Pharoahe Monch to Host CMJ's International Hip-Hop Event GLOBAL HIP HOP THROWDOWN

Event Will Unite the Talents of Global Hip-Hop's Rising Stars at New York Cities' Largest Music Conference and Networking Event

Global music and media company NOMADIC WAX & public relations/music promoter THE BLOOM EFFECT have joined forces and will co-produce this year's CMJ INTERNATIONAL HIP-HOP THROW-DOWN. The  event will unite the talents of a creative and diverse group of lyricists and DJs from Africa, Korea, Canada, and Europe at club DROM, located at 85 Ave A in New York's East Village on Thursday October 23rd 2008. The event will begin at 8 PM and will last until 3 AM and will feature live international hip-hop music and DJs spinning music.

The College Music Journal Marathon (CMJ) is New York's largest music, film and media conference and will host hundreds of live performances, films, lectures and networking events. "CMJ is a perfect place for a global hip-hop event like this" said The Bloom Effect CEO, Fiona Bloom. "An event that unites MCs from a variety of backgrounds, countries and nationalities is exactly the kind of event that we want to be promoting at a global music conference like CMJ".

The CMJ International Hip-Hop Throw-down has  been building up for me since I've been very supportive of this genre and have made inroads bringing great talent to the U.S stages and now we bring it one step further to a bigger platform.   A tremendous opportunity.  To have an artist like Pharoahe  host this event is such an honor and is testament to the fact that international hip-hop is becoming more accepted by the mainstream." said Nomadic Wax founder Ben Herson.

This years event will feature a handful of rising stars including Blitz the Ambassador (Ghana),  Drunken Tiger( Korea ), King Reign (Canada), Empire Isis (Canada), Chachi (Cape Verde) and Too Many Fish France). Dj's Boo and DJ Soulscape from Korea will be on the turntables.    V.J Kwon  from Korea will set the tone and visuals for the night.  Blitz the Ambassador (who will be backed by a 10 piece band, "The Embassy Ensemble") is no stranger to international hip-hop. Last year, Blitz headlined and hosted at the prestigious Trinity International Hip-Hop Festival, a three day global hip-hop event at Trinity College in Hartford CT.

"It's incredible to see such diversity in an event like this" said Blitz. "To have artists from all over the world performing on the same stage together shows how global and powerful hip-hop culture has become".

The showcase will end out with a party DJ line up of World Music Dj's from various radio programs and entities.   The party will go till 3am.

This years event will be sponsored by Scion, WNYE (New York Public Radio), Fusicology, World Hip-Hop Market, Remix Hotel, End of the Weak, The Flava(Worldspace), Popular Printing,  Lima Chips, The Hip-Hop Association and more TBA.

The International Hip Hop showcase is the only one of its kind during CMJ.

DILATED PEOPLES & BEAT JUNKIES DJ/PRODUCER, DJ BABU, PREPS THE RELEASE OF HIS LONG AWAITED STUDIO LP DUCK SEASON 3

DJ BABU'S DUCK SEASON 3 FEATURES TRACKS WITH BISHOP LAMONT, MF DOOM, DILATED PEOPLES, SEAN PRICE, TERMANOLOGY, M.O.P., LITTLE BROTHER, KARDINAL OFFISHAL, STRONG ARM STEADY, GUILTY SIMPSON, PERCEE P, A.G

September 30th, 2008
A world-famous DJ with active memberships in Dilated Peoples and Beat Junkies among his most notable accomplishments, DJ Babu has made a noteworthy evolution.  The Los Angeles-based turntablist also stands as one of underground rap's fastest-rising producers.

Waiting almost five years after the release of the previous Duck Season installments, DJ BABU has been carefully crafting the final saga in his highly acclaimed hip-hop trilogy. What started out for Babu as a DJ compilation, the Duck Season series has come full circle to become a production showcase for the legendary turntablist; not to mention, his finest work to date.

