JACK FLASH CROWNED END OF THE WEAK (EOW) UK BATTLE CHAMPION!

On 20th September 2008, Huddersfield emcee Jack Flash took part in, and won the UK final of the End of The Weak rap battle against three other extremely talented English artists. Up against Dubbledge, Arkaic and M9, and with Chester P (Taskforce), Jehst and Reain as judges, it was always going to be a tough competition. Preceding a smashing performance from Immortal Technique, Joell Ortiz and DJ Kid Capri, all competitors showed the nature of the UKs ability to rock the mic.

After some hard fought rounds [including accapella, MC vs. DJ and the grab bag round], Jack Flash eventually took the title with his trademark ferocity and undeniable stage presence. Flash will be competing for the UK against the planets finest emcees in the world EOW final, to be held in London on a date TBC in December.

About Mulatto Patriot

Mulatto Patriot was born in Hyde Park on the Southside of Chicago, where he was raised by the influential sounds of Jazz, moody blues, and soulful house, eventually evolving into a deep-rooted passion for Hip-Hop. His music aspirations lead him to study at Full Sail World Education in Orlando where he improved his production and learned about the business. In 2003, MP returned to Chicago and launched his own production house, Mulatto Patriot Productions. He began engineering and producing for a variety of artists and experienced much success. However, MPs focus suddenly changed when a fatal health complication left him in a coma for six weeks. Despite the incident, it served as a launching pad for the young artists career, now, at the age of 29, as he prepares for his debut release, Sonic Visuals. New York, New York – September 30, 2008 – MTV teams up with entertainment powerhouse Sean Combs and revolutionary, Emmy Award winning producer Mark Burnett for the brand new reality series "StarMaker."   The new series will set out to find the next history making superstars.  MTV and Sean Combs have been developing "StarMaker" since fall of ’07 and made the decision to bring Mark Burnett on board this spring.  "StarMaker" is greenlit for January 2009.

"StarMaker" will showcase aspiring solo artists who will compete with the added pressure of living together.  In the new series, Sean Combs will continue to do what he does best on the hit series "Making The Band," spot the best talent while pushing them to their limits.  But in this new format both men and women will be competing as individuals for the top spot.  Sean Combs’ hand picked team of star makers will put them through the rigors of "StarMaker" boot camp which extends well beyond just a contestant’s ability to sing.  In addition to having to perform in front of an audience each week the contestants will be tested on how well they handle photo shoots, deal with paparazzi, physically perform on stage and more.

There’s No Doubt, A Sista Can Rock A Mic

Washington, D.C. – September 29, 2008 – The 4th Annual Can A Sista Rock A Mic? (CASRAM) Festival will feature local and national talent in Washington D.C. and Silver Spring, Maryland, October 8 – 11, 2008.

The four-day festival will feature Singer-Songwriters Liv Warfield, Grammy Nominee Emily King and Angela Johnson; New York-based Hip-hop/Reggae emcee duo, Nola Darling; DC-based artists EmoniFela, R&B singer Alison Carney and Electro-Afro beat artist Op Swamp 81; DC native Yazahrah; Atlanta-based soul singer April Hill; and New Jersey-based R&B artist Jean Baylor, formerly of hit duo Zhane and many more.   

"Can A Sista Rock A Mic? showcases some of the best live R&B and hip-hop music.  We also exhibit local artists and vendors as an effort to support the DC and Maryland community.  The best thing about CASRAM is that you can enjoy the festival with friends and family," says Kimani Anku, solSource Group co-founder. CASRAM 08 opens with an acoustic show from one of the pioneers of the new soul movement, N’Dambi! for two shows: 8pm and 10pm – 8pm opening is D.C.’s own Tamara Wellons who is slated to release her newest album this month and opening the second show is HU graduate from Atlanta, April Hill.

On Thursday A collage of hip-hop inspired performances from newcomers Bless Roxwell & Ra the MC, electric funk band OP Swamp 81, funky hip-hop’s Eagle Nebula, and electro-soulful Ms. TK Wonder (with Taylor McFerrin). This is a memorable show of unique performances that will leave you in a zone! Hosted by DC’s own XO.

