Breakthrough Hip-Hop act, NEFEW, stamped with an American/Swiss postmark have secured a break through endorsement from sports apparel giant PUMA. The duo, managed by Swiss based company On Our Feet Entertainment consist of Polemikk and PA-Double. Combined, NEFEW take on the coveted role of Opinion Leaders for Urban Lifestyle as they represent PUMA INTERNATIONAL.
The list of athletes and soccer players whom have been tagged with the PUMA brand heralds' icons such as Pele, Diego Maradona and the Italian national soccer team. More recently the German based company welcomed the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, to their extended family. However Hip-Hop acts and entertainers have never graced this prestigious list until now.
"We're looking for a new generation of sports people and artists; people that really believe what they are doing because they love to do it," says Fynn Kreuz, Marketing and Account Manager at Puma. "The same exact attitude that we love about Usain Bolt we love about NEFEW. They are humble and very talented individuals that care about their passion."
NEFEW captured the attention of PUMA executives with their organic approach to their craft. Inspired by a variety of acts and performers from Kanye West to John Mayer. The group has opened for a variety of established acts such as De La Soul, Dead Prez, Nas and Talib Kweli. Through their ability to entertain and uphold a positive approach, the combination of rapper/Producer Polemikk DJ/Producer PA-Double complements the ideology PUMA are now displaying, as they re-launch their products back into the urban lifestyle field.
Dominik Kaser, PUMA Marketing Manager explained about the alignment "We are really happy to be partnering up with NEFEW as I think we both represent a very cool and refreshing lifestyle, a passion for art, an engagement for the greater good and a huge interest in combining art with fashion." He continued, " Puma puts quality first and tries to uphold its values, so does NEFEW. Their music and lyrics are profound and sophisticated, but at the same time very simple, honest and accessible to everyone."
Hailed by the highly respected UK music magazine, Q as the act 'paving the way' for Switzerland, NEFEW are honored to be viewed in such high regard by PUMA and hope that other acts can take the innovative approach that they have. "We can only encourage other acts to not only pitch to labels but to other companies within the lifestyle field as after all there's no lifestyle without music and no music without lifestyle," Polemikk states.
The first project on the horizon for this new union is The Homesick EP, which will be available on ITunes on December 1st. This project, which features appearances by G.O.O.D music recording artist Consequence and soul sensation, Chanj precedes NEWFEW's sophomore album THE ANTIHERO that will be available in 2010.
