Food for the Soul and the Body; Homewood Salvation Army Salutes Black History Month

CARNEGIE, Pa., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Hear the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Harriet Tubman and President Barack Obama through dramatizations at The Homewood Salvation Army. The organization has created a comprehensive "Salute to Black History Month" program that is free and open to the public. Slated for Tuesday, February 24th at 6:00 pm, the evening promises to feed the soul and the body through home cooked food, poetry, mime, dance and drama. Specialty booths will also be featured at the event including: World of Serenity Day Spa; Maxine Gaiter Specialty Gifts for All Occasions; Mary Williams Massage Therapist; Reverend Zoe Ministries; Unison Group; and Bridgette Ways, author of "By Ways" and "Disguised Arrogance."

"Our women's Home League ministry members have worked hard on an informative and uplifting program," said Homewood Salvation Army Captain Malinda Jones. "We encourage families to come and share in the spirit of our great African American leaders, past and present. These characterizations give life to history that many of our children have only read about." Jones continued, "And, our ladies are providing a delicious array of soul food items at no cost to those who join us."