"It started out as a mixtape that featured some of my favorite tracks," explains DJ Babu. "Now it has fully evolved into a platform of my own production. The album is still presented in the classic Beat Junkie mixtape style, but that's just a clever way for me to disguise my LP."  Indeed, working with Dilated Peoples aided DJ Babu in his evolution as a producer.  Throughout the trio's four albums, DJ Babu was steadily gaining knowledge and insight on how to craft meaningful and memorable soundbeds.  Now, he has combined his far-reaching creative abilities into one project, the rock-solid Duck Season 3.

This evolution from DJ to producer is on full display throughout DJ Babu's sonically superior Duck Season 3.  The fast-moving collection showcases all of Babu's quickly expanding talents, from mixing, juggling, blending and scratching -- as well as producing.  Entirely produced by Babu, the line-up on Duck Season 3 reads like a hip-hop's who's who. While Babu includes many familiar faces like M.O.P., MF DOOM, Dilated Peoples and Sean Price, he also plants his ear to the streets, recruiting some of today's hottest new talent like Bishop Lamont and Termanology.

A West Coast veteran in his own right, Babu has achieved a sound that can't be labeled by region or style. This album could be equally appreciated in the Bronx, Compton or anywhere in between. Duck Season 3 is a treat for all the true B-Boy's out there and a testament to the fact that hip-hop's golden era is alive and well and as Babu concludes the vine between the golden era and today is still deeply rooted "allot of the DJs that I looked up to became great producers, from Dr. Dre to DJ Premier to Pete Rock.  In a lot of ways, I'm trying to carry that same torch, where hip-hop is still rooted within DJing and records."

TERMANOLOGY TO JOIN METHOD MAN AND REDMAN ON "STILL HIGH TOUR"

TERMANOLOGY'S DEBUT "POLITICS AS USUAL" IN STORES TODAY

September 30th, 2008
New York, NY - Massachusetts-bred; New York-based rapper Termanology's debut LP, Politics As Usual, is in stores today (9-30-08).  One of this year's most anticipated albums; Politics As Usual is a joint venture between Term's own ST. Records and Indy powerhouse Nature Sounds.  Termanology's debut merges the best of both worlds for all Hip-Hop fans, as its meshes classic boom-bap production from a virtual who's who list of production royalty; DJ Premier, Hi-Tek, Pete Rock, The Alchemist, Havoc, Buckwild, Nottz and Large Professor all provide tracks and it also includes guest appearances from Prodigy, Sheek Louch, Freeway, Lil Fame and UGK's Bun B who guests on the LP's DJ Premier produced lead-single "How We Rock."

At the onset of 2006, Term caught his big break when legendary producer DJ Premier, whom he met three years earlier, finally blessed him with one of his signature, scratch-laden beats. "Watch How It Go Down" instantly became an underground classic and Termanology appeared on Hip-Hop's international radar. The conscious hood anthem garnered the earnest MC tons of praise, landing him in The Source's "Unsigned Hype" and XXL's "Show and Prove" columns.

Since then, Termanology has quickly climbed the industry ranks with his Hood Politics mixtape series and his debut, Politics As Usual, has a huge buzz on the Internet and has also been included in Source, XXL, XLR8R, Remix and Spin Magazine's (Look for Term in the Dec 2008 issue of Spin Magazine where he will be featured as a "Break Out" artist).

The opportunity to join two legends like Method Man and Redman on their "Still High" tour is very gratifying for Term as he laments "I've been listening to Method Man and Redman my whole life and it's an honor to tour with them.  I look forward to tearing it down for the fans."

JUS BLEEZY GO HARD OR GO HOME PROMO TOUR - COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU

Hot out of St. Louis, and already a long-established staple in the streets of the Midwest, with a host of successful mixtapes, tours and radio singles under his belt, Just Black aka Jus Bleezy is poised to give fans a precursory taste of his own brand of Midwestern magic with the October 21st release of Go Hard or Go Home, hosted by the legendary DJ Khaled. Also featuring long-time friends Rick Ross, Murphy Lee and Fat Joe, this compelling 16-track mixtape is sure to whet the appetite of any fan of that street music that no one delivers quite like Jus Bleezy.

