NAPPY ROOTS MODELS VH1′S SAVE THE MUSIC INITIATIVES & IMPROVES HIP-HOPS REPUTATION IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS THROUGH CONSCIOUS RHYME

(New York, NY- September 21, 2009) On September 20th, 2009, Grammy nominated recording group, Nappy Roots, launched the NREG music program in Kentucky, while celebrating the 7th Annual Nappy Roots Day celebration. The new music program piggy backs on VH1's Save the Music initiative by providing public school systems with the tools to restore and enhance music and entertainment curriculums for today's urban youth.

Group members, Skinny Deville, B Stille, Big V, Ron Clutch, and Scales kicked off the official launch at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky.  Kentucky youth are the first to benefit from this program.

Lead group member, Skinny Deville, confirms "NREG is looking to have at least 5 more public schools on board in 2010." The southern-conscious rap collective, also aims to improve the reputation and outlook of Hip-Hop within the educational school system. The group's latest single " Imma Be Alright," boasts positive lyrics and exemplifies feel good music that can be inspirational to today's youth, says Deville. Nappy Roots is currently in talks with VH1 about partnering the NREG Music program with the Save the Music Foundation in 2010 to help raise awareness and funds for more music programs. In related news, Nappy Roots announced the release of their 6th studio LP, Pursuit of Nappyness, anticipated for a March release date through NREG.
