Rainmaker Public Relations Signs L.A. based Hip-Hop/Pop/Rock artist, Kaleo Futuristo, to 2009 Roster

Ground Breaking L.A. based Hip -Hop/Pop/Rock artist and producer Kaleo Futuristo Makes a Bold and Optimistic Declaration fitting in this Age of Obama: The Future is Now.

Boston, Ma (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) April 30, 2009 — Now that we're in the age of Obama and quickly moving past the color and culture boundaries that once divided us, The Future Is Now! for groundbreaking multi-cultural artists like hip-hop/pop/rock artist and producer Kaleo Futuristo, whose explosive sound and powerful presence is primed to bring to the world a new and raw flow of positive energy.

Fully embodying and expressing the optimism that the 44th President drew upon to captivate the hopes of an anxious world, the multi-talented, Pasadena, California bred performer–whose name in the Hawaiian language means "The Voice, The Music and The Song"–includes the Obama tribute "Air Of The Night" (an adaptation of Phil Collins' classic "In The Air Tonight") on the UK release of The Future Is Now! through Redskin Records. He also released a popular video for the song on his myspace site, YouTube and other outlets. The album is distributed in the U.S. through Fontana/Universal Music Group.

The Voice, The Music and The Song
Offering the perfect mix of universal themes ("Save The World") and high energy party music (the potential first radio single "Love Slave"), Futuristo's 13 track opening statement is the culmination of several years on Los Angeles' vibrant club scene, where he performed at all the Sunset Strip hotspots (The Whisky, The Roxy, Key Club, Viper Room, House of Blues) either as a headliner or as a member of hip-hop and electronic dance funk groups. The rapper/singer's all-star rolodex allowed him to collaborate and produce with a dynamic mix of hip-hop, gospel and R&B producers and artists, including co-producers Nyalle Iameh and the Grammy nominated Marvin Davis; French producer N-Jay; platinum recording artist Jon B. (the hypnotic and sweeping, uptempo blast "Live It Up"); Don Chel (who has written for Daddy Yankee, on "Live It Up" and the hard thumping "My Lady"); EJ Flower, one of Prince's longtime backup singers; underground rapper N8E; female jazz singer Shelitha (the blistering funk/rocker "Rock Hard"); and up and coming R&B songstress Tania Young.

Kaleo's keen balance between high energy fun and thoughtful serious reflection comes across on a few key tracks. "Save The World" addresses the state of things on the planet and what role we can play to make it a more loving, habitable place; it's about taking personal responsibility and realizing that to save it, we must act before it's too late. Another powerful socially conscious statement is "Susie Q," about the dilemma of a 14-year-old who is pregnant; it asks the listener to make the decision of having the baby or terminating the pregnancy. "Young Ones" is an edgy, hypnotic tale about a kid in foster care who commits suicide. On the much lighter end of the spectrum are "Love Slave" and "Rock Hard," a fired-up celebration of the wild and crazy rock star lifestyle.

Coming from a childhood racked by poverty and mental illness in the family, Kaleo's optimistic spirit which he is now sharing with the world is a revelation and inspiration to anyone who has ever been challenged from the start. His life has been filled with obstacles, but he has always seemed to rise above all the possible stumbling blocks and created a quarry of positive stepping stones along the way. He received a full scholarship to art schools so he could study visual art, earned a Bachelor's Degree and having never played organized football, made the UCLA college football team as a walk-on. He later worked as a teacher in the Pasadena Unified School District.

‘Children Uniting Nations’ and Russell Simmons’ ‘Hip Hop Summit Action Network’ Partner in Nation’s Capital to Motivate Change for Child Welfare

Call for more African American Mentors, Fuels new partnership for 4th Annual 'Keeping the Promise to our Children' Conference with Key Legislators and Policy Makers

LOS ANGELES and WASHINGTON, April 30 /PRNewswire/ — Children Uniting Nations (CUN), one of the premier non-profit institutions working with at-risk youth recently announced its partnership with Russell Simmons' "Hip Hop Summit Action Network", heading into the 4th Annual "Keeping the Promise to our Children" conference in Washington DC. Set for June 9th, HHSAN president and historic civil rights veteran Dr. Benjamin Chavis held a key role in the new partnership's formation, which will be formally introduced through a morning press conference held at the House Capitol Building and the following conference with panel discussions in the famous Woodrow Wilson Plaza located in the Ronald Reagan Building. This year's confirmed political leaders include former House Majority Leader Richard Armey, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, Senator Evan Bayh, Congressman Dennis Cardoza, Congressman Joe Crowley, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Mary Landrieu, Honorable Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Adam Schiff, Senator Olympia Snowe, Senator John Kerry, Senator Barbara Boxer, Congresswoman Diane Watson, Congressman Howard Berman, Speaker of Assembly Karen Bass and Senator Dianne Feinstein while others are confirming daily.