Growing up on some of the meanest streets of St. Louis, Jus Bleezy quickly became intimately familiar with their codes of violence. During those years, he often found himself on street corners, spitting volcanic tales of those codes and their consequences, until his distinctive, blatant-hustler style and gritty flow had made him a household name in the underground music scene of his hometown. It was these same codes that eventually landed Bleezy lying bullet-riddled on a sidewalk, with a chalk outline drawn around his body by detectives, presumed dead.

Jus Bleezy survived however and decided to redirect his hustle to the music industry, forming the Black on Black/Quit Playin' Entertainment (BOBQP) independent label he now runs with his colleague Guccio. Bleezy's first radio single as a solo artist, Women Ain't All Bad, enjoyed prominent rotation at Urban and Rhythmic formats for several months, bringing his hustle to the attention of the majors. This and the sales of his many mixtapes caused Universal Records to seek him out and offer him a joint venture deal for his JBE (Jus Bleezy Entertainment) offshoot label via Universal/Fontana. His major label debut will be in stores in early 2009.

More recently, Bleezy's Drumma Boy-produced song, I'm Coming For Ya, caught the attention of the producers at MTV's new reality show, From G's to Gents and it recently made its network television debut there. A music video to his lead single was also just shot and is currently in the editing stage.

October sees the beginning of Jus Bleezy's multi-city promo tour and the dates are provided at the bottom of this email. He is available for all media opportunities in each city so please hit us up with your requests.

Below is a link to download Jus Bleezy's first single, Bosses. We encourage you to post it on your websites, put it on your mixtapes and add it to rotation. If the success of his previous effort, Like Me ft. Trey Songz, is anything to go by, you can't go wrong with this one.

Huge congratulations go out to DJ Fly from France who took the solo title on Saturday night, Kireek who blitzed the competition to take the Team Championship Title for a 2nd year and to UK entrant DJ Switch who took the Battle for World Supremacy competition by storm and emerged victorious on Friday night.

The final three placing DJs for the DMC World DJ Championship after the judges had deliberated all the performances from the DJs were:

1. DJ Fly (France)

UK entrant and regularly crowned UK Champion DJ Skully came 4th.

The Team Championship was once again an excellent and intricate display of interplay between numerous DJs working together to create a singular sound and set. Japanese entrant Kireek once again dominated after taking the title last year and spun together a set worthy of the top spot scooping the title, $10,000 courtesy of Ortofon and £1000 worth of Drunknmunky clothing to split between them (along with each of their DMC Gold Disc Awards, ckIN2U goody bags and top of the line RANE TTM57 Mixers!)

'UK STUNNERS' PREPARE TO UNVEIL 2009 CALENDAR AND LAUNCH OF KAYA FOUNDATION AT EXCLUSIVE CELEBRITY EVENT IN LONDON

UK Stunners To Showcase 2009 Calendar At Exclusive Launch Event

London, UK (September 30, 2008) – The UK Stunners will be revealing their hottest calendar to-date at an exclusive launch event at London hotspot and celebrity favourite Studio Valbonne, London, on Sunday October 5th 2008. Bringing together the UK's hottest models and celebrities, past and present 'UK Stunners' will take part in a fashion show that will exhibit upcoming UK designers. The event will also introduce the 'Kaya Foundation' -a foundation set up in memory of UK Stunners Founder Kaya Bousquet- who sadly passed away earlier this year after being involved in a tragic car accident. The Kaya Foundation will aim to provide much needed help to some of the UK's most disadvantaged young people. The event will also include a live auction, a performance by UK rapper Sway, and surprise celebrity guests.

"It's heartbreaking that I have put the calendar together without Kaya this year, but I feel she would want me to continue what she started- showing the world that the best looking females are not necessarily the ones we see in US music videos, TV shows or movies- we have just as attractive ladies right here in the UK" says Sequoia Bousquet, Kaya's sister and Director of UK Stunners. "Since 2007 Kaya worked hard to make sure she chose the right girls for the calendar, not purely based on their physical attributes but also for their ability to show that they have the brains to match the beauty."

