Dres of Black Sheep Remixes Hip-Hop Favorite The Choice is Yours in Support of Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign

Video Serves to Inspire & Remind Voters to Use Their Voice on Election Day

New York, NY – November 3, 2008 – In celebration of Barack Obama’s legendary road to the White House, Dres of the iconic Hip-Hop duo Black Sheep has created a special video with new lyrics to The Choice is Yours in support of Obama’s campaign. Produced and under the creative strategy of Voodoo Cowboy Entertainment & Super!Alright! Media in less than two days, The Choice is Yours (Tasters Choice remix) intends to reach all voters young and old on a viral level. To view the video, please visit: http://www.superalright.com/obama08/

With its catchy phrases and jazz undertones, the video combines line art animation, motion graphics, campaign footage/photos, and live action sequences. By creating visually intriguing content that draws overt contrasts between the Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin campaigns, the video uses its rich color and imagery to divide the screen (and consequently the candidates’ political ideologies) into two distinct worlds, illustrating an obvious political separation between the parties.

The non-profit effort started with Definitive Jux co-founder Ameachi Uzoigwe, who brought the original idea to use the song in a pro-Obama video to Chris Butler of Super!Alright! and Sean Conner of Voodoo Cowboy Entertainment who then wrote, produced and directed the concept together.  "This idea literally came to me in my sleep and its amazing to see it come to fruition so quickly," says Uzoigwe.

"My ability to contribute to this campaign has been enlightening, and I hope through this video release, one person will be inspired to make change," adds Dres. For more information on Dres of Black Sheep, please visit www.myspace.com/blacksheep or contact Nicole Price of Priceless Media or Tasha Stoute of The Chamber Group.

Unsigned Artist Wins $24,000 24-Karat Gold Keyboard

Now that the event has ended, Open Labs has calculated the Beats ‘N Treats Music Festival to be a successful business venture. The two-day festival at the Mohawk club in Austin, Texas from Oct. 24 through Oct. 25 featured the Gold Rush beat competition with the grand prize a 24-karat gold NeKo LUX. After six rounds of one-on-one competitions, each contestant played their beat through an Open Labs MiKo until the final contestants played early Sunday morning. The grand prize winner was Austin resident JJ Robinson, also known as "Y2JJ" of Philliez Beats and the contest ended at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday morning. Y2JJ prevailed against Russell Lee for his sixth beat of the event, and was awarded the gold Open Labs instrument worth over $24,000 and personally owned by Open Labs co-founder and chairman, Victor Wong.

"I’m very pleased with how the entire event turned out," said Victor Wong. "We had some incredible producers travel from all over the country to participate in this event. New York, L.A., Washington, you name it, they came down for a chance to win my NeKo LUX. These musicians’ material was completely professional, and just as good as anything you hear on the top ten charts today."

Open Labs CEO, Hank Coleman, concurred. "We put a lot of time and energy into the Beats ‘N Treats Festival, and it was by all means worth it," said Coleman. "Most music festivals have a hard time getting off the ground on their first year, but this one exceeded our expectations."

Y2JJ was in awe about winning the NeKo LUX. "I’m kind of speechless," said Y2JJ. "It’s a blessing, It was almost like destiny to get this. After the first round I was confident, but after hearing the other contestants I went back to the drawing board that night, and it turned out for the best. I mainly focused on hip-hop, a lot of guitar, and made sure my bridges were all guitar leads mixed with symphonies. I wanted to make sure I kept that live feel, and then bring it back into hip-hop based on the crowd’s reaction. I’ve taken off the next week of work to spend some time with my new NeKo LUX."

After the contest ended, Victor Wong decided to donate a Timbaland Special Edition MiKo to the second place contestant Russell Lee, for displaying a fierce competition, and providing professional music.

"Although Y2JJ won a fair battle, we couldn’t just let Russell Lee go home empty handed," said Wong. "He worked really hard, displayed some incredible talent, and had a great reaction from the crowd."

