(Atlanta, Georgia) (February 14, 2008)- Don "Moose" Lewis, Managing Member of America's African Idol, LLC, proudly announces the launch of the reality television show, "America's African Idol" to begin airing in June 2008. Auditions for talent will begin in May 2008 beginning in New York City, New York and continuing in fifteen (15) additional cities across the United States. Pre-registration begins immediately
States Mr. Lewis, "After reviewing reality shows being broadcast on television, I saw African-American talent and the ethnic music genre not only being neglected but also somewhat mistreated. African-American music has three (3) distinct categories-Hip-Hop, Gospel, and Rhythm & Blues and what we feel is a 4th category-that of "Mix Tape" from DJ's and Producers. I feel that not giving each of these groups their own competition puts potential recording artists at an unfair advantage in seeking to further their careers-thus, the launching of "America's African Idol" to fill this void! I am looking forward to seeing the multitudes of unfound talent being showcased on a fair and equitable basis."
In additional to the four (4) categories, there will also be a "Youth Division" for talent ages eight (8) years to fifteen (15) years in order for them to compete against their peers.
All winners in each city, region, and finals receive cash prizes with the ultimate "America's African Idol" receiving not only a cash prize of $5000.00 and a record recording contract, but also an expense paid all inclusive 10 day trip for two (2) to Africa.
Persons wishing to work with the show as Community Talent Directors or as Celebrity Judges are urged to contact us immediately.