Joining The UK Stunners for this unprecedented event will be Solomon Kalou and his Chelsea FC teammates, Daniel Bedingfield, rappers Sway and Dizzee Rascal, actor Asher D, Tim Westwood, Calum Best and Ashley Cole as well as other well known stars from the entertainment world.  Sponsors include Sleek make-up, Solomon Kalou of Chelsea FC, Mega Hair Brazil and Punky Fish.

About UK Stunners

UK Stunners was established in 2007 by model and actress Kaya Bousquet. After years of starring in numerous videos for the biggest selling artists including Young Jeezy, R. Kelly, The Game, 50 Cent and Dizzee Rascal, Kaya decided she wanted to get into something more challenging. Bousquet saw the calendar as a platform to showcase the UK's most stunning females who were often cast aside and overlooked when auditioning for movies, videos and TV shows. Our company has committed to bringing in a record 50,000 people to be registered to vote from around the country and I wanted to step up and get my morning show listeners that are not registered, to get involved and do so. I will broadcast around the clock until I get 5,000 unregistered voters registered and ready to do their part on November 4th."

Station Program Director, Terri Thomas tells us, "Madd Hatta is going above and beyond by pledging to get 5,000 people to register. He is definitely championing Radio One's cause for the station and is committed to staying at Sharpstown for as long as is necessary."

About Mulatto Patriot

Mulatto Patriot was born in Hyde Park on the Southside of Chicago, where he was raised by the influential sounds of Jazz, moody blues, and soulful house, eventually evolving into a deep-rooted passion for Hip-Hop. His music aspirations lead him to study at Full Sail World Education in Orlando where he improved his production and learned about the business. In 2003, MP returned to Chicago and launched his own production house, Mulatto Patriot Productions. He began engineering and producing for a variety of artists and experienced much success. However, MPs focus suddenly changed when a fatal health complication left him in a coma for six weeks. Despite the incident, it served as a launching pad for the young artists career, now, at the age of 29, as he prepares for his debut release, Sonic Visuals. The album features a long list of accomplished artists including Ras Kass, Casual (Hieroglyphics), Pumpkinhead (Brooklyn Academy), Decay (molemen) and Pugslee Atomz, which keep the music diverse and reflecting different styles.

MTV TEAMS UP WITH SEAN "DIDDY" COMBS AND MARK BURNETT TO SEARCH FOR NEXT AMERICAN MUSIC SUPERSTAR WITH NEW REALITY SERIES "STARMAKER"

GREENLIT FOR JANUARY '09

New York, New York – September 30, 2008 – MTV teams up with entertainment powerhouse Sean Combs and revolutionary, Emmy Award winning producer Mark Burnett for the brand new reality series "StarMaker."   The new series will set out to find the next history making superstars.  MTV and Sean Combs have been developing "StarMaker" since fall of '07 and made the decision to bring Mark Burnett on board this spring.  "StarMaker" is greenlit for January 2009.

"StarMaker" will showcase aspiring solo artists who will compete with the added pressure of living together.  In the new series, Sean Combs will continue to do what he does best on the hit series "Making The Band," spot the best talent while pushing them to their limits.  But in this new format both men and women will be competing as individuals for the top spot.  Sean Combs' hand picked team of star makers will put them through the rigors of "StarMaker" boot camp which extends well beyond just a contestant's ability to sing.  In addition to having to perform in front of an audience each week the contestants will be tested on how well they handle photo shoots, deal with paparazzi, physically perform on stage and more.

"It's a privilege to partner with Mark Burnett on my latest television venture.  He is one of the industry's best.  I am confident that we will do great things together with "StarMaker" and beyond," remarks Sean Combs.

"I'm looking forward to collaborating with MTV and Sean Combs on this new project" said Mark Burnett.  "StarMaker will open the door to the tremendous amount of talent out there just waiting to be discovered.  We've created a platform that will allow new and emerging artists a chance to showcase their talents to some of the industry's best."

