KRS ONE SPEAKS ABOUT MILLION DJ MARCH – BECOMES A MAJOR FIGURE

Washington, D.C. – Rap legend and Hip Hop activist KRS One is issuing a call to action from DJ’s nationwide to join and participate in the upcoming Million DJ March, by becoming directly involved himself. KRS One’s legendary contributions to the evolution of Hip Hop and well-documented work with his Stop the Violence Movement, coupled with the fact that he began his own career as a DJ make him the perfect spokesperson for this groundbreaking event.

"I am a DJ. I started my career as a DJ and a collector of records." says the NY emcee. "The Million DJ March speaks to the longevity of the DJ community. If deejaying is going to survive in to the future, we are going to have to take it a little more seriously than just a party past time."

Founded by A. Shaw, after her many years of working within the DJ and mixtape community, The Million DJ March, far from disrespecting or parodying the Million Man March and its mission, was started in an effort to bring the DJ community worldwide together on issues that effect not just the DJ’s themselves, but the music listening public they entertain.

KRS One expands by saying, "Once and for all, the American public needs to hear from the DJ’s in a unified voice. There are questions that the American public has for for the DJ and one of the concerns of the American public, for DJ’s in every medium, is the lack of responsibility that DJ’s show to younger ears. The DJ’s I know care about the public they play for; many of them are responsible parents themsleves. It is not that DJ’s are irresponsible, it is that DJ’s do not speak in one unified voice on anything. By signing your name to this event, among other things, you vow to uphold a standard of excellence in the art of deejaying."

In addition to unity, the mission of the Million DJ March is education and inspiration. "The Million DJ March is a call to excellence in the deejaying industry." KRS One says. "This is your craft. This is an opportunity to participate in the further development of your craft. The uniqueness of The Million DJ March and its surrounding workshops provides an opportunity for those just getting started, as well as the seasoned veterans, to participate in the advancement of deejaying."

A. Shaw, who also recently added the well-respected Harlem advocate DJ S&S as a keynote speaker to the March and Grammy-winning DJ Dirty Harry (Alicia Keys "No One") as a performer, couldn’t be happier with her new spokesperson. "I have been aware and informed about KRS One’s Stop the Violence Movement, and I think it is an extremely positive one." she shares. "KRS is a voice that rings through cultural and entertainment barriers. We are ecstatic to have him on board."

Revolutionary Hip-Hop Icon Paris Preps New Album

July 31, 2008

San Francisco, CA – Bay Area rapper/activist Paris is preparing to release his latest album, Acid Reflex, on September 9th on his own Guerrilla Funk Recordings and Filmworks, LLC, distributed by Fontana/Universal. The rapper’s first single, "Don’t Stop the Movement," features newcomer T-K.A.S.H. and will be released early August.

The album comes just in time for election year and contains commentary on a wide range of topics including black-on-black crime and violence, the ongoing problem of police brutality, war, politics and what Paris calls "the need for more of an equal balance between positive and negative influences in entertainment." Acid Reflex is the latest installment of cutting-edge funk-and-rock-inspired hip-hop in a career spanning the sale of over 3.8 million units independently worldwide. It features performances by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and Parliament/Funkadelic frontman George "Dr. Funkenstein" Clinton, Public Enemy leader Chuck D and Paris-protégé T-K.A.S.H..

"There’s no time like the present to speak out on issues and use the most popular form of musical entertainment to motivate and inform," says Paris, a seasoned multi-instrumentalist who also serves as the album’s producer. "That’s why I decided to call the album Acid Reflex – it’s an aggressive response to what I see going on. There are a lot of people out there who feel like mainstream music doesn’t truly reflect their concerns or how they feel. Our art form is being kept artificially young and artificially dumb. Listeners of all ages are noticing that there’s more to what we do than what’s given us on the radio and on t.v."