The entire event was broadcast live on the Internet by multiple HD cameras, and featured live bands on the inside stage for both days, and. The outside stage featured performances by Mickael, Bavu Blakes, Mike and Ike, Union Cartel, Komodo, Perfect Strangers, and Pointbender. With a noise meter displayed on a projector screen on the back of the stage, each contestant was judged by the crowd’s reaction. For both nights, several hundred attendants filled the Mohawk’s multi-level layout, which also included an Open Labs demo booth and an Art Institute of Austin booth on the rooftop. Sponsors for the event included the Art Institute of Austin, The Austin Chronicle, Austin.com, Do512.com, Hot 93.3, Independence Brewery, Hey Cupcake!, 5th Street Studios, Treaty Oak Rum, Sample My Melodyz, The Onion Pizzeria, Pita Pit, and Vitae Med Spa.

The Rap Terrorist is coming to FM Radio

Queens Rapper puts money where his mouth is and plays positive, high-quality rap music on new FM radio program, AOmega Radio.

(NYC, New York, October 30th, 2008)—In Early 2008, a mini-documentary entitled "Rap Terrorist Goes To School" featured Queens rapper, Lavoisier, in a classroom exposing the lies and hypocrisy in the lyrics and lifestyles of popular rappers to junior high-school students. The controversial video, which unabashedly quoted and called out artists such as T.I., Nas, and 50 Cent, sky-rocketed to internet notoriety on YouTube and MySpace and quickly became a hot topic of debate among the listening public as well as industry insiders. Lavoisier, a former drug dealer and gang member from the streets of Coney Island, turned Gospel Rapper, candidly addressed the dangers of negative rap to his young audience, while calling for accountability among those who create the music. As the credits began to roll, Lavoisier forebodingly warned students that an "alternative is coming," and emphasized that it would not be subpar, recommending that they make the positive choice when it’s made available. And finally, as promised, the positive alternative to the debacle that has become rap music is officially here.

On November 2nd, 2008, on 89.1 WFDU FM at 9pm(EST), Lavoisier will hit the airwaves of the NY Metropolitan area with his own mix show, titled AOmega Radio. Hosted by Lavoisier and co-hosted by female gospel rapper, Saint Joogs, AOmega Radio provides a fresh and innovative alternative to the overly sexual, materialistic, and violent themes that dominate the airwaves in urban radio programming. The alternative is called "Gospel Hip Hop," but Lavoisier doesn’t want the word "gospel" to mislead anyone about what to expect in the content and quality of the music.

"Sex, drugs and violence in music isn’t the problem," he says. "These issues are realities that should stay at the forefront of our minds. But the perspective with which we deal with them makes all the difference."

Uncontrolled by the locked playlists and payola that lead to stale and unoriginal content, AOmega Radio is committed only to playing the best and most innovative artists out. Addressing their listeners as "Hip Hop America," Lavoisier and Saint Joogs provide a believer’s take on events, news, and culture while serving their audience with what they refer to as "strictly the freshest baked bread" in gospel hip-hop. No topic is off limits, and the duo always manages to keep it real without keeping it raunchy, making for an entertaining hip-hop experience for listeners of all ages. Along with broadcasting on 89.1 FM in the NY Metro area, AOmega Radio will also be streamed live on the web every Sunday night starting from 9pm(EST) at www.wfdu.fm

Lavoisier is signed to independent record label, AOmega Global Military, and has been featured in programming aired on BET and TBN, while his music has been featured on albums, soundtracks and national compilations distributed by Sony/BMG in upwards of 180,000 copies. "Rap Terrorist Goes To School," has received over 200,000 views on YouTube and has been featured in publications such as The Queens Chronicle, The New York Trend, The Queens Press, The Hofstra Chronicle, Illspot.net, RealTalkNY.com, and others. Former Editor-In-Chief of The Source Magazine Kim Osorio Releases Memoir

AOL’S BLACKVOICES SAYS: ‘Osorio Recounts a Work Environment Where Women Were Belittled and Harassed’

‘She Describes How She Struggled With The Extreme Highs and Lows of Her Work Environment, Weighing a Fly, Well-paying Job Against the Very Different Standards to Which Women and Men Seem to be Held’

NEW YORK, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ — Kim Osorio had a front-row seat for all the biggest beefs in hip-hop, but in STRAIGHT FROM THE SOURCE, Osorio’s explosive memoir available in stores now, she thrusts herself from the sidelines of the scandalous world to the center of one of the most fiery scandals in hip-hop history.

