Show tapes to a live global audience on Thursday, August 13th, 2009.
Los Angeles, California, Monday, August 10th, 2009 – Down A.K.A Kilo is set to guest appear on La Musica.com to present his latest single "Put Your Locs On." Internet users and Direct TV subscribers will be able to view the new cool in the sun, sizzling in the shade video that takes a look at how we perceive life and circumstances, especially in the hood, and offers an alternative.
There is an olde saying that suggests, that we should try looking at life through rose-colored lenses, meaning that when you do, life looks more cheerful. But, rose-colored glasses would never go down right in the hood. In the hood things have to be hipper and more cutting edge. Therefore, in translation to hip hop streetz lingo, rose-colored glasses now become "Locs," those black stream-lined sunglasses that make the world look good.
In "Put Your Locs On" Down A.K.A. Kilo is saying in hood parlance, look at the world through rose-colored glasses. Everything looks cooler when your glasses are cool. So, "yo yo"everybody, "Put Your Locs On," chill and listen to the cut.
In the music video there is a scene in which hulking, gianormous actor, Tiny Lister looks like he's ready to terrorize the neighborhood and demolish Kilo. Down simply tells him "Put Your Locs On." When he does it, Tiny Lister immediately transforms from sceeeery to cheery!
The video has a nouveau film style that incorporates film, music video and video game quality, definitely an out of the box imaginative and creative delivery and pioneer achievement.
"Put Your Locs On" has a special message of harmony and unity that we should all live together and respect one another's differences. The multi-ethnic cast of Hispanics and Blacks got along famously like one big happy family, reversing the destructive trend of animosity between ethnic groups. This is the crux of the message that Down A.K.A. Kilo dubbed "The Ambassador of Peace" wants to convey to his audience.
Kilo constantly promotes that we all should live together on peaceful terms. Kilo has through his music re-defined the negative connotations of the word Cholo.
"Put Your Locs On" featuring Jah Free will give listeners something to think about in addition to a funky hip groove to dance to. "Put Your Locs On" is now avail on iTunes.
The Music video boasts an impressive cast that includes: Down A.K.A. Kilo, Jah Free, Tiny Lister, John Amos, TV star Valente Rodriguez, Vida Guerra, filmmaker/actor Demetrius Navarro and Danny Trejo.
Kilo is excited to guest on La Musica.com. His album, "Cholo Skate is set to drop September 2009 in time for Hispanic Heritage Month.
