Pharoahe Monch to Host CMJ’s International Hip-Hop Event GLOBAL HIP HOP THROWDOWN

Event Will Unite the Talents of Global Hip-Hop’s Rising Stars at New York Cities’ Largest Music Conference and Networking Event

Global music and media company NOMADIC WAX & public relations/music promoter THE BLOOM EFFECT have joined forces and will co-produce this year’s CMJ INTERNATIONAL HIP-HOP THROW-DOWN. The  event will unite the talents of a creative and diverse group of lyricists and DJs from Africa, Korea, Canada, and Europe at club DROM, located at 85 Ave A in New York’s East Village on Thursday October 23rd 2008. The event will begin at 8 PM and will last until 3 AM and will feature live international hip-hop music and DJs spinning music.

The College Music Journal Marathon (CMJ) is New York’s largest music, film and media conference and will host hundreds of live performances, films, lectures and networking events. "CMJ is a perfect place for a global hip-hop event like this" said The Bloom Effect CEO, Fiona Bloom. "An event that unites MCs from a variety of backgrounds, countries and nationalities is exactly the kind of event that we want to be promoting at a global music conference like CMJ".

The CMJ International Hip-Hop Throw-down has  been building up for me since I’ve been very supportive of this genre and have made inroads bringing great talent to the U.S stages and now we bring it one step further to a bigger platform.   A tremendous opportunity.  To have an artist like Pharoahe  host this event is such an honor and is testament to the fact that international hip-hop is becoming more accepted by the mainstream." said Nomadic Wax founder Ben Herson.

This years event will feature a handful of rising stars including Blitz the Ambassador (Ghana),  Drunken Tiger( Korea ), King Reign (Canada), Empire Isis (Canada), Chachi (Cape Verde) and Too Many Fish France). Dj’s Boo and DJ Soulscape from Korea will be on the turntables.    V.J Kwon  from Korea will set the tone and visuals for the night.  Blitz the Ambassador (who will be backed by a 10 piece band, "The Embassy Ensemble") is no stranger to international hip-hop. Last year, Blitz headlined and hosted at the prestigious Trinity International Hip-Hop Festival, a three day global hip-hop event at Trinity College in Hartford CT.

"It’s incredible to see such diversity in an event like this" said Blitz. "To have artists from all over the world performing on the same stage together shows how global and powerful hip-hop culture has become".

The showcase will end out with a party DJ line up of World Music Dj’s from various radio programs and entities.   The party will go till 3am.

This years event will be sponsored by Scion, WNYE (New York Public Radio), Fusicology, World Hip-Hop Market, Remix Hotel, End of the Weak, The Flava(Worldspace), Popular Printing,  Lima Chips, The Hip-Hop Association and more TBA.

DILATED PEOPLES & BEAT JUNKIES DJ/PRODUCER, DJ BABU, PREPS THE RELEASE OF HIS LONG AWAITED STUDIO LP DUCK SEASON 3

DJ BABU’S DUCK SEASON 3 FEATURES TRACKS WITH BISHOP LAMONT, MF DOOM, DILATED PEOPLES, SEAN PRICE, TERMANOLOGY, M.O.P., LITTLE BROTHER, KARDINAL OFFISHAL, STRONG ARM STEADY, GUILTY SIMPSON, PERCEE P, A.G

September 30th, 2008
A world-famous DJ with active memberships in Dilated Peoples and Beat Junkies among his most notable accomplishments, DJ Babu has made a noteworthy evolution.  The Los Angeles-based turntablist also stands as one of underground rap’s fastest-rising producers.

Waiting almost five years after the release of the previous Duck Season installments, DJ BABU has been carefully crafting the final saga in his highly acclaimed hip-hop trilogy. What started out for Babu as a DJ compilation, the Duck Season series has come full circle to become a production showcase for the legendary turntablist; not to mention, his finest work to date.

"It started out as a mixtape that featured some of my favorite tracks," explains DJ Babu. "Now it has fully evolved into a platform of my own production. The album is still presented in the classic Beat Junkie mixtape style, but that’s just a clever way for me to disguise my LP."  Indeed, working with Dilated Peoples aided DJ Babu in his evolution as a producer.  Throughout the trio’s four albums, DJ Babu was steadily gaining knowledge and insight on how to craft meaningful and memorable soundbeds.  Now, he has combined his far-reaching creative abilities into one project, the rock-solid Duck Season 3.

