Making the Band Alumni Beats the “Odds”

Babs Bunny makes her solo debut with the release of her video "Odds & Evens"

March 31, 2009, New York, NY — On Wednesday March 25th, Babs Bunny released the video for her first single "Odds & Evens" off her upcoming solo album. Produced Uneek Entertainment and guest starring DJ and Media Personality Ed Lover of Power 105.1FM in New York, "Odds & Evens" marks the triumphant debut of Babs as an independent artist in her post-Bad Boy career.

The "Odds & Evens" video was released exclusively on Worldstarhiphop.com, but can now be seen on thousands of websites as indicated by the 9,600+ Google search results. Currently it has over 130,000 views on Worldstarhiphop.com alone and has received rave reviews in the comments section on the site:

"That's that summer smash! Babs is that chick, keep it coming Babs."

"Babs Bunny lookin' good… The joint is fire!"

"I'm feeling that Babs. Yes finally a female lyricist making things happen. Who says there's no place for women in hip hop?"

"Babs is the truth hands down… The entire package…"

"Babs is leading the way for females right now to step up…. They can be sexy but tasteful… U go Babs! She's bringing back the art of really spittin!"

The "Odds & Evens" video shows Babs in a progression from winning a rap battle as a young girl on the streets in Brooklyn, to following her dreams of being a rapper and picking up a mic for the first time, to present day where she a rap star going shopping and having stylists, etc. and at the same time still being able to hang out with some of her same friends on the same block in Brooklyn.

Babs Bunny's Manager Uneek of Uneek Entertainment described the style and feel of the video by saying, "We tried to capture the true essence of true Hip-Hop back in the day.  Back to the days of having dancers, having fun and having a real storyline to the video and not just an artist rapping in front of the camera."

"Odds & Evens" is the first single from Babs Bunny's debut solo CD "First Lady of the Streets", distributed by Idolize Music/Ingrooves Universal, to be released this summer. The CD features Cory Gunz, Murda Mook and DJ Doo Wop.

AgencyNet and Atlantic Records Launch Fanbase Mobile Application

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) March 31, 2009 — The modern day music enthusiast is a demanding consumer. They provide open access to their lives and expect the same level of transparency and authenticity from their favorite artists. More and more, they demand a voice – an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialog with the artists themselves and with the community that surrounds them. Accordingly, Atlantic Records and AgencyNet have partnered to extend the Fanbase platform into the mobile space.

The app offers music enthusiasts a new way to connect with their favorite artists, including big names like Rob Thomas, Flo Rida, Sean Paul, Staind, Death Cab for Cutie, James Blunt, Buckcherry, Jet, Panic At The Disco, Paramore, Rush, Simple Plan, Missy Elliot, and more.

Fanbase Mobile frees fans from their computer screens and creates that dialog – allowing real-time access to artist news, photos, videos and Twitter feeds as well as giving fans a platform to respond. Users are able to communicate directly with the band by replying to Tweets, posting to the artist's "wall" – even leaving them a voicemail.

"Music is a powerful thing. No other art form comes close to the level of devotion displayed by its enthusiasts," said Brian Chiger, Digital Strategist at AgencyNet. "Since the explosion of the internet, digital has become a conduit for that passion. The intimacy of the mobile device makes it the perfect forum for artists and fans to interact."

The application, powered by a dynamic backend, allows users to switch between artist feeds quickly and easily. Each feed is fully customizable on-the-fly, allowing each artist to showcase a different look and feel as well as update their channel for special events.

Artists today recognize the value of reaching out to consumers and building relationships through digital channels. By providing their artists with innovative tools, Atlantic Records is leading the way through innovative and emerging platforms. A look at the stands of any concert and revels a panorama lit up by hundreds of tiny mobile screens. Fanbase Mobile opens an exciting opportunity for fans and artists to connect through them.

The application launches March 31st, 2009 at the CTIA conference in Las Vegas, where featured artist Rob Thomas will be headlining the Billboard Mobile Live Event.