In the year since the last conference, Children Uniting Nations has seen significant legislative achievements in support of mentoring for at-risk children. An amendment to provide loan forgiveness to community college students who mentor at-risk youth in their communities was passed by the House as part of the College Opportunity and Affordability Act in 2008, and an amendment to support the mentoring of children in foster care was passed unanimously in the Senate as part of the recent Serve America Act (2009). CUN looks forward to building upon these successes in the coming legislative session.

Children Uniting Nations Chairwoman Daphna Ziman remarked, "We are proud to be partnered with such an exceptional organization like the Hip Hop Summit Action Network. As advocates for education, health and other societal concerns essential to the empowerment of the world's youth, we couldn't have found a better match for this year's conference." Russell Simmons, Chairman and Co-Founder of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, emphasized, "Children Uniting Nations is one of the most effective organizations of our time and our partnership will help to raise public awareness about the key public policy issues that are focused on empowering children to have a better quality of life. The "Keeping the Promise to our Children" Conference in Washington on June 9, 2009 will enable more people to make a real difference on these important issues."

Dr. Benjamin Chavis, President and Co-Founder of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network concluded, "We are very enthusiastic about our partnership with "Children Uniting Nations. Together we will help promote change in America and throughout the world in the interests of children. The opportunity to affect public policy and take action on behalf of millions of children is a welcomed challenge."

The entire event will also be streamed live on Swaggmedia.com, the leading web portal and social networking site with over 14 million viewers.

GZA Collaboration With Rock Band ‘Black Lips’ Premieres At AOL

One of the defining moments of this year's SXSW was the pair of surprise collaborations between Atlanta garage rock rabble-rousers The Black Lips and Wu Tang impresario GZA. This first took place off the beaten path at The Compound for Dickies Battle of the Bands, inspiring the unlikely pair to enter into a whole new chamber together. Soon thereafter, rumblings shot down 6th Street that the unlikely collabo might occur again at The Vice Records Showcase later that night at Emo's. Sure enough, immediately after the band took the stage, GZA emerged to a roomful of cheers and slack jaws. The following week, the web was atwitter with reports from both events and a grainy MTV video documented a piece of the experience.

But now anyone who missed the display of hip-hop and gutter-rock allegiance has a chance to get in on the action. Indeed, the Lips are releasing an iTunes EP including 200 Million Thousand fave "Drop I Hold," along with a never-before-heard version of the song featuring verses from the Genius himself, GZA. In addition, the release will feature an instrumental version of the track and the video for the album-version of "Drop." All this, for a whopping $1.99 during its first week of availability, beginning next Tuesday, May 5th. Earlier today, AOL Spinner and AOL Boombox jointly premiered the genre-defying collaboration, recorded at Werewolf Heart Studios under the watchful eye of Engineer Filip Nikolic. Hear for yourself below.

***

Los Angeles, California – April 29, 2009 – Talent can be defined in a myriad of ways.  It can be an innate gift or a learned proficiency but occasionally, it's a potent mixture of both, which happens to be the case with Christopher Gholson, the southern-reared producer and visionary who goes by the pseudonym Drumma Boy. Born and bred in Memphis, Tennessee, Drumma Boy's destiny was solidified as a young child with a mother who was an opera singer and a father who was a professional clarinetist and music professor at the University of Memphis, the first African-American man to hold the 1st chair position in the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.

Influenced by Beethoven, Dizzy Gillespie, Mozart, Three 6 Mafia and Scarface, Drumma Boy who is best known as one of the South East region's most highly prized producers will step to the mic to deliver both lyrics and vocals on his new mixtape Welcome to My City (Drum Squad Records). The project consists of an all-star line-up featuring the "whose who" in down South hip-hop including Rich Boy, DJ Drama, Greg Street, OJ Juiceman, Rocko, Three 6 Mafia, Yo Gotti, Young Buck, Gucci Mane, Eightball & MJG, Bobby Valentino and Jazze Pha to name a few. For the young virtuoso who originally inherited his moniker in high school due to his uniquely formulated drum patterns, Drumma Boy has taken his talents to an unprecedented level. Currently he boasts a total of 16 tracks and 6 albums on Soundscan's Top 35 selling records including T.I. Papertrail (#9 – 1,858,063), Young Jeezy The Recession (#31 – 850,273), Plies Da Realist (#35 – 322,407), Souljah Boy Isouljahboytellem (#21 – 191,214), Gorilla Zoe Don't Feed Da Animals (#15 – 57,685) and Bow Wow New Jack City II (#5 – 30,944). With a gift to manufacture inimitable sounds the young virtuoso has been recruited into the studio recently with a wide range of artists including Lil Jon', Mya, Nelly & St. Lunatics, Snoop Dogg and The Game while recent singles include "Day Dreaming" (DJ Drama f/ Akon, T.I. and Snoop Dogg,) "Pole in my Basement" (Bow Wow), "Face" (Rick Ross f/ Trina), "Lost" (Gorilla Zoe) and "Echo" (Gorilla Zoe f/ P. Diddy.)