This evolution from DJ to producer is on full display throughout DJ Babu’s sonically superior Duck Season 3.  The fast-moving collection showcases all of Babu’s quickly expanding talents, from mixing, juggling, blending and scratching — as well as producing.  Entirely produced by Babu, the line-up on Duck Season 3 reads like a hip-hop’s who’s who. While Babu includes many familiar faces like M.O.P., MF DOOM, Dilated Peoples and Sean Price, he also plants his ear to the streets, recruiting some of today’s hottest new talent like Bishop Lamont and Termanology.

A West Coast veteran in his own right, Babu has achieved a sound that can’t be labeled by region or style. This album could be equally appreciated in the Bronx, Compton or anywhere in between. Duck Season 3 is a treat for all the true B-Boy’s out there and a testament to the fact that hip-hop’s golden era is alive and well and as Babu concludes the vine between the golden era and today is still deeply rooted "allot of the DJs that I looked up to became great producers, from Dr. Dre to DJ Premier to Pete Rock.  In a lot of ways, I’m trying to carry that same torch, where hip-hop is still rooted within DJing and records."

TERMANOLOGY TO JOIN METHOD MAN AND REDMAN ON “STILL HIGH TOUR”

TERMANOLOGY’S DEBUT "POLITICS AS USUAL" IN STORES TODAY

September 30th, 2008
New York, NY – Massachusetts-bred; New York-based rapper Termanology’s debut LP, Politics As Usual, is in stores today (9-30-08).  One of this year’s most anticipated albums; Politics As Usual is a joint venture between Term’s own ST. Records and Indy powerhouse Nature Sounds.  Termanology’s debut merges the best of both worlds for all Hip-Hop fans, as its meshes classic boom-bap production from a virtual who’s who list of production royalty; DJ Premier, Hi-Tek, Pete Rock, The Alchemist, Havoc, Buckwild, Nottz and Large Professor all provide tracks and it also includes guest appearances from Prodigy, Sheek Louch, Freeway, Lil Fame and UGK’s Bun B who guests on the LP’s DJ Premier produced lead-single "How We Rock."

At the onset of 2006, Term caught his big break when legendary producer DJ Premier, whom he met three years earlier, finally blessed him with one of his signature, scratch-laden beats. "Watch How It Go Down" instantly became an underground classic and Termanology appeared on Hip-Hop’s international radar. The conscious hood anthem garnered the earnest MC tons of praise, landing him in The Source’s "Unsigned Hype" and XXL’s "Show and Prove" columns.

Since then, Termanology has quickly climbed the industry ranks with his Hood Politics mixtape series and his debut, Politics As Usual, has a huge buzz on the Internet and has also been included in Source, XXL, XLR8R, Remix and Spin Magazine’s (Look for Term in the Dec 2008 issue of Spin Magazine where he will be featured as a "Break Out" artist).

The opportunity to join two legends like Method Man and Redman on their "Still High" tour is very gratifying for Term as he laments "I’ve been listening to Method Man and Redman my whole life and it’s an honor to tour with them.  I look forward to tearing it down for the fans."

JUS BLEEZY GO HARD OR GO HOME PROMO TOUR – COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU

Hot out of St. Louis, and already a long-established staple in the streets of the Midwest, with a host of successful mixtapes, tours and radio singles under his belt, Just Black aka Jus Bleezy is poised to give fans a precursory taste of his own brand of Midwestern magic with the October 21st release of Go Hard or Go Home, hosted by the legendary DJ Khaled. Also featuring long-time friends Rick Ross, Murphy Lee and Fat Joe, this compelling 16-track mixtape is sure to whet the appetite of any fan of that street music that no one delivers quite like Jus Bleezy.

Growing up on some of the meanest streets of St. Louis, Jus Bleezy quickly became intimately familiar with their codes of violence. During those years, he often found himself on street corners, spitting volcanic tales of those codes and their consequences, until his distinctive, blatant-hustler style and gritty flow had made him a household name in the underground music scene of his hometown. It was these same codes that eventually landed Bleezy lying bullet-riddled on a sidewalk, with a chalk outline drawn around his body by detectives, presumed dead.

Jus Bleezy survived however and decided to redirect his hustle to the music industry, forming the Black on Black/Quit Playin’ Entertainment (BOBQP) independent label he now runs with his colleague Guccio. Bleezy’s first radio single as a solo artist, Women Ain’t All Bad, enjoyed prominent rotation at Urban and Rhythmic formats for several months, bringing his hustle to the attention of the majors. This and the sales of his many mixtapes caused Universal Records to seek him out and offer him a joint venture deal for his JBE (Jus Bleezy Entertainment) offshoot label via Universal/Fontana. His major label debut will be in stores in early 2009.

