New York, NY – Regime Change, a hip-hop group comprised of lyrical masters Okai, Stupid?, and Max!m!l, is releasing their debut album, The Int'l Party, on March 21st. The album is comprised of 16 songs, with smaller skits in between, featuring artists from every continent excluding Antarctica.
The debut release, The Int'l Party, from Regime Change is truly an international hip-hop album with MC's from Iraq, Uganda, Haiti, France, Tanzania and El Salvador, as well as musicians from Japan, Mexico, and Germany. The producers on the album hail from Switzerland, Italy, and Canada, with the US represented by Latin sensation Denise De La Cruz, and production from Ayatollah, Old#7 and Abel Okugawa.
To celebrate the album release, and to kick-off their international tour, Regime Change is throwing a party at a secret location in Brooklyn on Saturday, March 21st starting at 8pm. The party will include a live performance by Regime Change, backed by eight musicians, three DJs, and other special guests. As Regime Change looks to the future, the album will only be available on custom USB drives. There will also be Regime Change gift bags and special giveaways.
Before working on The Int'l Party, Okai has opened for the likes of Bilal, ?uestlove of the Roots, and performed side by side with Louis Fonsi at the 2006 Latin Grammy's in Madison Square Garden. He also performs and records with Negus World Order and Haitian sensation Boukman Eksperyans. This is Okai's sophomore album, after the 2005 release of Dekonstruktion of the Mind produced exclusively by Ayatollah with special features including Vinia Mojica (Native Tongues) and Planet Asia.
Stupid? has a sound that is a blend of Ghostface and ODB, with a surprising hint of Barry White. He was a featured guest on Okai's Dekonstruktion of the Mind, and recorded a song with Ana Ortiz of "Ugly Betty."
Max!m!l has a history of working with A-listers, serving as assistant music producer for Phillip Seymour Hoffman's directorial debut, "Jesus Hopped the A train" (produced by Madonna) and "Our lady of 121st." He has worked with legendary producer Ayatollah, recorded and mixed with the likes of Anthony Hamilton, Boot Camp Click, Rah Digga, DJ Twins, Michael Bivens (New Edition), Redman, Method Man and Sadat X from Brand Nubian. Max!m!l founded The Dugout recording studio in the South Bronx where he executive produced Dekonstruktion of the Mind.
Together they are Regime Change, a well-rounded, multi-cultural hip-hop group looking to change the way we think about music. They understand that a music group is very similar to a society – multi-faceted and ever changing. This formula could prove to be the winning ticket for this monumental group.
