Animated stagnation to be released on september 18th, 2007

(PRLog.Org) – (July 12, 2007 ) Boston, MA

CommonWealth Records is proud to announce the eagerly-anticipated release of "Animated Stagnation", a new album from Rhode Island's own Ams Uno of ClokWorx which will hit the stores & internet on September 18, 2007 and will be distributed worldwide by independent hip-hop distribution powerhouse; Amalgam Entertainment and exclusively on-line at AmalgamDigital.com.

Speaking out against what he sees in hip-hop, politics & religion, Ams Uno steps forth as a self-proclaimed B-Boy & prophet of hip-hop, much as KRS-One had done several years before. Ams Uno, one third of the Woonsocket, Rhode Island hip-hop group ClokWorx and childhood friend of Sage Francis first appeared on the underground scene with their 1999 debut 12" release " Mental Flux b/w Time In This Career/World Of Truth" which earned them a spot on the 1999 Lyricist lounge tour, their 2001 sophomore 12"- " Preservative b/w Who's That/Robots" which was produced by D-Tension (Apathy, Akrobatik, Mr. Lif) and Celph Titled (Apathy, Demigodz), and the 2003 critically acclaimed full length release "Microchips" as well as his 2003 solo EP "Amsthrax".

Now with successful LP, EP & tw o12" singles under his belt, Ams Uno steps forth with his full length debut "Animated Stagnation (The Day Of Devotion)" which features the singles/videos "They Murk You" , "My Own Prison" & "Eighty Ate Emcees". Each track brings you into the two part mind of Ams Uno, one of raw B-boy, the other that of a lyrical perspective. "Animated Stagnation features production from, Ams Uno, DJ Orator aka The G.M.O, Missing Elements, The 6th Persona, Esh and guest appearances by Cas Uno, Missing Elements, Roman Rok, The G.M.O.& more.

"Animated Stagnation (The Day Of Devotion)" has been making a buzz for quite some time and is eagerly anticipated by his fan base and fans of the underground brand of RI hip-hop.

Ams Uno comments, "I put the last three years into this album and I have a lot to say and I decided to ride with CommonWealth Records again because I got a lot of shit to do and say, and I know CommonWealth won't hold me back or censor my music plus the entire company will push the CD to the maximum because they truly love and respect my music. I am very excited about the whole thing".

The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation Celebrates The Ninth Annual Presentation Of "SHOULDERS OF GIANTS"

At Rialto Center For The Arts In Atlanta On Saturday, August 4 at 7:00 PM

Atlanta, GA – The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation (TASF) proudly announces the Performing Arts Camp's ninth annual performance of the "Shoulders of Giants" at the Rialto Center for the Arts in Atlanta on Saturday, August 4 at 7.00 PM. Based on Tupac's (2Pac) work 'The Rose That Grew From Concrete', written when he was 19-years old, the event is a reflection of his enigmatic life, and embraces his spirit, energy and ultimate message of hope.

“Shoulders of Giants” is a musical revue of performances and readings by Pac’s Kids, students from the Tupac Amaru Shakur Performing Arts Center. In song and voice, Pac’s Kids celebrate the African American pioneers that paved the way in the arts, theatre and entertainment.  Directed by Celina Nixon, the center’s Creative Director, the show is a dazzling mix of era standards, poetry readings, dance works and original pieces created by the next generation of writers, actors, singers and dancers.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with students who are filled with extraordinary creative ability and dedication to produce another outstanding show,” said Nixon.  “Although some of the students have never performed before, they all have potential to become superstars. In retrospect of my own experiences as a Pac's Kid, I'm amazed at my achievements and am honored to be the Artistic Director of this production."

The TASF Performing Arts Camp is the brainchild of Tupac’s (2Pac) mother Ms. Afeni Shakur, who saw the impact performing arts had on her son and has made it her mission to give back some of that creativity and confidence to students through the TASF Performing Arts program.

Over 700 students have graduated from the TASF arts program which strives to enhance the many creative talents of its young students, between 12-18 years. Through various classes and activities, the youth experience life lessons while developing broad-ranging skills that have the potential to change their lives and the world around them.

