The Benefit for Jena 6 at Lehman College will be from 6PM – 9PM at Lovinger Theater.

Many hip hop and rap artists have spoken out in defense of the Jena 6. Immortal Technique says "This is a benefit show with ALL proceeds going towards the legal defense fund for the Jena 6. It is important to rally and March but it is equally, if not more important, to speak by enforcing the necessary channels for legal action.

Sucio Smash, founder of High Water Music, is the protégé of legendary Bobbito Garcia, and co-host of WKCR's renowned underground hip-hop FM radio show, Squeeze Radio (Fridays 1am-5am EST). With his label, Sucio is looking to develop artists for the future, rather than follow the norm of looking to the past for musical saviors. Hangar 18 are Tim "Alaska" Baker and Ian "Windnbreeze" McMullin, two MCs who have been honing their skills on the mic for over a decade, along with 'DJ paWL'. Coming up in the New York City scene, Alaska and Wind were mainstays of the "All That' monthly open mic event that was hosted by legendary NYC radio personality Bobbito Garcia at the Nuyorican Poets Café. The group quickly became part of the Atoms Family, which consisted of Cannibal Ox, Cryptic One and Jest One Art and had a slew of releases through the late-nineties and into the 2000s. In 2004 the trio dropped their critically acclaimed debut album The Multi-Platinum Debut Album on Definitive Jux Records. The album received critical acclaim from both Spin and Playboy and led to the recording of the theme song for the VH1 show 'Hip Hop Babylon'.

Now the group is readying for the release of their sophomore album, Sweep the Leg, which hits stores on October 23rd. The Hangar, as their fans affectionately call them, spent the lion's share of the past three years on the road performing as many as 200 shows a year and sharing the stage with such artists as RJD2, One Be Lo, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Big Daddy Kane, Cobra Starship, Madina Lake, Zion I, Grouch, and Murs. Earlier this year they completed a U.S. and UK tour with Gym Class Heroes and most recently were main support on El-P's U.S. tour.

Sweep the Leg finds the group paying homage to a certain phrase from Karate Kid. In fact, the group went through rigorous training of their own to prepare for the album. And all that hard work has paid off. MC Alaska was chosen to speak next to hip hop legend KRS One for the College Music Journal's State of Hip Hop Address on Friday, October 19th at New York's Kimmel Center: Eisner and Lubin Auditorium (3:45-5:15 PM). Later that night they'll be sharing the stage with the rest of the Def Jux fam (and maybe some surprise guests?!) in at Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg. And on Monday, October 22nd the group will kick off an album release party at New York's Angels and Kings bar at 500 E. 11th street. The party kicks off at 8:30 PM when fans will be able to listen to the entire album the night before it hits stores. Hangar 18 will take the stage at 9:30 for a vicious bout of karaoke.

Group Protests MTV & BET Images and Messages Outside Home of Viacom CEO

Nettleton, MS - - On October 30th, 2007 Memphis pioneer, Indo G, will release his highly anticipated album, "Purple Drank."

As a former member, of the original Prophet Posse, Indo played a major role in helping build the music scene in Memphis, by bringing national exposure to the city. In the mid 90s, he hooked up with fellow Memphis rapper, Lil' Blunt and under the guidance of Luther "Luke Skywalker" Campbell, the duo released their project, "Up In Smoke."  After a short lived deal with Luke Records, Indo returned to Memphis and signed with childhood friend, DJ Paul's (of Three 6 Mafia) upstart label, Hypnotized Minds.

In 1998, soon after signing with the label, Indo released his debut solo effort, "Angel Dust" on Hypnotized Minds with Relativity Records serving as the imprint's national distributor. "Remember Me Ballin," was the lead single featuring a guest appearance with former labelmate, Gangsta Boo. Lethal Bizzle, one of the UK's most notorious and popular rap stars is set to headline Dublin's renowned Rap Ireland Bank Holiday Party this October 28 th at Radio City. The World Famous Mic Club & BMI Atlanta's presentation of Mannie Fresh with Dead Prez is the third installment of The Behind the Boards series, a recurring event that has captivated audiences since its June 2007 debut. Known as the place where hip-hop meets Inside the Actors Studio, Mic Club's Behind the Boards Series hosts Q&A sessions with monumental hip-hop producers as they openly discuss their music, lifestyle and more. AFRICAN-AMERICAN PHOTOJOURNALIST BEATEN BY TORONTO POLICE; FIGHTING TO HAVE CHARGES DROPPED; TRIAL SET FOR NOV. 21, 2007

TORONTO, CANADA...October 16, 2006, at approximately 1:40 pm after checking out of the Econolodge Hotel (335 Jarvis Street) and while in the process of hailing a taxi, Black Americans Tonye Allen and his fiancee, Ann Brown, were assaulted by several Downtown Toronto policemen from the 51st division. Mr. Allen, who did not resist, was beaten and pepper sprayed several times while handcuffed and in police custody. Ms. Brown was choked, shoved, and threatened with arrest as well.

Mr. Allen was never told why he was being detained. The arresting police refused to tell Ms. Brown where they were taking Mr. Allen.  After locating the correct police station, Ms. Brown spoke with a "Det. Moyer," who said he "hadn't decided" what he was going to charge Mr. Allen with. Ultimately, Mr. Allen was charged with assault of two policemen and resisting arrest, times two.

After Ms. Brown posted cash bail of  $1,000, Mr. Allen's passport was taken by "Det. Moyer."

Mr. Allen was unarmed. He had never been arrested. He had no criminal history. He has no history of drug/alcohol abuse or psychiatric problems.

Mr. Allen and Ms. Brown are seeking publicity and legal references to help fight these false charges.

Mr. Allen is a photojournalist who works professionally under the name "TRILOBITE." His work has appeared in: Essence, Vibe, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone, LA Weekly , and The Source Magazine. He has worked for Sony Music, PolyGram Records, Def Jam Records, and Interscope Records, among others.

Ms. Brown is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in Essence, Black Enterprise, Upscale Magazine, The Source , and various other publications.

Mr. Allen and Ms. Brown were in Toronto on their way to South Africa.
