anybody. We perform with everybody," MIKE-E explains. Moreover, the band tailors their performances to each audience, transcending age, race, gender and ethnicity. It is not uncommon to see three generations of one family in the audience or onstage interacting with the crew.

"We greatly appreciate the American Cancer Society's sponsorship and Pelle Pelle's support," said MIKE-E.  "We've enjoyed the opportunity to meet and perform with wonderful people (cancer survivors, volunteers, and dedicated staff) throughout the country and we are looking forward to our 2010 AfroFlow Tour," he added.

MIKE-E maintains recognition throughout Ethiopia with one of the country's most popular hits " Ethiopia (Everything Will Be Alright)," where he also supports orphan outreach and health care programs.  " Ethiopia " is featured on MIKE-E's first CD, AFROFLOW and the band will introduce AFROFLOW II during this year's Tour.
