The Nation’s Capitol will be bouncing to fresh beats when the hip-hop producer battle, Red Bull Big Tune, hits D.C. this month with a beatsmith battle royale. The battle in D.C. at the 930 Club will be the seventh in a series of eight national beat competition qualifiers designed to find the most talented U.S. producer. Twelve beatsmiths scrimmage head-to-head at each regional qualifier. The cities of Oakland, Houston, Detroit, Chicago, and Seattle, have already been turned upside down by Big Tune and the next stop is D.C.! Mark Ronson’s protégé and D.C. Metro’s former Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Wale, as well as renowned producer, Nottz, will also crush the stage while representing real hip-hop in their performances. The top two producers from D.C. and the other cities on the tour will then go on to square-off in December 2008 at the Red Bull Big Tune National Finals in New York City.
The winner of the competition will receive custom studio equipment and an opportunity to collaborate with a recording artist of his/her choice in the prestigious Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica, California. Last year’s Red Bull Big Tune winner opted to work with Young Buck; among other artists available for collaborations with Big Tune winners were Redman and Talib Kweli.

About Big Tune: Big Tune began as the brainchild of Vitamin D and Jonathan Moore in 2004 with the event founders’ vision to bring emerging and established talents to the forefront. After three years of hosting thriving local battles in Seattle, they forged a creative partnership with Red Bull and the event evolved beyond a beat battle into a dynamic national program for both established and up-and-coming producers.