In a culture dominated by men, Kim rose to the top, and after years in the magazine’s pressure cooker, she hit "send" on a two-sentence email that would be the basis for her retaliation claim, in a historic court case where she would be awarded a million-dollar judgment.

From her corner office, Kim got the goods on hip-hop’s hottest names: Jay-Z, Nas, 50 Cent, Lil’ Kim and more. She developed close — and sometimes intimate relationships with the artists she worked with.

But behind the scenes; the magazine’s volatile owners would puppeteer every issue. The Source even declared war on hip-hop’s highest selling artist Eminem and began the notorious assault that would send the magazine into swift decline.

After it all came to a head, Osorio was fired, but resurfaced in 2006, filing a sexual harassment, gender discrimination, defamation and retaliation lawsuit against the Source. She details the drama in this tell-all, and provides the context for a lawsuit that has shaken up the entire music industry.

Osorio’s lawsuit was one of the few cases in the past five years that established a precedent not only within the Hip-hop community but in the entertainment business as well. She was one of the many that actually had the courage to come forward and tell her story to the world. Kim says, "I took a stand for women everywhere who have been discriminated against and I won."

Kim Osorio was the first female editor-in-chief of The Source magazine. She led the publication to some of its highest-selling issues ever before suing the magazine.

TAKE A LOOK BACK AT THE ULTIMATE COUNTDOWN SHOW WITH MTV’s “TOTAL FINALE LIVE”

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH FROM 8-10PM ET/PT

Beyoncé, 50 Cent, Backstreet Boys and Fall Out Boy Set To Perform

Los Angeles, CA – October 29, 2008 – Where were you when the video for Britney’s "…Baby One More Time" premiered?  Glued to the television watching TRL most likely!  For ten years and more than 2200 shows, "Total Request Live" has been the premier destination for first looks at new videos, amazing performances by chart topping musicians, appearances of established and up-and-coming actors, and exclusive music news. MTV will pay tribute to the legendary countdown show with a send off like no other on Sunday, November 16th beginning at 8:00pm ET/PT, with "TRL’s" original host Carson Daly and current host Damien Fahey set to helm the finale. The celebration will feature top-billed performances, guest appearances from music and movie stars, and a look back at the best moments on afternoon TV.

"In retrospect, the name said it all: the total youth entertainment experience, shaped for the first time at the request of its audience, all going down live every day in Times Square and in homes across America," said Brian Graden, President of Entertainment, MTV & VH1. "While MTV programming continues to break new ground, we knew we couldn’t rush ahead without pausing to celebrate this show, this experience, this daily thrill ride that became such a force in shaping the future web behaviors of millions of young people worldwide."

"TRL has been a major part of MTV – and the world of music – for the last decade, and we’re pulling out all the stops for ‘Total Finale Live,’" said Dave Sirulnick, MTV Executive Vice President, News and Production. "One of the aspects we’re most proud of is TRL’s impact on pop culture, whether it was through exposing hundreds of artists to fans on a daily basis or foreshadowing what goes on in today’s online communities. Audience participation, the fans’ desire to share comments, and how musicians were able to ‘connect’ on a personal basis with their fans was core to TRL, and is core to the digital music experience today."

