The famed Annual Summer Toi Box Fish Fry is back and on July 25th NYC residents will come out in droves to Jefferson Park for a day of music, fun and mouth watering soul food. The Toi Box Fish Fry was started four years ago by renowned chef Toi Johnson in order to promote her restaurant Toi Box Soulfood Fish n' Chips.
This year's feature is Harlem's famed DJ Mike Doelo, who will be spinning his masterful mix of Hip Hop Dance Soul for the crowd while they get their culinary grub on. DJ Mike Doelo is a featured DJ of The Hip Hop Culture Center in Harlem and was recently featured on City College's Equilibrium Radio DJ Spotlight. A staple feature of New York's underground music scene, his most recent addition of video mixing technology is catapulting him into the future of multi-media entertainment.
Although only a few blocks long, Jefferson Park is the perfect setting for the music and gourmet soul food celebration. Offering an open community space that features a recreation center, open barbecue grills and an outdoor pool, the park easily accommodates the crowd that comes to the yearly fish fry affectionately touted by local residents as the Woodstock of soul food.