"Sean Combs and Mark Burnett are leaders in the entertainment industry and have both been an integral part of MTV's success throughout the years," said Tony DiSanto, EVP Series Development & Programming, MTV.  "Getting these two titans of media together, with their long history of hits across platforms but especially in TV and music is a formula for spectacle, drama and the unexpected."

Emmy nominated executive producer for "Raisin in the Sun," Sean Combs is the ultimate American entertainer and entrepreneur, while wearing many different hats as record producer, CEO, clothing designer, actor, rapper and much, much more. He's made hit records, huge business deals, designer clothing and founded the chart-topping artists Danity Kane and Day26.  "StarMaker" will join an already impressive roster of television shows that Sean Combs has executive produced including the hit MTV series "Making The Band," "Run's House" and the most recent VH1 show that he created "I Want to Work For Diddy."

One of the driving forces behind reality television and a true visionary, Mark Burnett has enjoyed a long history of executive producing Emmy Award-winning television, with "Survivor" (CBS) "The Apprentice" (NBC), "Rock Star" (CBS), "Contender" (ESPN) and "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?" (FOX).  In 2007 and 2008, Burnett produced the MTV Movie Awards and will again in 2009.  Burnett's entrepreneurial spirit pioneered the success of the reality "unscripted" drama series, garnered skyrocketing ratings and introduced millions worldwide to an entirely new television genre.

"StarMaker" is executive produced by Sean "Diddy" Combs, Mark Burnett and Audrey Morrissey.  Co-executive producers are Jim Roush and Lee Metzger and Jane Mun is supervising producer.  Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley and Jacquelyn French serve as Executive Producers for MTV.

SEAN COMBS, the CEO and founder of Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment Group is a multifaceted entertainment powerhouse. Sean "Diddy" Combs was recently declared "One of the Most Influential Businessmen in the World" by Time Magazine and CNN. Combs, 38 oversees one of the world's preeminent urban entertainment companies, encompassing a broad range of businesses including recording, music publishing, artist management, television and film production, recording facility, apparel and restaurants.

About Mark Burnett Productions

Mark Burnett Productions (MBP) has produced over 1,100 hours of television programming which regularly airs in over 70 countries around the world.  MBP revolutionized television with hits such as Survivor (CBS), The Apprentice (NBC), The Contender (ESPN), Rock  Star (CBS), Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (FOX), which is currently being produced in 51 countries and the daytime syndicated hit Martha (about to begin its 4th season). In the summers of 2007 and 2008, MBP  entered the world of Award Shows, when Mark Burnett served as executive producer for the MTV Movie Awards.  Since 2001, MBP has garnered a total of 51 Emmy nominations with 5 wins, and has won 4 People¹s Choice Awards.  Mark Burnett has been named one  of the most influential people in the world by TIME magazine and named TV Guide¹s most valuable player.  He has won both BRANDWEEK¹S Marketer of the Year Award and the prestigious ROSE D¹OR FRAPA Format Award.  In 2007, Mark Burnett was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame. DNA Beats Brightens Philly Radio with DJ Diamond Kuts

"Salt Peppa Ketchup Hot Sauce" a Hit for Philly Hip Hop

Upcoming work with Bow Wow, Rocko, Flo-Rida and More!

September 29, 2008
Philadelphia, PA -- Hip Hop fans have continually watched their beloved underground producers develop into platinum-selling superstars, all the while hoping that the talent and foundation of the beatsmiths will maintain the same integrity. Unfortunately, far too many producers who grew from classic boom-bap to create mega hits do not stay in touch with the very sounds that made them fan favorites.

As the buzz for their DJ Diamond Kuts single "Salt Peppa Ketchup Hot Sauce" featuring Casino, Pumpkin and D-Wizz gains popularity, the duo of DNA Beats is determined to stick to their roots in more ways than one.