Over the years Pac’s Kids have performed at venues as varied as The Source Awards, The Battle of The Marching Bands, Good Day Atlanta, the Georgia State Conference of NAACP Freedom Fun Gala and at various festivals and community events.

Advanced tickets for “Shoulders of Giants” are available at the Rialto Center for the Arts and at the TASF Visitor Center at 5616 Memorial Drive , Stone Mountain , GA. Admission is $20 with proceeds benefiting the continued development of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts.

Mark Batty Publisher Presents Los Angeles Graffiti. Expansive & Unique. Just like L.A.

Graffiti makes us think of cities. Urban denizens are used to seeing ink and paint scrawled and plastered on trains, buses and alleyways, and in heavily trafficked city centers, where structures of steel and glass tower. With its lack of a central point, of all major American cities, the sprawling megalopolis of Los Angeles does not conform to typical urban planning laws.

In the land of Hollywood, gang wars and beach bums, Los Angeles graffiti teems with the city¹s myriad cultural influences. From intricately tagged walls that seem to grow out of blooming roadside flower beds to spray-painted palm trees, Los Angeles Graffiti illustrates how the landscape of America's anti-city has fomented a distinct brand of graffiti, recognized the world over.

Compiled by Roger Gastman, author of Freight Train Graffiti and co-founder (with Shepard Fairey) of Swindle magazine, this colorful book benefits from Gastman¹s long-term, intimate involvement with L.A. graffiti writers. Recruiting friends, and graffiti legends, like SABER and RETNA, Los Angeles Graffiti documents the history of the unique, world-class graffiti scene that thrives in Los Angeles. In particular, the interview with L.A. graffiti luminary POWER breathes history into these photographs of work created by the famous, infamous, and anonymous.

And the Winner Is... "T.I. vs T.I.P." Debuts at #1 on Billboard 200

Second Consecutive Topper Is Year's Best Urban Premiere

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - July 11, 2007) - Grand Hustle/Atlantic recording artist T.I. is this week's big chart winner, as his eagerly anticipated new album, "T.I. vs T.I.P.," makes a triumphant #1 debut on the Billboard 200 album chart. With Nielsen SoundScan first-week sales of 468,000 copies, "T.I. vs T.I.P." scores as the biggest urban music premiere of the year, ranking second only to Linkin Park's "Minutes To Midnight" as the biggest debut thus far in '07. "T.I. vs T.I.P" also debuts at #1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and #1 on the SoundScan Rap Albums and Digital Albums charts.

"T.I. vs T.I.P." marks T.I.'s second consecutive #1 debut on the Billboard 200, following last year's breakthrough smash, "KING." Spurred by the success of "T.I. vs T.I.P.," Atlantic ranks as the #1 label in the music industry this week, according to SoundScan, garnering 12.38% of the current marketshare, nearly double that of the #2-ranked label.

The #1 success of "T.I. vs T.I.P." follows his win as Best Hip-Hop Artist at the "BET Awards 2007," held June 26th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles -- where T.I. performed his current top ten smash single, "Big Things Poppin' (Do It)." Coming up, T.I. will be a presenter at the ESPN's "2007 ESPY Awards," airing this Sunday, July 15th.

T.I. will personally herald the album's release by headlining the upcoming "Screamfest '07," slated to kick off August 3rd in New Orleans. The extravaganza -- which will also feature Ciara, T-Pain, Yung Joc, and others -- is scheduled to hit cities across the country, with stops including Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Detroit, Baltimore, and Washington, DC.

The companion video for "Big Things Poppin' (Do It)" is currently in Big Ten rotation at MTV, Heavy rotation on BET, Elite 8 on MTV2, Magna at mtvU, and Blazin' on MTV Jams. For the week leading up to its release, "T.I. vs T.I.P." was heard on MTV's "The Leak" album listening event -- becoming the biggest leak of the year. T.I. is currently ranked #1 on MySpace.com's "Top Artists" chart, with over 1.8 million friends, and his is the most-subscribed channel on YouTube.

