October 2009 – - Atlanta, GA – Soul Shack Urban Music Showcase held its debut on Thursday October 22, 2009. Executive Produced by Shakesha Dennis-Williams of Harlem Fusion, Creator and former producer of Soul Sessions, the showcase features the hottest unsigned urban musicians from around the country performing for one of the sexiest most eclectic crowds in Atlanta. The success of Soul Shack is due mainly to the caliber of performances seen at the showcase.
The show kicked off with a rousing performance by band Elevate the Quest featuring vocalist Trece. This band is quickly becoming an Atlanta can be seen weekly at Café Circa. The showcase was hosted by the always funny and lively Dwayne Williams.  Rapper Big Jenk gave a rousing performance for the crowd. Next, Avery Floyd performed an original piece. Rap duo 2 Xclusive gave the crowd lots of energy while Matt Griswold performed some acoustic pieces reminiscent of John Mayer and Asher Roth. R&B sensation, The DooWhopBoiz brought down the house and serenaded the crowd while Hip Hop Trio Kollege Kids gave us a slow jam. Mr. Kalarific brought his brand of dirty south hip hop 40 West hooked the crowd up with his own version of Floetry's "Say Yes". Daya Lorin tore it down with two acapella Gospel pieces and Joseph Anthony made the stage his own with his original songs.
Artists interested in a chance to perform in Soul Shack Urban Music Showcase should register to audition. Auditions for upcoming shows are being held on Saturday, December 5th and 19th at Central Library located at 1 Margaret Mitchell Square NW, Atlanta, GA 30303. Auditions will take place from 2pm to 6pm. Auditions are by appointment. Walk ins are welcome but not guaranteed an audition slot.
