( Washington, DC) — Two worlds made a universal sound when Kowboy Kom and Alexei launched the group Fly Gypsy back in 2009 with their respected debut The Vodka and Rum Mixtape. Now with the superior video You, directed by Ras Kassa (Sean Paul, Willie Nelson, Damien Marley) in circulation on VH1 Soul and MTVu, the duo will bring one of the most visual escapades to stage for the city of Washington, DC.
On February 17th, Desiree Samira Entertainment brings the Metropolitan Muse Concert Series featuring Fly Gypsy to Layla Lounge, DC's #1 destination for entertainment for Wednesday nights. Hosts include Desiree Samira herself along with co-host Michelle "UK Diva" Harris. The concert begins at 8pm with an opening performance by Terrence Cunningham; immediately after the concert comes DJ Phaze, setting off the after-party with hot mixes and exclusive drops from regional and national artists.

About Fly Gypsy: Kom and Alexei met in a cipher at D.C.'s institution Bar Nun, a famed open-mic spot that produced Raheem DeVaughn and for many years was home to D.C.'s hip-hop community. Fly Gypsy was born three years later, after Kom and Alexei successfully collaborated on an election-time single, "The Ruler." Fly Gypsy launched in summer 2009 with a release of The Vodka & Rum Mixtape. Its mixtape single "Reasons" reached No. 2 and No. 5 positions on online charts and the album version of the single is currently No. 2 on college radio hip-hop charts. Fly Gypsy's first video, shot in Jamaica by award-winning director Ras Kassa (Sean Paul, Willie Nelson, Damian Marley), won the MTVu Freshmen contest.
