Brave New World to Present Tony B.’s Hip Hop Revue at Seattle’s Hempfest!
Every August Seattle is home to the largest hemp festival in the world, with a record 150,000 attendees last year. A world-wide attraction, similar numbers are expected this year as the event draws people from all over to receive political information, eat a wide array of food and of course listen to music. This summer over 60 artists and bands are to play five separate stages over the weekend of August 16th and 17th at Myrtle Edwards Park.
A popular festival for rock, folk and reggae artists, 2008 marks the first time Seattle’s Hempfest will feature Hip Hop music. For the first time Tony B., President of MUSICA Entertainment and host of KUBE 93.3 FM’s "Street Beat," will showcase his annual hip hop revue featuring local and national hip hop artists at this event. In appreciation of the festival’s musical evolution Brave New World is excited to sponsor Tony B.’s Hip Hop Revue and Shyan Selah will perform songs from his upcoming album, Brave New World, as he opens for headliners Bone Thugs N Harmony on the main stage on Sunday.
Brave New World, a mixture of hip hop, funk, rock and soul music, will be released September 2nd through Brave New World Records and High Powered/KOCH Entertainment.
Hempfest picTony B’s Hip Hop Revue showcases the diverse elements of Hip Hop and the impact the genre has on social issues and all forms of music. Shyan Selah recently sat down for an interview with Hempfest Executive Director, Vivian Peak, and Tony B. on "Street Beat" to discuss Hip Hop as a social movement and a voice for change.

Despite the Hempfest’s "stoner" subject matter, this year’s theme, "Industrial Hemp and What it Can do for America" is more about educating the public as to how the hemp plant can economically benefit the country in its current state of high gas prices and the global-wide shortages of food. As it does every year, Hempfest is reaching out to a wider audience by demonstrating how the hemp plant can change everyday life.
The festival runs from 10am to 8pm both Saturday and Sunday and is free.