Philadelphia producers Ridd and Dnali came together years ago to form DNA Beats, and had the opportunity early on to work with people they admired like the legendary production team Gamble & Huff and Will Hunt of The Delphonics. In the past two years alone, DNA has produced for budding Philly stars with national buzz like Bump J, Peedi Peedi and Gillie Da Kid.

In 2008, they created magic with Power 99 DJ Diamond Kuts on her song "Salt Peppa Ketchup Hot Sauce," which became an instant local hit. "We're trying to take some of the late '80s stuff back," Ridd says of the track. "Our whole vision was imagining if Roxanne Shante came out with a record right now. We're not making it more club-friendly, we're just providing all of the elements that have worked."

With a video on the horizon, the work with DJ Diamond Kuts has definitely given DNA Beats a leg up in their mission to bring forth a new-age sound for the region. They are developing futuristic sounds for artists like Casino (songwriter and featured vocalist on "Salt Peppa Ketchup Hot Sauce"), PFL (Playas 4 Life), Hip-Pop group DaCav5, Hip Hop artists Young Tre and Five Mics and more. Additionally, they have tracks recorded with several major label artists including Bow Wow, Lil Mama, Rocko, Flo-Rida, Tiffany Evans and more.

DNA Beats is actively working with Status Management to refresh Philly's style for the world, and add their own flair to artists' work in other regions. "We definitely want to make an impact in the industry," explains Dnali. "We're not trying to be the one-hit wonders - we strive to make sure we're on top of our game. We definitely feel we're in a position to make an impact just off of basic elements of our sound."

Gucci Mane's Hood Classics Weighed Up-Digital By Big Cat

ATLANTA, September 25, 2008-With Gucci Mane on lockdown, Big Cat laced the block on September 23, with the rapper's Hood Classics, a dope boy's triple beam dream.

Weighed up digital by Big Cat, with 18 ghetto gold trap-anthemsGucci Banner, Hood Classics rounds out the troubled Southern Hip Hop star's catalog and is a must-have for any Gucci Mane addict. Hood Classics officially has the streets on lock, (no pun intended).

The release is accompanied by a 35 minute DVD of never-before seen footage, which gives fans a closer look at Gucci Mane's journey from the Trap House to mainstream and back. Now that the artist is once again behind bars, the streets must recognize that Hood Classics is more than mere talk; every Gucci story is raw and real.

Young Jeezy, Killa Mike, and Bun B, among other rappers fluent in the streets are featured on Hood Classics. The record includes hot singles such as "I'm the Sh*t" and the unreleased "2008, So Icy Remix."

Gucci Mane's career jumped off in 2005 when he brought us "Icy" featuring Young Jeezy, which quickly became a hood hit bumped in whips across the country. Big Cat Records, ATL's Independently Made and Independently Paid indie, subsequently released the commercially successful Trap House, Hard to Kill and Trap-A-Thon LPs.

Hip Hop Heavyweights Go In With Kilogram

Trenton NJ, September 27, 2008 -- Hip Hop is alive could be the slogan for Kilogram's latest CD/DVD "I Go In". The CD/DVD features such hip hop heavyweights as Lupe Fiasco, Maino, DJ Kay Slay, Bun-B, Peedie Crack, E-Ness, Gillie Da Kid, and many others. LOS ANGELES, CA...Latin hip-hop pioneer, Sen Dog (aka Senen Reyes) from Cypress Hill, has accepted a special invitation to peform at the highly-anticipated, "We The People" festival on September 27 in Los Angeles. Sen was personally asked to represent West Coast hip-hop at this historic event. He will perform the tracks, "Capo" and "Fumble" from his forthcoming album, Diary of A Mad Dog due out September 30 on Suburban Noize Records.  The Latin Thug will share the bill with the top music artists today, including Les Claypool, The RZA, EPMD, Barrington Levy, Tom Morello and others. His set is scheduled for 9:15pm-9:25pm, which positions him between sets by Tom Morello and EPMD! http://www.wethepeoplefestival.com/

Take a minute to check out Diary of A Mad Dog for yourself at www.myspace.com/sendog

Sen Dog's bark is louder than ever on his debut. Taking matters of money, faith and family to the music, Sen Dog sets out to unleash personal dramas in a no-holds-barred symposium of introspection and a narrative insight into his life.  Diary of A Mad Dog is a cathartic release for the rabid emcee, but totally accessible to a ravenous audience eager for a solid Sen Dog assault.  A few of the Cali pals found on Diary of a Mad Dog include Tangled Thoughts, DJ Ace, and even his Cypress Hill partner B-Real joins in on the attack.