From the days of "Bills, Bills, Bills" to the recent launch of two new videos on "TRL," we have watched Beyoncé flourish as a performer. Beyoncé will lead the way for the celebration, giving the live audience a glimpse into why she is one of the top selling artists of our time. Also picking up the microphone at "Total Finale Live" will be 50 Cent, whose new MTV series "The Money and the Power" will debut on November 6 (10PM ET/PT).

The Backstreet Boys, a band that exemplifies the impact that "TRL" has had on budding careers, will also perform once more on the "TRL" stage. Pete Wentz, who hosted video premiere show "FNMTV Premieres" this summer, will join his Fall Out Boy bandmates for a performance, three years after the band premiered their first single, "Sugar We’re Going Down," live on "TRL" at the "Summer on the Strip Vegas Beach House" in 2005, leaving viewers captivated by their unique emo-brand of punk pop. More performances will be announced at a later date.

Aside from performers and countdowns, another "TRL" staple has always been the guest appearances and "Total Finale Live" will be no exception. Diddy, whose 36 appearances on "TRL" stands as the current record, will return to the studio once more, and Mariah Carey and her five octave voice will stop by to discuss the influence that "TRL" had on her mind-blowing career. Country music chart-topper Taylor Swift and pop starlet Hilary Duff will join rappers Ludacris, Nelly and Snoop Dogg along with rock music’s Benji and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, and Korn’s Jonathan Davis to talk about their most memorable "TRL" moments.

Whether getting to the bottom of controversy or playing practical jokes on celebs, the "TRL" VJs have always been an essential part in setting the tone of the show. VJs from various years are coming back to bid adieu to the show that set a standard for music countdowns. In addition to co-hosts Carson Daly and Damien Fahey, we will also welcome back Lyndsey Rodrigues, Vanessa Minnillo, Dave Holmes, Jesse Camp, Hilarie Burton, La La Vasquez and Quddus.

"TRL’s" successful ten year run is closely attributed to the dedicated fans. Aside from the millions of votes cast for videos on the countdown, one mainstay has always been the fanatical crowds outside and inside the TRL studios, and the reaction that the show’s guests received when they waved to fans on the street. Many memorable moments took place outside of the studio, so we’re taking our cameras down to the ground level of the epicenter of New York , Times Square , to hear from screaming, sign clutching fans and give them a few special surprise moments.

Online, trl.mtv.com will be counting down to Total Finale Live with video highlights from the past ten years, photo galleries of past guests and VJs plus a decade’s worth of photo booth pics of all the celebs who’ve visited the TRL studios. On November 16, the site will feature behind-the-scenes coverage of the event, plus red carpet photos from the finale pre-show.

In addition, MTV Mobile will be featuring a variety of video of TRL’s best moments and performances across all wireless carrier partners, as along with TRL photobooth photo galleries and more on the MTV Mobile WAP site (m.mtv.com).

This week, MTV kicked off the celebration early to help viewers get revved up for the big send-off. Throughout the course of the month, TRL, MTV.com and MTV News will take a stroll down memory lane to feature special retrospective countdowns and offer a look back at the scorching performances and guest appearances as we reminisce on the best moments over the years.

MTV is the dynamic, vibrant experiment at the intersection of music, creativity and youth culture.  For over 26 years, MTV has evolved, challenged the norm, and detonated boundaries—giving each new generation a creative outlet and voice that entertains, informs and unites on every platform and screen.  On-air, MTV has been the number one rated 24 hour ad-supported cable network P12-24 for 16 straight years.  Online, MTV.com scored double-digit growth in 2007 and MTV launched 15 dynamic online communities and eight new virtual worlds.  On the go, MTV Mobile is the #1 music brand in the wireless space – delivering 90% more streams than in 2006.  And MTV’s successful sibling networks MTV2, mtvU and MTV Tr3s each deliver unprecedented customized content, super-serving music fans, college students and young American Latinos like no one else.  MTV is part of MTV Networks, a unit of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), one of the world’s leading creators of programming and content across all media platforms.  Wanna know more?  Come on in… http://www.mtvpress.com.