DIGIWAXX MEDIA BECOME AGENCY OF RECORD FOR KING OF SWAG HIMSELF S. FRESH

AS HE CONTINUES ON HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL REGIONAL PROMOTIONAL TOUR

New York, NY (March 30, 2009) — Independent artist S. Fresh continues to wow audiences and convert fans to believers as he moves forward with his Southern region promotional tour. Along the way Fresh was a featured performer at this year's Southern Entertainment Awards, his single Ask Dem has been added to over 15 stations throughout the Southern region, and he has continued to be the opening act for Go DJs and T-Pain. It is because of these accomplishments and due to the overall catchiness of this current single, Ask Dem Girlz ft. Lil Boosie, that S. Fresh was featured as last week's MySpace feature artist of the week as the lone independent artist amongst the likes of Kanye West. The featured record melds a hyperactive blend of crunk chants and apocalyptic 808 bass to a solid hip hop beat has taken the internet hostage to also include over a million views on World Star Hip Hop and various features with a multitude of online sites including thesource.com, Yoraps.com and Thisis50.com.

With almost a decade in the entertainment industry under his belt after launching the entertainment company, So Slimm Entertainment in 2000, S. Fresh has been applying the fortitude and work ethic necessary to all his projects to guarantee his impending success. The Grambling State honors graduate knows what it takes to make it in this fickle music industry, "I've got a college degree, so I have that educational side and I was raised in the hood and ran the streets so I can relate to that side also. One thing about me is that I know how to carry myself and make it work for me no matter who or what the situation may be and that goes for my music too."

It was that drive and passion to succeed that put Fresh on the path to success that ultimately led him to the main page of Myspace.com. "Being featured on Myspace.com as the lone independent artist is a good look for me and I am honored for the opportunity," says the Shreveport, Louisianan native with the intriguing Southern drawl that has become his trademark. "I put a lot of work into Ask Dem Girlz but I'm already planning my next single Boss Chick that features my boy Lloyd, so to me the grind is never over".

Having opened for an impressive list of heavyweights, some of which include Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Plies and Webbie, Fresh is a show vet in many peoples eyes, but he is still excited about his current tour with Go DJs and T-Pain. "T Pain is your favorite artists favorite artists so being on tour with him is a great opportunity", says Fresh. "I'm just happy to be doing what I love, performing and making great music." And with drive like that it is no wonder why S. Fresh is on a whirlwind of success. It's his engaging personality and boyish good looks that get him noticed but it's his captivating lyrics coupled with his unique delivery that will gain the respect and attention of the masses. "I pride myself on making quality music; music with substance. With every song and album, I strive to make it a classic so that you can pop in 10 years from now. I'm bringing something fresh in the game and I want people to feel my story."

Fresh is as straightforward as his music and self proclaimed swag and he continues to move forward with his promotional and marketing campaign with Digiwaxx Media at the helm. While S. Fresh doesn't subscribe to one particular sound or style his devotion to creating mostly feel-good music is evident throughout his debut LP and subsequent mixtape releases. With the MySpace feature just one of many opportunities for S. Fresh as 2009 continues to roll out, the clever wordsmith is anxious for what's to come, as is the world.

Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival: April ‘Show and Prove’ Semifinalists

brown bag allstars, mr. beatz, cymarshall law

Brooklyn, NY, May 31st 2009
Brooklyn Bodega announced today the three semifinalists for the April 16th edition of their 'Shown and Prove' competition to find the opening act for the 5th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.

They are Mr. Beatz, The Brown Bag All Stars and Cymarshall Law.
The three acts will share the stage along with BHF Alumni Homeboy Sandman as well as DJ Parler and DJ C.J. Browne.