"I've done the whole dark, morbid thing and the whole rock n' roll crossover thing. I'm not going to have an agenda on this; I'm going to jam and record whatever is fun to me," says Sen Dog about his first ever solo offering. "With Cypress Hill I'm working with B-Real and DJ Muggs, but with my solo material it's a bit more of a challenge and more rewarding for me as a songwriter when I come up with tracks and they sound banging" he adds.

Sen Dog is true pioneer. His iconic group, Cypress Hill, have been credited as the first Latin hip-hop superstars. As co-frontman of the band, Sen has been instrumental in breaking down the door for other West Coast hip-hop artists in the Latin, urban and rock/rap hybrid genres. With #1 albums on the Billboard Charts (Black Sunday), Top 10 singles ("How Could I Just Kill a Man", "Insane In The Brain" and "Rock Superstar") and countless platinum and gold plaques (over 17 million albums sold worldwide), Sen Dog has certainly earned his stripes as an OG committed to pushing music forward.

Exclusive Desi Hits! In-Studio Interview with Wyclef Jean

"Talks About 'Hollywood Meets Bollywood' Remix & Hip-Hop's Fusion with 'Urban Desi'

New York, N.Y., September 25, 2008 – Desi Hits! is launching an exclusive one-on-one behind-the-scenes video interview with Wyclef Jean. The Grammy Award-winning star discusses his remix of "Hollywood Meets Bollywood" from his album Carnival Vol. 2: Memoirs of an Immigrant and the increasingly popular fusion between Hip-Hop and other popular Western music genres with Eastern Desi influences to create Urban Desi music.

Never afraid of exploring new sounds and rhythms Wyclef's remix of "Hollywood Meets Bollywood" was created in tribute to Hindi cinema. By featuring Bollywood icons Abhishek Bachchan – considered by many as "India's Al Pacino" – and Aadesh Shrivastava, arguably India's best composer, Wyclef accomplished his goal of creating a genuine East/West fusion of Hip-Hop.

"There is a true fusion now of what we do in Hip-Hop," says Wyclef during the in-studio interview. "I wanted to put the whole synergy of where we come from and where [Abhishek] comes from and put it on one record. [Hollywood Meets Bollywood] ain't official yet until it's really Bollywood Meets Hollywood!"

Wyclef's interview with Jay Gatzby from DesiHits.com's The Corner is the first in a series of video programs, dubbed webisodes, the website will launch featuring artists from SONY BMG and Warner Music Group as the labels continue to embrace and collaborate with Bollywood and Urban Desi culture. The webisodes are intended to showcase popular Western artists embracing every aspect of Desi culture including cuisine, fashion, Bollywood and more.

"Desi Hits has coined the term 'Urban Desi' to define the emerging genre of music encompassing popular Western mainstream music like hip-hop, pop and rock fused with Eastern Desi influences," says Anjula Acharia-Bath, co-founder and chief executive officer of Desi Hits!. "Wyclef is an international musician and we are thrilled to have his exclusive 'Hollywood Meets Bollywood' interview as this genre of music fully encompasses the essence of Desi Hits!"

With Bollywood becoming a phenomenon in all industries including film, fashion and music, artists have been incorporating Desi beats within their music for a long time – just think Jay-Z's "Beware of the Boys" with Punjabi MC or Truth Hurts "Addictive." At the heart of this trend has been the multimedia website DesiHits.com, which is the number one hub for this East/West music and lifestyle fusion on the Internet.
