(ATLANTA – July 31, 2008) Something special is happening in Atlanta, Ga. this fall. The city will host one of the most unique breakdance competitions of all time, All-Targets-Leveled (A.T.L). On October 25, 2008 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., hundreds of breakdancers from all over the world will converge to compete individually for $1,000 in cash.
Competitors will battle in a traditional, single elimination bracket format but in an atypical setting. The custom-created arena will include street-themed objects such as a car and a park bench that competitors need to utilize to win. Participants are therefore challenged not only in physical skill and endurance, but in improvisation, creativity and technicality. A.T.L will be judged by three breakdance pioneers from various regions of the country. With no advance knowledge of the competition setting, the playing field is even for competitors and to ensure they win, competitors will need to leave no doubt in judges' minds that they are the superior dancer, hence all targets leveled.
A.T.L will be held at the 10,000-square-foot Ambient + Studio, located between the Atlanta neighborhoods of Castleberry Hill and Mechanicsville. Not excluding the other three hip-hop elements, the venue walls will feature Atlanta-themed artwork and music/entertainment from some of the Southeast's best DJs, emcees and a live band. A.T.L is a family-friendly, all ages event, showcasing hip-hop's ability to bring people of all backgrounds together to communicate in a positive and meaningful way.
A.T.L is brought to you by Atlanta's finest breakdance crew, Burn Unit. Helping bring this unique event to life is longtime partner, Red Bull. An avid supporter of the breakdance community internationally, Red Bull has worked with Burn Unit for more than five years to present cutting-edge and influential events to the worlds of Atlanta breakdancing and hip-hop, such as Red Bull BC One's Four Corners and the Dollar Jam series.
