DETROIT, MI JULY 15, 2009 — Urban F.L.A.V.A. and Vanguard Community Development Corporation are teaming up to host a one day entertainment industry seminar and workshops from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Second Ebenezer Church, 14601 Dequindre Road, Detroit, Michigan, 48212.
The event, titled "From Motown to Showtown, How to Get Paid in Detroit's New Film and Entertainment Industry," will give participants insight on how to jumpstart a career in the entertainment business and the jobs tracks that are offered.
Learn from industry veterans the most profound ways to transition your skill sets for a successful career in the entertainment industry. During the one day crash course, attendees can also dialogue with the panelists from a wide variety of disciplines to get first hand advice and broader training experience.
The workshop curriculum covers everything needed to succeed in the field, including: Secure a role in a feature film/write a screen play; build sets for film and stage productions; get the attention of a major label; start a successful independent record label; produce and mount a successful stage play; and secure music publishing and register with union affiliations.
Investment cost is $45 in advance; $55 the day of the event; and students (with ID) $30.00. One on-one consultations will be available on site for additional fee. Vendor space is available for $50.
