Touchstone Pictures new movie, 'Step Up 2: The Streets' features urban streetwear from Love Understands All Music (L.U.A.M.) by Wildchild Nation.
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - February 14, 2008) - Wildchild Nation contributes their streetwear line, Love Understands All Music, to the costume design team of "Step Up 2: The Streets" to provide street dance style, culture, and fashion. Touchstone Pictures' "Step Up 2," the sequel to 2006 smash hit "Step Up," opens in theaters today, February 14, 2008. With a cast boasting the best dancers in the country and all-star choreographers Jamal Sims, Hi-Hat, and Dave Scott, the movie showcases street dance culture at its most vibrant. The L.U.A.M. line with its fresh, colorful array of streetwear was introduced to costume director, Luca Mosca, who immediately requested the line, saying: "street cool, fashion colors and striking styles converge in 'Love Understands All Music,' a vibrant, fresh and hip collection."
L.U.A.M., or Love Understands All Music, by Wildchild Nation uses music as their vision for a colorful assortment of hoodies, tees, tanks, and sweatpants. Hip Hop culture provides the context for the collection, while dance culture is the environment. Co-founder and noted choreographer, Luam, states: "'Step Up 2' is a great way to showcase not only our designs, but also the vision it was born from." Business partner and co-founder Traci Copeland agrees, "Everyone loves music. It sets the tone for much of what we do, and our designs are a reflection of that. Music can be colorful, vibrant, and thought-provoking. This movie is a great platform to showcase that."
The L.U.A.M. line found in "Step Up 2: The Streets" an easy fit with a story line that highlights young dancers and their struggle with credibility in the street dance community. The movie follows a young, fiery street dancer as she competes in "The Streets," a no-holds-barred dance battleground. With director Jon Chu, and the production team behind "Step Up," "Step Up 2: The Streets" proves to be a high impact ride down hip hop street dance culture and fashion.
