Majority of Americans Say Congressman King’s Comments About Michael Jackson Went Too Far

– 59% also say the attention related to Michael Jackson is inappropriate –

FLEMINGTON, N.J., July 8 /PRNewswire/ — A new national media study among 1,350 viewers of Congressman Peter King's video where he is seen commenting on the attention surrounding Michael Jackson's death, revealed that most (60%) believe King's comments went too far.

The study was conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com(R) website on July 7, to obtain viewers' perceptions of New York Congressman Peter King's video post where he commented on Michael Jackson and the media attention surrounding Jackson's death. To view agreement curves and detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com.

The study also revealed that most viewers (57%) did not agree with the comments made by King in the video. However, while the majority did not agree with King's comments, most (59%) still agreed that the attention related to Michael Jackson is inappropriate. "After viewing the automated response curves, we noticed that there was a significant increase in agreement when King referenced other stories in need of news coverage, such as our troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan," explained Glenn Kessler, president and CEO, HCD Research.