T.I. is launching the first ever MMS collect-to-win mobile social community with T.I. Trading Cards. This mobile offering will allow consumers to purchase, collect, trade, and redeem unique mobile images for cash and prizes. Fans can subscribe to be collectors by texting "TI" to the short code 87233 (TRADE), or register online at http://cards.trapmuzik.com. Finally, July 3rd saw the long-awaited re-launch of the high-octane mobile game, "T.I. Street Racing," available via AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile.

T.I.'s "Big Things Poppin' (Do It)" is featured throughout July on ESPN SportsCenter's "Who's Now" series, in which fans and ESPN.com users will help determine the ultimate sports star by considering both on-field success and off-field buzz.

T.I. will follow his big-screen acting debut in last year's "ATL" by co-starring in what is undoubtedly among 2007's most anticipated new films, "American Gangster." Due November 2nd, the Ridley Scott-directed crime drama will see T.I. sharing the screen with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. A slate of further projects -- via T.I.'s own Grand Hustle Films -- will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Orchard and Digital Music Group (Nasdaq: DMGI) Agree to Merger

Combination Forms Powerful Global Digital Music and Video Marketing and Distribution Services Company

NEW YORK, and SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The Orchard Enterprises, Inc., a leading global digital distributor and marketer of music, and Digital Music Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:DMGI) , a content owner and leader in the digital distribution of music and video catalogues, today announced that the two companies have entered into a merger agreement. The combined business will retain DMGI's NASDAQ listing and change its name to The Orchard. Current Orchard president and chief executive Greg Scholl will lead the combined company.

The combined company will control a substantial catalogue of entertainment assets, with over one million music recordings available for sale and thousands of hours of television, film and video programming, and will be a market leader for independent distribution of digital music and video, with powerful marketing, promotion, distribution and operations capabilities throughout the world. The company will continue to serve artists, labels, music publishers, television, film and video library owners and other rights holders by developing new and inventive ways to market and sell digital content. In addition, for digital and mobile retailers, advertisers, consumer brands and technology companies, the company will continue to provide a single point of access to one of the world's largest and highest quality digital content catalogues that spans global superstars and niche and specialty artists, together with state-of-the-art marketing, promotion and programming capabilities.

The Orchard has changed traditional notions of "distribution" by pioneering a broad suite of client services, ranging from worldwide synchronization placement, to co-marketing initiatives with leading consumer brands, to global publishing administration. With operations in 25 countries and an ability to coordinate global programs within local markets, The Orchard has pioneered new forms of entertainment marketing for the digital media era. An impressive array of label clients take advantage of The Orchard's offering, ranging from leading North American independents like Discos Musart, Definitive Jux, Delicious Vinyl, Shanachie, Surfdog, SST, Smithsonian Folkways, Cleopatra Records, Norton Records, Park The Van/Cornerstone RAS and Dim Mak; leading European independents like Greensleeves, Fierce Panda, Sanctuary, Snapper, Proper Records and Nuclear Blast; and global non-Western powerhouses like Rotana, Saregama and Mu-Yap.

In addition to its own impressive catalogue of digital rights and master recordings, DMGI's music distribution and exclusive licensing partnerships span landmark independent labels including Kill Rock Stars, Ipecac and Barsuk Records, and leading artists ranging from hip-hop stars Daddy Yankee, Chamillionaire and Lil' Flip to classic rock and r&b including Johnny Cash, Ike and Tina Turner and The Commodores. The DMGI catalogue was significantly expanded by the acquisition of marquee digital music pioneer Digital Rights Agency (DRA) in September of 2006. DMGI has been an early-mover and market leader in licensing video under long-term contracts for digital exploitation, ranging from classic television favorites such as I Spy, The Bill Cosby Show, My Favorite Martian, Daniel Boone, The Super Dave Show, and The Mr. Bill Show; animated children's classics such as Gumby, Legend of the Dragon, Sonic The Hedgehog, Gigantor, and Batfink; comedy from Sam Kinison, Andrew Dice Clay, Pauly Shore, and Jamie Foxx; to contemporary content from superstar illusionist Criss Angel and wrestling icon Hulk Hogan. Mitchell Koulouris, who currently serves as chief executive of DMGI, will leave DMGI to pursue other interests, and Karen Davis, DMGI's chief financial officer, will serve as DMGI's interim chief executive officer until the closing of the merger.