About the semifinalists:

Mr. Beatz – a Lyricist who tries to raise the bar with lyricism every time he gets in the vocal booth. His level of wordplay speaks for itself in each recording. He's also an MC who is known for his "off the head" freestyle skills. In fact, his freestyles are way more complex than most MCs' written lyrics. To watch him display this skill live on stage is an experience not to be missed. The Brooklyn MC has been DJ'ing and performing around New York City for years. After making the decision to become a full time artist rather than a full time student he has never looked back.
www.myspace.com/mrbeatznyc

Brown Bag All Stars – In early 2008, eight artists employed by Fat Beats New York decided to form a rap group. Every day they sold records to customers who want good, honest music. They figured they knew enough to make it themselves. They were right. The name they chose was The Brown Bag All-stars. They consist of Audible Doctor, J57, Cold Codeine, Koncept, Soul Khan, E Holla, Element, and Goo. "Brown Bag doesn't believe in VIP sections. Everybody is welcome at a Brown Bag Allstar party."
www.myspace.com/brownbagallstars

Cymarshall Law -His Jamaican parents moved his family from his birthplace in United Kingdom to the U.S. in order to give their children greater opportunities. Across the Atlantic is where Cymarshall would first meet and fall deeply in love with Hip-Hop. Cymarshall Law represents what many believe is missing from Hip-Hop today, story-telling, the ability to against the grain with originality, style and a flavor uniquely all his own.

Special guest Homeboy Sandman is a pillar of the New York Hip-Hop Scene. He was one of the openers of the 4th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. He has released two critically acclaimed albums, "Nourishment" and "Actual Factual Pterodactyl." His work has been featured in XXL, The Source, Blender, Hot 97, and Sirius/XM. He is a true example of what the Festival represents and the opportunities available for hard working artists.

On the wheels of steel once again will be DJ Parler and DJ C.J. Browne spinning the funkiest Hip-Hop beats and rhymes. djparler.blogspot.com

Ebonie Jackson, General Manager, Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival and Brooklyn Bodega, "After the success of our first 'Show and Prove' in March we are excited to return to Public Assembly and do it again. The vibe of 'Show and Prove' is so positive and empowering. It is unfiltered, no egos. Just a whole room full of people doing it for the love."

DC Artists Perform for Congress

What:           Free Concert/Teach-In

When:           April 1, 2009; 5:30 – 8:00p

Where:         West Steps of the Capitol Building, 1st Street, NW between Constitution and Independence Avenues

(WASHINGTON, DC; MAR. 30) This Wednesday, the American Civil Liberties Union of the National capital Area will take to the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building along with D.C.'s own Tabi Bonney and Grammy Award-nominated R&B singer Kyonte to protest against the gun amendment attached to the DC Voting Rights Act 2009 and to give voice to the struggle for DC Statehood.

"[The political interest] It started, I would say with the Clintons, you saw little inklings of it, but definitely since the whole Obama movement… you just see the movement of younger people carrying it and feeling that it's something important, that we can all indeed make a difference," says Bonney of the interest in civic participation he's noticed while jet-setting as an entertainer.

This free concert/teach-in is "an incredible and amazing opportunity for young people especially to raise their voices and to make clear their interest to the Congress of the United States," says Johnny Barnes, the event MC and Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of the National Capital area, "I expect it to be an evening where people learn, get involved, and hopefully Congress listens."

ABOUT DC STATEHOOD:  Since the District was created in 1801, citizens of our nation's capital have not had voting representation in Congress – although these citizens have fought and died in every war declared in the name of this union founded on the principle of no taxation without representation, and although D.C. residents pay fairly high federal taxes. The U.S. is the only democratized nation in the world whose capital citizens are disenfranchised.

To date, Congress controls the District budget and recently placed 70 limitations on how money is spent in the District including on reproductive freedom, HIV/AIDS counseling and prevention, domestic partnership benefits, and medical marijuana. To date, the District suffers from HIV/AIDS rates, poverty levels, and unemployment rates higher than the national average.

In 2006, the U.N. Human Rights Committee declared the disenfranchisement of District residents to be a violation of human rights. Recently, the Senate passed the Voting Rights Act 2009 that would grant D.C. one vote in the U.S. House of Representatives. This bill has not yet been voted on in the House. Statehood for the District would grant voting representation in both the House and Senate.
