It’s rare that a rapper gets a DJ the caliber of Terror Squad’s DJ Khaled to host his mixtape. It’s even more rare for it to happen right out of the gate. But Mush Millions is not your average rapper, and he’s not just making mixtapes."We’re Making Movies!" as Khaled says on Mush Millions’ debut mixtape, the appropriately titled Tha Movie.
The mixtape serves as an introduction for Mush Millions, a rapper/producer who grew up just 2 doors down from Chicago legend Twista. There must be something in the K-Town water, because Mush follows in Twista’s tradition of making commercially viable music that is made with the streets in mind.
Life on the streets is on full display through Mush’s mixtape. Rather than a piece of pure fiction, Tha Movie feels like a documentary as Mush narrates cinematic tales of everyday life in the struggle with no apprehension, and no regrets.
While rappers across the board fight to be considered "Hip Hop," Mush is not too concerned with labels, and doesn’t worry about how he’s categorized as long as people are listening. "To be honest, whether or not I’m recognized as a Hip Hop artist is not the most important thing to me," he says.
"Realistically, I never had turntables to scratch, never got into graffiti, but I fell in love with rapping and producing music. I was inspired by, and now create, the music that is more geared toward people in the struggle, that sheds light on what is going on in ghettoes across the country. I don’t care about labels. I care about music."
Review copies of Tha Movie are currently available, and Mush is accepting interview requests. Please contact Alex@BanditProductions.com to receive a copy of the mixtape or set up a feature.