Friday night will be a double hitter stating with the play:The Saartjie Project: The life and legacy of Saartjie Baartman who is also known as the Hottentot Venus. Using drama, song, dance and spoken word we explore the continued fascination of the black female form, and then CASRAM’s flyest take the stage for a live evening of rhythmic basslines and beautiful people as Canada’s Ayah makes her D.C. debut, along with Portland, Oregon’s Liv Warfield, pioneer Jean Baylor of Zhane’ fame, rising star Alison Carney and hometown heroine Yahzarah. Philadelphia, PA — Hip Hop fans have continually watched their beloved underground producers develop into platinum-selling superstars, all the while hoping that the talent and foundation of the beatsmiths will maintain the same integrity. Unfortunately, far too many producers who grew from classic boom-bap to create mega hits do not stay in touch with the very sounds that made them fan favorites.

As the buzz for their DJ Diamond Kuts single "Salt Peppa Ketchup Hot Sauce" featuring Casino, Pumpkin and D-Wizz gains popularity, the duo of DNA Beats is determined to stick to their roots in more ways than one.

Philadelphia producers Ridd and Dnali came together years ago to form DNA Beats, and had the opportunity early on to work with people they admired like the legendary production team Gamble & Huff and Will Hunt of The Delphonics. In the past two years alone, DNA has produced for budding Philly stars with national buzz like Bump J, Peedi Peedi and Gillie Da Kid.

In 2008, they created magic with Power 99 DJ Diamond Kuts on her song "Salt Peppa Ketchup Hot Sauce," which became an instant local hit. "We’re trying to take some of the late ’80s stuff back," Ridd says of the track. "Our whole vision was imagining if Roxanne Shante came out with a record right now. We’re not making it more club-friendly, we’re just providing all of the elements that have worked."

With a video on the horizon, the work with DJ Diamond Kuts has definitely given DNA Beats a leg up in their mission to bring forth a new-age sound for the region. They are developing futuristic sounds for artists like Casino (songwriter and featured vocalist on "Salt Peppa Ketchup Hot Sauce"), PFL (Playas 4 Life), Hip-Pop group DaCav5, Hip Hop artists Young Tre and Five Mics and more. Additionally, they have tracks recorded with several major label artists including Bow Wow, Lil Mama, Rocko, Flo-Rida, Tiffany Evans and more.

DNA Beats is actively working with Status Management to refresh Philly’s style for the world, and add their own flair to artists’ work in other regions. "We definitely want to make an impact in the industry," explains Dnali. "We’re not trying to be the one-hit wonders – we strive to make sure we’re on top of our game. We definitely feel we’re in a position to make an impact just off of basic elements of our sound."

SPECIAL NEEDS AGENCY CONTINUES TO INFORM AND EMPOWER RESIDENTS THROUGH SERIES OF NON-PARTISAN VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVES

HAMPTON ROADS, VA (September 29, 2008) – As the deadline for individuals to register for the next General Election fastly approaches, Circle of Friends, LLC is continuing their community-wide efforts to bring awareness to unregistered residents of Hampton Roads.  Providing voter registration applications for individuals who are unregistered, have moved or are felons, Valencia Ballard, President of Circle of Friends, LLC, is well within her goal of empowering Hampton Roads populace.

To continue a work that has been in progress for quite some time, Ballard and a team of professionals will finalize their efforts this week on Tuesday, September 30th and Saturday, October 4th.  The deadline to register to vote for the November 4th General Election is October 6th.

Information and applications for military voters, absentee voters, violent and non-violent felons and more can be obtained at the registration site.  Circle of Friends has worked closely with Mr. Gary Ellis, Voter Registration Coordinator for the State Board of Elections, in order to obtain the most up to date information regarding voter’s rights in the state of Virginia .  Phase III of the COF voter registration drives will take place on the following:
