"Bohannon: Speaks From The Beginning" details songwriter and musician's rise to prominence, and his work with artists including Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix and Diana Ross & The Supremes
March 09, 2009, ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Songwriter, producer, recording artist and musician Hamilton Bohannon tells the story of a life spent in the music industry in a new audio book "Bohannon: Speaks From The Beginning", which is released this month.
Bohannon has scored 19 Billboard-charted singles over the course of his career, and toured as band leader with all of Motown's top performers such as Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Temptations, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, and Gladys Knight & The Pips. More recently, his work has been sampled by some of the biggest names in the industry, including Jay-Z, Nine Inch Nails, Mary J Blige and Snoop Dogg.
In "Bohannon: Speaks From The Beginning", Bohannon narrates his own life story, from his childhood and school days in Georgia, his two-and-a-half year stint as drummer for Stevie Wonder, and his career as Motown band leader and international hit maker.
From life on the touring bus with The Temptations, to his refusal to get in the boxing ring with his friend Marvin Gaye, Bohannon's story is full of anecdotes featuring some of the biggest musical legends of all time. Whether talking about getting caught in a battle with Diana Ross when he inadvertently touched her hair, or meeting with Stevie Wonder's mother after being invited by the Motown superstar to his home to play drums, Bohannon's story is a uniquely personal look back at one of the greatest periods in American musical history.
The audio book has already been a hit with schoolchildren in Atlanta, after being placed in 100 public schools in the area as an inspiration to determined young people who dream of a career in music like Bohannon. The book can be ordered via the website at www.hnarecords.com, or by emailing phase3@bellsouth.net. More details on Bohannon are available at www.myspace.com/hamiltonfbohannon.
Bohannon commented, "My children have been trying to get me to write a book for years, but then an engineer I work with heard me talking about some of my experiences in the music industry over the years, and suggested that I put together an audio book so that those memories are captured forever. I'm happy that the children of Atlanta are already able to listen to my story, and I hope that it proves equally inspirational to people across the country."