In other news, Paris has expanded his Guerrilla Funk brand to include a film division, with projects slated for release with featured contributions from multi-platinum Grammy™ award winner Common, multi-platinum Grammy™ award winner André 3000, multi-platinum Grammy™ award winners The Dixie Chicks, Talib Kweli, Public Enemy, George Clinton, The Coup, NOFX, Michael Franti, Anti-Flag and Tom Morello, among others.

Slum Village’s eLZhi Teams Up with Black Milk For First Solo Album

07.31.2008

The Preface Boasts All-Star Detroit Cast

(July 30, 2008- Brooklyn, NY) – eLZhi, esteemed member of Slum Village, will be releasing his solo debut, The Preface, on August 12, 2008 through Fat Beats Records. The 16-track album, produced almost entirely by rising star Black Milk, features guest appearances by a who’s who of the Detroit hip-hop scene. Royce Da 5’9", T3 (Slum Village), Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, and more add to what many have predicted will be one of the most noteworthy hip-hop releases of 2008.

With The Preface, eLZhi displays the unpredictable flows and rhyme schemes he is known for and also touches on an impressive variety of concepts and subject matter. He demands perfection in his tracks and the attention to detail shows in the expert production of Black Milk. Having worked with countless hip-hop talents like Phat Kat, Frank-N-Dank, Lloyd Banks, Canibus, Pharoahe Monch, T3, and J Dilla, Black Milk tidies up the tracks with his signature air-tight beats and samples.

In the late-nineties, eLZhi made a name for himself by moving his way up through the ranks of Detroit’s underground scene and teaming up with Slum Village for his first big taste of success. He has since been making the rounds, working with local Detroit luminaries such as J Dilla, Waajeed of Platinum Pied Pipers, and Dwele, in addition to a well-received solo tour of Europe during his early years in the game. Hip-hop enthusiasts across the globe consider eLZhi to be one of the most skilled emcees in the entire scene, and bloggers and critics have been trumpeting this sentiment since the release of the last Slum Village album in 2005. With the release of The Preface, eLZhi looks to cement his name amongst the greatest emcees in the game.

Diary Of A Mad Dog Hits Stores September 30th, 2008

LOS ANGELES, CA…Sen Dog (aka Senen Reyes), the notorious co-frontman of hip-hop legends Cypress Hill, has debuted the track "Capo" from his forthcoming solo album Diary of a Mad Dog online at www.myspace.com/sendog. The album will hit the streets on September 30, 2008 through Suburban Noize Records and marks the first solo album from one of hip-hop’s most influential artists.

Sen Dog’s bark is louder than ever on his debut. Taking matters of money, faith and family to the music, Sen Dog sets out to unleash personal dramas in a no-holds-barred symposium of introspection and a narrative insight into his life.  Diary of A Mad Dog is a cathartic release for the rabid emcee, but totally accessible to a ravenous audience eager for a solid Sen Dog assault.  A few of the Cali pals found on Diary of a Mad Dog include Tangled Thoughts, DJ Ace, and even his Cypress Hill partner B-Real joins in on the attack.

"I’ve done the whole dark, morbid thing and the whole rock n’ roll crossover thing. I’m not going to have an agenda on this; I’m going to jam and record whatever is fun to me," says Sen Dog about his first ever solo offering. "With Cypress Hill I’m working with B-Real and DJ Muggs, but with my solo material it’s a bit more of a challenge and more rewarding for me as a songwriter when I come up with tracks and they sound banging" he adds.

Sen Dog has been a pioneer in the world of hip-hop, as one of the he and his Cypress Hill brethren were the first Latino hip-hop superstars and instrumental in helping to break down the door for Latin hip-hop. Sen Dog enjoyed #1 albums on the Billboard Charts (Black Sunday), Top 10 singles ("How Could I Just Kill a Man", "Insane In The Brain" and "Rock Superstar") and countless platinum and gold plaques with over 17 million albums sold worldwide. After nearly two decades in the game, Sen Dog has consistently been an innovator in the hip-hop world. From breaking down the door for Latin hip-hop to helping shape the whole West Coast urban/hip hop sound.

