MTV Jams Calls Texas Day a Great Success

Houston, TX – This past Saturday, February 6th, MTV Jam hosted Texas Day in honor of the 2010 NBA All-Star Game being held in Dallas, TX.  The network's programming was dedicated to the past, present and future of the state's music scene, and featured exclusive interviews and videos from industry titans that call the Lone Star State home.  Since airing, the network has deemed the day a great success, and has released correlating facts and figures to back up their claim.

Texas Day was hosted by both Bun B and Dorrough: it featured interviews and videos from a variety of internationally known Texas natives including Chamillionaire, Nora Jones, Beyonce, Slim Thug, Scarface, Erykah Badu, PlayNSkillz and Paul Wall.  The special also highlighted the new class of talent the state is producing, featuring interviews from Troublesum, Charlie Boy, Question, Six2, B-DO, Bone, Faddy Daddy, Spark Dawg, and King Kyle Lee.

To mark the monumental event MTV Jams, Director's Cutt Media (John "Dr. Teeth" Tucker), Texas Summer Music Conference (Mic Moodswing), Publicity Pieces and Bornstarz, Inc., coordinated a marketing campaign on Twitter, to encourage fans to discuss the program.  #TexasDay, as it came to be known own Twitter, reached major milestones including peaking as the #3 trending topic worldwide, and being the #1 trending topic in several major markets including Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles, Atlanta and San Antonio.  Celebrities that joined the efforts, chiming in on their favorite videos and artist, included Scarface, Solange, Dr. Teeth, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Chamillionaire, Dorrough, DJ Drama, DJ Khaled, Kevin Durant, Mistah Fab, PlayNSkillz, Tabi Bonney, Currensy, and even the network's parent station MTV Music.  A top-level network executive exclaimed, "Texas Day was a great success, and we are very pleased that it proved to be something our viewers will not soon forget."