More recently, Bleezy’s Drumma Boy-produced song, I’m Coming For Ya, caught the attention of the producers at MTV’s new reality show, From G’s to Gents and it recently made its network television debut there. A music video to his lead single was also just shot and is currently in the editing stage.

October sees the beginning of Jus Bleezy’s multi-city promo tour and the dates are provided at the bottom of this email. He is available for all media opportunities in each city so please hit us up with your requests.

Below is a link to download Jus Bleezy’s first single, Bosses. We encourage you to post it on your websites, put it on your mixtapes and add it to rotation. If the success of his previous effort, Like Me ft. Trey Songz, is anything to go by, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Huge congratulations go out to DJ Fly from France who took the solo title on Saturday night, Kireek who blitzed the competition to take the Team Championship Title for a 2nd year and to UK entrant DJ Switch who took the Battle for World Supremacy competition by storm and emerged victorious on Friday night.

The final three placing DJs for the DMC World DJ Championship after the judges had deliberated all the performances from the DJs were:

1. DJ Fly (France)

UK entrant and regularly crowned UK Champion DJ Skully came 4th.

The Team Championship was once again an excellent and intricate display of interplay between numerous DJs working together to create a singular sound and set. Japanese entrant Kireek once again dominated after taking the title last year and spun together a set worthy of the top spot scooping the title, $10,000 courtesy of Ortofon and £1000 worth of Drunknmunky clothing to split between them (along with each of their DMC Gold Disc Awards, ckIN2U goody bags and top of the line RANE TTM57 Mixers!)

‘UK STUNNERS’ PREPARE TO UNVEIL 2009 CALENDAR AND LAUNCH OF KAYA FOUNDATION AT EXCLUSIVE CELEBRITY EVENT IN LONDON

UK Stunners To Showcase 2009 Calendar At Exclusive Launch Event

London, UK (September 30, 2008) – The UK Stunners will be revealing their hottest calendar to-date at an exclusive launch event at London hotspot and celebrity favourite Studio Valbonne, London, on Sunday October 5th 2008. Bringing together the UK’s hottest models and celebrities, past and present ‘UK Stunners’ will take part in a fashion show that will exhibit upcoming UK designers. The event will also introduce the ‘Kaya Foundation’ -a foundation set up in memory of UK Stunners Founder Kaya Bousquet- who sadly passed away earlier this year after being involved in a tragic car accident. The Kaya Foundation will aim to provide much needed help to some of the UK’s most disadvantaged young people. The event will also include a live auction, a performance by UK rapper Sway, and surprise celebrity guests.

"It’s heartbreaking that I have put the calendar together without Kaya this year, but I feel she would want me to continue what she started- showing the world that the best looking females are not necessarily the ones we see in US music videos, TV shows or movies- we have just as attractive ladies right here in the UK" says Sequoia Bousquet, Kaya’s sister and Director of UK Stunners. "Since 2007 Kaya worked hard to make sure she chose the right girls for the calendar, not purely based on their physical attributes but also for their ability to show that they have the brains to match the beauty."

Joining The UK Stunners for this unprecedented event will be Solomon Kalou and his Chelsea FC teammates, Daniel Bedingfield, rappers Sway and Dizzee Rascal, actor Asher D, Tim Westwood, Calum Best and Ashley Cole as well as other well known stars from the entertainment world.  Sponsors include Sleek make-up, Solomon Kalou of Chelsea FC, Mega Hair Brazil and Punky Fish.

About UK Stunners

UK Stunners was established in 2007 by model and actress Kaya Bousquet. After years of starring in numerous videos for the biggest selling artists including Young Jeezy, R. Kelly, The Game, 50 Cent and Dizzee Rascal, Kaya decided she wanted to get into something more challenging. Bousquet saw the calendar as a platform to showcase the UK’s most stunning females who were often cast aside and overlooked when auditioning for movies, videos and TV shows. Our company has committed to bringing in a record 50,000 people to be registered to vote from around the country and I wanted to step up and get my morning show listeners that are not registered, to get involved and do so. I will broadcast around the clock until I get 5,000 unregistered voters registered and ready to do their part on November 4th."

Station Program Director, Terri Thomas tells us, "Madd Hatta is going above and beyond by pledging to get 5,000 people to register. He is definitely championing Radio One’s cause for the station and is committed to staying at Sharpstown for as long as is necessary."

Local media is encouraged to cover this event to help spread the word on the location of this monumental voting drive.
