MEDIA ALERT: Advance Screening of B-GIRL-The Movie (Atlanta, GA)

Atlanta, GA: On Thursday, December 3, 2009, the dance feature film, B-GIRL, will have an advance screening and Q&A in conjunction with BBOYWORLD EVOLUTION, one of the largest breakdance events in the world. Starring the world's most decorated female break-dancer, Julie 'Lady Jules' Urich, B-GIRL tells the story of a brilliant young female dancer from NYC forced to find her inner strength through Breaking. The screening is Thursday, December 3 at 7:30PM EST at The Plaza Theatre, 1049 Ponce De Leon Ave NE Atlanta, GA 30306. The film is ninety minutes long. Doors open 6:30PM. Selling over 10,000 DVDs in its first two weeks and currently in the top 20 DVDs in the United Kingdom, B-GIRL features some of the most creative Breaking, Salsa, Free-running, Lyrical Hip hop dance combinations to be found on screen. The film stars Jules "Lady Jules' Urich ("Beat Freaks" America's Best Dance Crew", STEP UP 2, YOU GOT SERVED) and features choreography and movement by Ivan "Flipz" Velez (STOMP THE YARD, HONEY, YOU GOT SERVED, STICK IT), Teresa Espinosa (MTV‟S AMERICA‟S BEST DANCE CREW "BEAT FREAKS," MILEY CYRUS), Alison Faulk (PINK, MADONNA), and Nito Larioza (INDIANA JONES 4). The film also stars Wesley Jonathan (ROLL BOUNCE, CROSSOVER), DREW SIDORS (STEP UP, WHITE CHICKS) and many of the most elite b-boys in the world, including Legacy (Currently starring on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE), Oren "Flea Rock‟ Michaeli, Keith "Remedy‟ Stallworth, Richard "Steelo‟ Vazquez and Rynan "Rainen‟ Paguio.

"Our first priority was to make this film truly authentic (though fictional)," says Emily Dell. "We would cast real b-boys to play the roles, there would never be any dance doubles in the film."

B-Girl is being distributed worldwide with Anchor Bay for the UK, Universum for Germany, Icon for Australia, Coral Pictures for South Korea, Spentzos for Greece, and VC Multimedia for Portugal. Deals also closed in the Middle East (Gulf Film), South Africa (Nu Metro), Turkey (Mars Productions), Israel (AD Matalon), Poland, (Kino Swiat), the Czech Republic and Slovakia (AQS), and Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and former Yugoslavia (Prorom Media). It will be released throughout the US on DVD by Screen Media on January 26, 2010. Since the movie was shot, Urich starred on the hit NBC show America‟s Best Dance Crew with her group the "Beat Freaks" and has performed alongside such artists as Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aquilera and Missy Elliot.

ABOUT Director & Writer – EMILY DELL
Emily Dell is the Writer & Director of the feature film, B-GIRL, and the award-winning short film of the same name. B-GIRL is her first feature film. Her short film, B-GIRL, screened at more than twenty-five festivals around the world, including Raindance in London, ShortsFest in Los Angeles, and Hip-Hop Odyssey in New York City (where it won the Audience Award). It screened alongside works by Sophia Coppola and Niki Caro at the 2006 American Cinematheque's "Focus on Female Directors" Event. Emily was awarded the 2006 Writer's Arc Fellowship for screenwriting, an elite fellowship aimed at supporting and promoting fresh voices in the entertainment industry. Since completing B-GIRL (the short film) Emily has written & directed several short films and corporate pieces. All of these films were completed with her filmmaking partner and sister, Elizabeth Dell. Emily has been a guest lecturer at Fresno Pacific University and one of her films, FOR AN EYE, is currently used as teaching materials for college courses at Laney College in Oakland, CA. Emily studied filmmaking at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and finished her education at the University of California, Berkeley, with majors in both Neurobiology and Third World Literature. Some of Ms. Dell's previous films include MARATHON, set within the Los Angeles Marathon, and ELEGANT VIOLENCE, a documentary about the Cal Women's Rugby Team.

ABOUT Producer – ELIZABETH DELL
Elizabeth Dell most recently produced B-GIRL, a narrative feature film about a female breakdancer. She has also produced numerous award-winning short films with her director/writer partner (and sister) Emily Dell. Prior to focusing on film producing, she was involved in marketing and consulting around improving health care quality. Elizabeth has an extensive background in science and healthcare with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Amherst College and a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.

ABOUT B-Girl – VENDETTA Adrienne "Vendetta" Lee
Vendetta is the first lady of the local break dancing crew Burn Unit in Atlanta, Georgia. A b-girl veteran, dancing for 12 years, she has become an increasingly prominent figure in the b-boy/b-girl community internationally, recently winning an invitation-only battle in Australia. In 2005, Vendetta was featured in the well-renowned book "We BGirlz" by the famous photographer Martha Cooper and writer Nika Kramer. Both powerful in stature and skill, Vendetta approaches break dancing with a unique formula, combining power and style, determined to hold her own against any opponent, male or female. Her professional dance career includes performances for Wyclef Jean, Grandmaster Flash, Coca-Cola, ESPN, Microsoft, the NBA All-Star Fashion Show and Red Bull. She teaches locally and internationally and is currently featured in the upcoming documentary "All the Ladies Say". Vendetta continues to explore and define her dance style and to encourage the next generation of women in Hip Hop, with the help of her crew and a group of bgirls called Collective 7.

ABOUT B-Girl – Nicole "Severe" Rateau
Severe is the second female member of Atlanta's finest break dancing crew Burn Unit. An Atlanta native, she has also lived and traveled all over the world, providing her the opportunity to attend many global competitions and train with many international crews. She is active in the Atlanta Hip Hop community, teaching, performing and competing as well as promoting local b-boy/b-girl events. Along with crew member Vendetta, Severe belongs to a group of b-girls called Collective 7 that hope to inspire and empower other women through Hip Hop.