Be on the lookout for Sen Dog on the Strange Noize tour with Kottonmouth Kings, Tech N9ne, (Hed)p.e, and X-Clan through  August 2008! Visit www.suburbannoizerecords.com for tour and special VIP packages.

HIP HOP’S RISING STAR, TERMANOLOGY, READIES DEBUT ALBUM

BOASTING A DREAM TEAM CAST OF PLATINUM PRODUCERS INCLUDING DJ PREMIER, ALCHEMIST, HAVOC, NOTTZ, BUCKWILD, LARGE PROFESSOR, PETE ROCK, HI-TEK, EASY MO BEE AND GUEST APPEARANCES FROM PRODIGY, BUN B, SHEEK LOUCH, FREEWAY, LIL FAME,

"POLITICS AS USUAL" WILL BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 30th, 2008 ST RECORDS/NATURE SOUND RECORDS

July 31st, 2008

What the industry is saying about Termanology:

"Term has a unique desire for the culture because he touches the issues that I can relate to as a TRUE HIP-HOP HEAD..his flows are nice, and he stays creative with his subject matter…he even speaks for me and not every new MC comin’ up can do that." – DJ Premier

"Termanology puts the MC back in MC’ing, he’s a breath of fresh air in this dirty game." – Bun B

"Termanology shows he could be a leader of the new school" – The Source Magazine

New York, NY -  Massachusetts -bred; New York-based rapper Termanology has now finished his official debut album Politics As Usual. One of this year’s most anticipated albums; it drops September 30th, 2008 through a joint venture between Term’s own ST. Records and Indy powerhouse Nature Sounds. Termanology’s debut merges the best of both worlds for all Hip-Hop fans, as its meshes classic boom-bap production from a virtual who’s who list of production royalty; DJ Premier, Hi-Tek, Pete Rock, The Alchemist, Havoc, Buckwild, Nottz and Large Professor all provide tracks, with Term’s lyricism, swagger and bravado.

Growing up in the streets of the post-industrial, predominantly Latino city of Lawrence , MA, the half-white, half-Puerto Rican MC transitioned from silly freestyles at age nine to full-fledged records by 15. Constantly traveling between Boston and New York to pursue his music business dream, Termanology released his first 12-inch in 2002. Through his alliance with influential mixtape DJ (and fellow Massachusetts native) Statik Selektah, Term began earning the respect of Boston ‘s Hip-Hop scene with several highly acclaimed 12" singles.

At the onset of 2006, Term caught his big break when legendary producer DJ Premier, whom he met three years earlier, finally blessed him with one of his signature, scratch-laden beats. "Watch How It Go Down" instantly became an underground classic and Termanology appeared on Hip-Hop’s international radar. The conscious hood anthem garnered the earnest MC tons of praise, landing him in The Source’s "Unsigned Hype" and XXL’s "Show and Prove" columns.

Since then, Termanology has quickly climbed the industry ranks with his Hood Politics mixtape series and continued collaborations with DJ Premier and other big name producers. Term’s hard work resulted in a joint venture deal with Brooklyn-based label Nature Sounds, which he signed in late 2007. "I decided to go the Indy route to have total control of everything related to my project," Term explains.

Nature Sounds is quickly becoming the indy home for classic hip-hop.  During the last couple of years the label has released projects by several artists that include hip hop cult icon MF DOOM, Wu-Tang’s Masta Killa (Made In Brooklyn), the debut album from Havoc of Mobb Deep (The Kush), most recently, Pete Rock’s latest (NY’s Finest).

Term has already set things in motion for his debut, Politics As Usual, with the recent leak of the LP’s buzz-single, How We Rock," which has the Internet buzzing and features Term rocking with two of Hip-Hop’s most beloved individuals, Bun B and DJ Premier (who produced "How We Rock").  Term has also shot a video for "How We Rock" and the video will be released to the masses shortly.

Termanology is available for all interview requests!!

