Featuring Special Guests JUST BLAZE, 9TH WONDER, DJ NU-MARK AND DJ REVOLUTION *
April 09, 2008
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Guitar Center is pleased to announce the next installment in its Guitar Center Sessions series: An evening of dialogue and insight with Pete Rock, featuring special guests Just Blaze, 9th Wonder, DJ Nu-Mark and DJ Revolution, on Sunday, April 20 at the Guitar Center in Hollywood, CA.
It's no small event to bring such highly acclaimed producers together in one room for the next GC Session. Long known for blending obscure jazz and funk samples and hard-hitting beats, Pete Rock has worked with Nas, Jeru the Damaja and Run-DMC as well as releasing multiple solo and collaborative albums. Grammy-nominated producer Just Blaze has worked with hip hop heavy hitters ranging from Jay-Z and The Game to The Beastie Boys, Usher, Kanye West, Snoop and many more. And Grammy-winning 9th Wonder, in addition to producing Jay-Z, Destiny's Child and Mary J. Blige, is also a professor at North Carolina Central University, where he teaches about hip-hop culture. Rounding out the bill are long-time West Coast hip-hop heroes DJ Nu-Mark (Jurassic 5) and DJ Revolution, best known as the man behind "The Wake Up Show" (with Sway and King Tech), an internationally syndicated hip hop mix show based out of Power 106 in Los Angeles.
Designed to provide informative, provocative conversation and hands-on tutorials, GC Sessions serves as an incubator for musicians, providing them an opportunity to network with their peers and gain insight from their heroes in an intimate setting. The evening will be conversational, with the artists offering production tips and business advice, as well as discussing digital marketing, distribution and innovative use of technology – all from the perspective of working largely outside the traditional record label system.
In addition to the event itself, Guitar Center in partnership with Akai and Cornerstone Promotions, is offering 5 lucky artists a chance to participate in a private tutorial session with Pete Rock prior to the event. Winners will gain hands-on experience using the Akai MPC25000, and Guitar Center will video tape these sessions for http://gc.guitarcenter.com/events/, where they will live as an online tutorial.
Please join us for this special evening, which is free and open to the public!
