The National Youth Football League, founded by Luther Campbell, is intended to provide a positive environment for underprivileged boys and girls across the nation to participate in football and cheerleading. The Battle of the Stars will feature various celebrity coaches including football stars Warren Sapp, Edgerrin James, and Chad Johnson, plus rappers Fat Joe, Rick Ross and Trick Daddy. The competition will involve 16 youth football all-star teams vying for the title of Best Youth Football Team in America.
The event will draw a number of celebrity supporters, who in the past have included Diddy, Nelly, Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe, Ja Rule, Irv Gotti, Vin Diesel, Sammy Sosa, and many more. The National Youth Football League kicked off its inaugural season in August of 2006 in Miami, Florida. Founded by Luther Campbell, the league is intended to provide a positive environment for underprivileged boys and girls across the nation to participate in football and cheerleading. The league provides funding to its participating members to allow for the improvement of fields, facilities, computers, and equipment. The Orange Bowl Committee has proved to be a valuable partner to the NYFL in its inaugural year, providing over $100,000 in funding for the league.
