Chicago, IL, 1/04/09 (Hip Hop PR Wire) -- Chicago-based MC Mikkey Halsted launched his new website at the top of the year and opened by recapping major news events with "The News"; a no-nonsense wrap-up that features Soul favorite Anthony Hamilton.
"The News", which can be heard on Mikkey's site, also sparked an interview with Ruby Hornet, available in Mikkey's News section. The song presents 2008 events with a wide-angle lens – presenting third party observation and first person voices. After recounting war atrocities, politics, economic struggle, municipal turmoil, and more, Mikkey Halsted continues to challenge the system and force independent thought. Halsted and Hamilton close the cut with a positive call to action "Brothers gon' work it out, brothers gon' work it out…"
The website all features video, music, press links, and blog posts, and will offer special exclusives, such as the currently available in-studio footage of putting the finishing touches on his February EP release The Last Shall Be First as well as a video for "Karma" (produced by NO I.D.) – the second single from Chicago: The Photo Album.
Meanwhile, Mikkey's provocative video for "Liquor Store" video over 20,000 on-line views and continues to meet critical acclaim. for his cultural examinations and honest social critique during this period of Hip-Hop Enlightenment.
