Goodwill of Greater Washington Launches Video & Musical Recycling and Mission Awareness Campaign with Miss District of Columbia

Campaign includes Web Video Series and Rap Opera Single featuring Jen Corey and Grammy Nominated Artist, Kokayi

Washington, DC – Goodwill® of Greater Washington, the creator of the nationally recognized DC Goodwill Fashion Blog is about to kickoff a month long recycling and mission awareness campaign featuring Jen Corey, Miss District of Columbia 2009.

The launch of the campaign is timed to ramp up visibility for Miss DC as she prepares to represent our nation's capital at the 2010 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas on January 30th, as well as generate greater awareness for Goodwill's mission during its slowest donation season of the year.

The campaign is two pronged. The first element includes a series of short video vignettes that will be featured on the DC Goodwill Fashion Blog (www.fashionofgoodwill.org/blog) each Friday between January 8th and January 22nd. The videos focus on Miss Corey shopping at Goodwill for items to furnish her new apartment in support of her recycling platform for the Miss America Pageant. The second component is a rap opera single with lyrics influenced by Goodwill's job training mission, written and performed by Grammy nominated DC artist Kokayi (www.kokayi202.com) sampling Miss Corey singing opera. Corey is a highly trained opera singer and will be giving an opera performance in the Pageant.

Snippets of the single titled "Dream without Boundaries" will be offered at the end of each video vignette. The entire song will then be available for purchase via iTunes for a $2 donation to Goodwill of Greater Washington.

"Kokayi is extremely talented; and we believe that Jen Corey is an amazing ambassador for Goodwill and our nation's capital. This campaign will not only demonstrate Miss Corey's passion for recycling and her tremendous support of her community, but also her incredible singing ability", said Brendan Hurley, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Goodwill of Greater Washington. "We are very grateful to Miss Corey and Kokayi for donating their time and talents to Goodwill for the benefit of people who are seeking hope, dignity and independence."

Goodwill of Greater Washington provides job training and employment services for people with disadvantages and disabilities right here in the Washington, DC region.

The video and musical concepts were the brainchild of local PR and Creative Agency, Stella Pop (www.stellaspopfactory.com). Stella Pop has generously provided pro bono consulting and video production services. Dream without Boundary was recorded and mixed by Nicolas Laget at the Sweet Spot Studio (www.sweetspotstudio.com).