During the recent 2009 Grammy Ceremony hip-hop music from the South took over the list of nominees with artists like Lil Wayne, T.I., Young Jeezy, Ludacris, T-Pain, Andre 3000 and Flo Rida.  Drumma Boy who worked with all the aforementioned artists as well Yung Joc, Rick Ross, Paul Wall, Gorilla Zoe and Plies  received two Grammy nominations for his musical ingenuity last year. The nominations included T.I.'s platinum selling Papertrail (Best Rap Album) where the young Atlantan beat maker produced a total of four tracks on the fourth highest debut album of 2008 including the hit single "What Up, What's Happenin" as well as "My Life Your Entertainment" f/ Usher, "Ready for Whatever" and "You Ain't Missin Nothin" while T.I. called Drumma Boy "the next big thing." Drumma Boy composed the blazing track "Put On" f/ Young Jeezy and Kanye West (Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group). The song which became the hit anthem of the summer reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks and Mainstream R&B/Hip Hop charts. Other accolades include a recent win for "Indie Producer of the Year" at the 6th Annual Southern Entertainment Awards 2009 and a nomination for "Producer of the Year" at the Ozone Awards 2008.

Drumma Boy and Jazze Pha recently teamed up on the American Idol-esque show "Welcome to Dreamland" which aired on Peachtree TV/Turner Broadcasting and was recently picked up by BET Networks The two multi-platinum Atlanta based producers competed to see who could develop the best act as the show followed new artists through an intense development process with producers, songwriters, stylists, designers and photographers in their quest for musical stardom. This Season he will appear on the highly rated reality show "Real Housewives of Atlanta" (Bravo TV) where he can be seen working in the studio alongside Kandi Burress, formerly of the female group Xscape.

AMALGAM DIGITAL SET TO RELEASE TAME ONE’S NEW, DIGITAL-ONLY ALBUM, “ACID TAB VOCAB”, ON JUNE 23, 2009

April 28, 2009 – Amalgam Digital will be releasing Tame One & Parallel Thought's new album "Acid Tab Vocab" for digital download on June 23, 2009. "Acid Tab Vocab" is a follow up to "Da' Ol' Jersey Bastard," which was released in July 2008 on Amalgam Digital. Whereas "Da' Ol' Jersey Bastard" was a 'stream of conscious' experimental project, "Acid Tab Vocab" is more cohesive, meticulously crafted for the album experience.

The new release is a conceptual album that invites the listener on a journey through the artist's many moods by generating an atmosphere that encourages experimentation and open-mindedness. Knowledge of the production-duo Parallel Thought, who produced the album with fellow member Drum, describes the new album, "It doesn't matter what you're on, whether it's acid, weed, anger or happiness, this album takes you through the mood you're going through, amplifies the feeling and takes you on the ultimate trip."

The album features guest vocals from fellow underground hip hop mainstays such as Del the Funky Homosapien and fellow Weatherman members, Aesop Rock and Amalgam Digital's own Breeze Brewin. "Acid Tab Vocab" also sheds light on Tame One's past and family. The artist opens up about his early years on 'Suede Adidas,' and pays homage to relative Redman on the second single, 'Press Rewind.'

Amalgam Digital is the new media outfit with "its finger on the pulse of Hip-Hop's future" (Source, April 2008) home to other leading hip-hop artists such as Joe Budden, Max B, Saigon, Peedi Crakk, Kurious, DJ Benzi, Juggaknots, and Tash. The freshman effort gained the group a following on their follow-up "Coast II Coast" and the single "Hip Hop Drunkies" featuring Ol' Dirty Bastard became Tha Alkaholiks most successful hit. AMALGAM DIGITAL TO RELEASE KURIOUS JORGE’S SOPHOMORE LP, “II” June 30th 2009

April 28, 2009 – Golden age fans of hip-hop will remember full page split advertisements in The Source Magazine for what was at the time two of Columbia's most promising hip-hop artists' debut albums. One half of the advertisement was Nas "Illmatic" and the other was for Kurious Jorge "A Constipated Monkey". Well now, everyone's favorite "Constipated Monkey" is back with a brand new album for 2009!  Kurious Jorge and Amalgam Digital are proud to present "II", Kurious' first studio album in over 14 years, which will be released on June 30, 2009.