"DMGI and The Orchard create a powerful combination in the rapidly growing digital media industry," said Greg Scholl. "There are substantial opportunities for combined revenue synergies and cost reductions. DMGI adds exciting new artists and record labels to The Orchard's already extensive music catalogue, and provides the combined company an immediate and significant leadership position in the digital distribution of independently owned TV, film and video content."

The Orchard's proprietary V.E.C.T.O.R. content delivery platform, launched in 2007, will be used to efficiently supply hundreds of digital retail and mastertone storefronts with the combined company's music catalogue and new music releases, as well as manage direct delivery of all video assets. Mr. Scholl added, "With this merger, we will provide our combined clients with an advanced global infrastructure of digital marketing, promotion and distribution resources, and we'll continue to serve as a true business partner to independent music labels, artists, music publishers and television, film and video library owners."

Mr. Scholl continued, "The combined financial resources of the two companies will be available to fuel future growth, innovation and co- investment. DMGI's owned library of digital rights and master recordings provides a natural platform for Orchard's expansion into co-production and other creative financing and development initiatives with our artist and label clients."

"The Orchard is the ideal partner to maximize the value of the extensive music and video assets that DMGI has assembled," said Clayton Trier, chairman of DMGI. "The Board of DMGI believes that this combination will create a powerful market leader that can drive value for our shareholders," added Mr. Trier.

For 2006, The Orchard had revenue of $14.9 million and gross profit of $4.2 million (according to its preliminary unaudited 2006 financial statements), and DMGI reported pro forma revenue of $10.2 million and gross profit of $2.4 million. For the first quarter of 2007, The Orchard had revenue of $5.6 million and gross profit of $1.4 million (according to its preliminary unaudited financial statements), and DMGI reported revenue of $3.4 million and gross profit of $0.8 million. Both companies operated at a net loss for the periods as they invested in people and processes to position for continued rapid growth.

As consideration for the acquisition of The Orchard, DMGI has agreed to issue 9,064,941 shares of common stock and 4,488,330 shares of convertible preferred stock to the shareholders of The Orchard, including its principal shareholder Dimensional Associates, LLC. Each share of preferred stock will be convertible into, and has voting rights equivalent to, one share of common stock, with a liquidation preference of $5.57. After five years, subject to certain conditions, the company can redeem all the preferred stock for $25 million. The shareholders of The Orchard will own approximately 60% of the voting shares outstanding (without considering shares reserved for stock options and warrants) upon closing of the merger. The Board of Directors of the combined company will consist of seven persons - three current DMGI board members including Clayton Trier, who will continue as chairman, three new directors chosen by Dimensional, and Greg Scholl.

Closing of the merger, which the parties anticipate will occur in the fourth quarter of 2007, is subject to normal and customary conditions, including an affirmative vote in favor of the merger by shareholders of DMGI holding at least 50% of the shares outstanding. A proxy statement containing full details of the transaction and pro forma combined financial information will be sent to DMGI shareholders following its submission to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Forward-Looking Statements

This release contains statements that are considered to be forward-looking statements within the meaning of federal securities law (including, without limitation, information regarding the combined companies' marketing, promotion, distribution and operations capabilities and the opportunity for combined revenue synergies and cost reductions) that involve risks and uncertainties that could cause the results of DMGI following the merger to differ materially from management's current expectations. Actual results could differ materially from those anticipated in such forward-looking statements as a result of many reasons, including risks, uncertainties and factors which include, but are not limited to:

