The urban film directed by Demetrius Navarro boasts a top-tier multi-ethnic cast and crew. Press Day TBA
Los Angeles, CA Tuesday, February 17th, 2009-Rapper Down A.K.A. Kilo who rose to prominence as a music artist with his hit "Lean Like a Cholo"  has taken on the role of Executive Producer and star in the urban-comedy film "Lean Like a Cholo" based on the rap song, to be directed by Demetrius Navarro.
"Lean Like a Cholo," the film,  boasts a multi-ethnic cast that includes, Chino XL (Gang Warz), Latin sexy siren Vida Guerra, film vet John Amos (Coming to America), Tiny Lister, Emilio Rivera, music artist Big Tank and Valente Rodriguez (Ernie Cardenas,The George Lopez show).  Filming commences week ending Feb. 21st  in various Los Angeles locations.
"I've been seeing so many movies and I was inspired by Ice-Cube. When I saw him do Boys in the Hood and Friday, I felt that 'La Raza' needs their own Friday and our own home Boys in the Hood.  I wanted to do a Latino movie right and so I put my duckets together and called 'D' Demetrius Navarro of D Street Films and the rest is history.  There was a prior attempt which did not turn out right but, it's on now.  I'm getting into this more than music and I love music.Regarding the acting, I was scared and nervous but after I started and people were clapping when I did my scenes that has boosted me up, but I'm keeping things humble and just want to give my people a  movie to watch with the familia especially with the economy being so bad, we all need a good laugh. It's time for everybody to have a good time. Stay Down like Kilo."- Down A.K.A. Kilo
"I was the token Mexican in the movie Friday which catapulted my career. It was between me and B-Real and I got the role. After that, I was called for other films. It opened a lot of doors. I have to thank F. Gary Gray for giving me that opportunity. I've now got my own company D Street Films because the first film I shot was in the street. I've been working in the business for a long time and met a lot of friends and  have done right by them. When this movie came up, it had a lot of heart. Down came over, we sat down and wrote it in my den. We do not have any nudity. We wanted the fans to be proud of us and when we contacted all of these friends and reached out to them, who actually make  multi-million dollar movies. They saw it on the page (script) and liked it.
They know that we (Demetrius and Down) work hard. They've worked with me on projects I've produced in the past. 'Lean Like a Cholo' is a cinematic feature film not borderlining reality. It's in the line of the Fridays and American Pie. that genre. This is true urban comedy that transcends color lines it just so happens that it is produced by Latinos and one Italian, Enrico Natale. -Demetrius Navarro, Director http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0622860/
"As kids, Down and I grew up  together doing this thing, and then we went our separate ways but he showed the world that he could make something out of nothing. Now we have come back together and teamed back up. He signed me to his label Cholo Enterprises and he always introduces me at his concerts as his new artist and I sing my new single which will be coming out in July. Down has showed me a lot a love.  We've teamed up like brothers. It's like living a dream. Wherever he is I'm his shadow.  Demetrius, Down and me wrote this movie. When we first tried to do this we were real, real green. Now Demetrius has come through like a wing man. There is now a positive aura that is bubbling and growing. I think that's why a lot of big actors and crew have come through. It all comes from Down, his song "Lean Like a Cholo." That song is so phenomenal. He gets approached by everyone and that's a big, big thing because most people sometimes are afraid to talk to Cholos but he lets everyone know that we are positive, we have children of our own and want to be role models. This film is going to be PG-13. We're going to do it right.  Cholo Enterprises with D Street Films, a marriage made in heaven -Big Tank, Cholo Enterprises artist
Audiences can expect to laugh like crazy Cholo style with their friends of all ethnic backgrounds.
A press day (TBA) will take place, to meet and greet the multi-racial cast.