Hailing from 'Uptown' New York, Kurious is best known for his early-to-mid 1990's hits such as "Walk Like A Duck", "Uptown Sh*t", "I'm Kurious" and "A Mansion & A Yacht".  His debut album, "A Constipated Monkey", was released in 1994 to critical acclaim.  His association with Bobbito, Pete Nice (3rd Bass) and MF Doom (KMD) further cemented his folklore in underground circles worldwide

After a lengthy hiatus, Kurious signed to the Amalgam Digital label in 2007.  Amalgam re-released the classic "A Constipated Monkey" album later that year which included never-heard-before bonus demo tracks from the early 90s.  Kurious' new offering "II" features guest appearances from the likes of another Amalgam Digital signed artist, Max B, and reunites both MC Serch with Mf Doom for "Benneton" as well as regrouping with original posse members The Beatnuts who return a favor to the man who laced their chorus with the vocals "When I pop the trunk…hit the deck".

Stellar production is handled by heavywights in the beat game: Dame Grease, 88-Keys, Hi-Tek, V.I.C., Domingo and Yogi.  Songs such as "Animals & Horses", "Work It", and "From Up Under" prove that Kurious' lyrical skills and wit are still sharp as ever while the classic "Sittin' In My Car" pays homage to the original version by Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh.

The album "II" will be available on CD and digital format on June 30th 2009 with an additional bonus song when purchased on www.AmalgamDigital.com.

Masters of Krump and Buck Dancing Receive Exclusively Designed Shirt from Break the Chain Apparel

Renowned artists Tommy the Clown and Coolaid the Clown Join the Movement!

Los Angeles, CA. 29 April 2009 – When Krump and Buck dancing stars Tommy the Clown and Coolaid the Clown learned about the mission of Break the Chain® Apparel, they knew that the relationship was a fit: A company with a voice against violence and social issues, and two men who have saved the lives of thousands of young people across the Los Angeles area by mentoring them and teaching them to express their anger and aggression through dance, not gang-banging.

Coolaid created the slogan "Don't Bang, Just Buck" for the official Krump/Buck t-shirt, while Tommy gave input on color selection and overall look. Forty shirts were personally delivered to both Tommy and Coolaid so that their young dancers could have a new, fresh look for performances and dance battles.  "The kids just love the shirts," said Coolaid, whose crew of dancers immediately put them on for some impromptu photos.  Tommy's group of dancers were equally as excited, saying "This shirt is real, real nice. Thank you to Tammi Burns and Break the Chain® Apparel."

Break the Chain® Apparel  representative, Laurena Marrone Campos, delivered the shirts to and spent some time with both Tommy and Coolaid in Los Angeles. "These are two incredible men, she explains with great emotion. "They devote their time to helping kids who would otherwise be on the streets, selling drugs or failing in school. This is about much more than dance, Laurena explains, This is about saving lives and giving hope and a voice through dance and community to a segment of the population that society cannot or chooses not to help."

The next step in this unexpected but perfectly matched relationship is to work with Tommy and Coolaid to continue to spread the word about Break the Chain® Apparel by selling the "Don't Bang Just Buck" t-shirt online and introduce its program, Project Chain Reaction (PCR) to inner city schools.  In PCR, students come up with slogans such as "Make a stand against an angry hand" and "Meth = Death." With a slogan in mind, students will begin developing art work based on their social issue. The winning design is chosen and Break the Chain's professional graphic designer will work with the student to develop an edgy, eye-catching image screen-printed on t-shirts that will sell as the company's latest apparel design. Students have used this project to address verbal abuse, underage drinking issues, self-esteem and gang awareness. Many of these design concepts are underway right now and will be produced this spring.

Break the Chain® Apparel's CEO Tammi Burns describes her business as "ordinary people making positive changes in the lives of others by creating clothing with a voice that inspires social changes."

Break the Chain uses apparel as a tool to help fund social programs; a portion of the proceeds of all sales go directly to organizations that combat the social issues they address.

About Break the Chain® Apparel

Break the Chain® Apparel was founded in 2006 by domestic violence survivor Tammi Burns. Tammi formed a team of people who aspired to make positive changes in the lives of others by creating "clothing with a voice," clothing with messages that would inspire social change. Tammi's vision is twofold: to use apparel as a tool to help fund social programs, and to inspire change by making messages against violence and addiction in-style. "These messages speak so you don't have to," says Tammi. "It allows the person wearing the clothing to speak out while remaining non-invasive." Break the Chain® Apparel donates to a different nonprofit each month. For more information, visit www.breakthechainapparel.com or call CEO Tammi Burns at 503.859.5555.