HIP-HOP HEAVYWEIGHT DJ GREEN LANTERN PAYS HOMAGE TO ARTIST CHRISTINA K FOR CONCEPT BEHIND NAS’ “BLACK PRESIDENT” IN SEPTEMBER ISSUE OF XXL MAGAZINE

Emerging artist lends a creative hand in tribute to America’s first black presidential candidate featured on legendary rapper’s critically acclaimed chart-topping album

NEW YORK- DJ Green Lantern shares the spotlight with emerging artist Christina K in the September issue of XXL Magazine. "We were on the phone, and she was like, "Yo, I got an idea. I want to use this ‘Pac sample," says Lantern, when discussing how Nas’ prolific record "Black President" was conceived. Originally recorded by Christina K for the Russell Simmons and DJ Green Lantern collaboration "Yes We Can" mixtape, Nas heard the track, and insisted that he wanted the song for his "Untitled" album. "So I let him rock it by himself," says Lantern. The remix, which will feature Christina K, will be showcased on the yet to be released dedication to Obama.

"When Green and I discussed me doing a song for the Obama mixtape, it instantly hit me! How dope would it be to sample the part where Pac says, "although it seems heaven sent- we ain’t ready to have a black president." So I sent him the acapella to "I Wonder if Heaven Got a Ghetto," and immediately started writing. I grew up listening to 2Pac and Nas, and they both top the list of my all-time favorite hip-hop artists. It’s flattering to know that an idea that I had for a mixtape song would grow to be something so much bigger," says Christina. Originally from Maryland, Christina now resides in Harlem, and has been working hard to make a name for herself as an artist and producer. Boasting both production and writing skills, her unique style seamlessly blends pop and hip-hop genres.

At present, Christina has secured a production agreement with MTV Networks, produced tracks for Jive recording artist, Dolla, as well as produced two singles for herself. Both of her self-produced singles have received nationwide airplay on Top 40 and Rhythmic radio. Her latest single "Tonight," which was inspired by Modjo’s 2001 dance hit "Lady," is currently receiving great feedback, with a video soon to follow. Christina’s steadily growing buzz continues to flourish with features in some of today’s most relevant online and print publications including YRB, URB, Black Beat, Scheme, and Clutch Magazines, including others.

Pitchfork Premieres Amplive’s Tokyo Police Club Remix Featuring Aesop Rock

MP3:
Tokyo Police Club [ft. Aesop Rock, Yak Ballz] – The Baskervilles (Amplive Remix)
http://onesevensevensix.com/ thebaskervilles_ampliveremix. mp3

Surely Tokyo Police Club’s "The Baskervilles", the final toast from the Canadian foursome’s underrated Elephant Shell, wasn’t the most obvious candidate for a remix, but in this case that’s actually made for results more interesting than the latest facelessly fist-pumping blog-house do-over. Amplive, last seen causing Radiohead to act like just another self-important rock band, turns the anthemic indie rock of "The Baskervilles" into fiery, rock-fueled hip-hop. – Pitchfork

Read The Full Review:
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/ article/download/142602- premiere-tokyo-police-club-ft- aesop-rock-and-yak-ballz-the- baskervilles-amplive-remix- mp3-stream

Since causing a stir with his early 2008 Radiohead remix album, Amplive has been in high demand on the remix circuit. Last month, Tokyo Police Club asked the Bay Area DJ for his take on "The Baskervilles," the final track from their recently-released Elephant Shell. So Amp pulled a few friends — Aesop Rock, Yak Balls — into the studio and the result, as Pitchfork said yesterday, "turns the anthemic indie rock of ‘The Baskervilles’ into fiery, rock-fueled hip-hop."

What’s more, Amplive documented pieces of the process with an informative video (http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=L0YrX5_2ZSE) he recently uploaded to YouTube.

Amplive is currently hard at work on even more remixes — for Jamie Lidell, Tapes N Tapes, Port O’Brien, and more — due this Fall. And, of course, the latest Zion I album, The Takeover, is just on the horizon, while a 2009 solo album from Amplive and a few of his new-found friends (Thom, holla at me, man!?) is also in the works.