  -- revenue and earnings expectations which are difficult to predict
     because of the companies' limited operating histories and emerging
     nature of the digital media industry;
  -- the companies' ability to successfully integrate operations and realize
     expected synergies and cost reductions;
  -- the companies' ability to successfully identify, acquire for a
     commercially reasonable valuation, and process additional catalogs of
     sound and video recordings;
  -- the companies' ability to successfully enter into new sales channel
     relationships;
  -- competitive and economic conditions in the digital media industry;
  -- acceptance and adoption of the digital format by consumers and
     potential changes in consumers' tastes and preferences in music and
     video, and the extent to which the companies' content will appeal to
     consumers;
  -- the companies' limited operating history in the acquisition, processing
     and sale of digital video recordings;
  -- the companies' limited ability to influence the pricing models of
     digital entertainment services;
  -- the companies' dependence on digital entertainment services to review,
     process and make all of its digital offerings available on a
     comprehensive and timely basis for purchase by consumers;
  -- the companies may not have proper legal title to the digital rights
     associated with music recordings the companies purchase or license, or
     others may claim to have such rights;
  -- potentially long delays in receiving the master recordings and videos
     that the companies acquire rights to;
  -- the companies' ability to renew multi-year agreements for digital
     rights to music and video content as they expire;
  -- music and video piracy;
  -- differing interpretations of and potential ambiguities in U.S.
     copyright laws;
  -- availability, terms and use of capital to continue to grow the
     companies' business; and
  -- maintaining adequate internal operating and financial controls over the
     companies' business and financial reporting.

Many of the factors listed above are and will be beyond the companies' control. Given these uncertainties, you should not place undue reliance on such forward-looking statements. The matters discussed in this press release also involve risks and uncertainties described in DMGI's most recent filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), including its Annual Report for 2006 on Form 10-K filed with the SEC on March 30, 2007 and its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q filed with the SEC on May 14, 2007. Digital Music Group and The Orchard assume no obligation to update the forward-looking information contained in this release.

Use of Non-GAAP Measures

Management of DMGI believes that non-GAAP revenue and gross profit presented on a pro forma basis for 2006 included in this release are useful measures of operating performance because they include the operations of DMGI and the operations of DMI and the Psychobaby catalog assets that were acquired on February 7, 2006, and the acquisition of DRA on September 8, 2006, as if they had all been acquired on January 1, 2006. However, these non-GAAP measures should be considered in addition to, not as a substitute for or superior to, revenue, gross profit or other financial measures prepared in accordance with GAAP. The GAAP-basis audited financial statements for DMGI for the year ended December 31, 2006 are included in DMGI's Annual Report on Form 10-K filed with the SEC on March 30, 2007.

Rawkus 50 Artist Atllas Establishes the Movement "Hood Famous"

Phoenix, AZ (July 10, 2007)—When Rawkus 50 artist Atllas released his single "Hood Famous" the song instantly became a classic street anthem and movement in Arizona. Atllas is ready to spread his message to all fifty states, so audiences everywhere can take a sneak peak into the lifestyle of an emcee from the streets of Arizona.

      The Arizona native is teaming up with power-player DJ Statik Selektah for his new mixtape entitled I'm Hood Famous. The proposal of being "Hood Famous" came a long way from being just a catchphrase. It became a lifestyle that people can relate to worldwide. Atllas taped a four part documentary about his everyday life in the hood.

      “Being Hood Famous is about recognizing that just because you're not
on TV doesn't mean you're not a star. It's about no matter where you are in life, if you do what you do well you will be recognized. We all have star potential.... even if you are just well known in your neighborhood. If you work a 9 to 5 and you stack your chips and throw some 24's on your car, if you always make sure you have a fresh pair of white on white's or your getting popping on your block...
That's being Hood Famous.....That is the movement,” Atllas described.

      Atllas has been featured in major publications such as XXL’s “Show and Prove” section and the Source’s “Independent’s Day”, as well as top websites such as Allhiphop.com and Hiphopdx.com. He is well-known for his appearance as a Rap Coach on MTV’s hit show Made, as well as his acclaimed independent releases in Arizona.

      CEO of Rawkus Records Brian Brater praises Atllas as being a, “talented song writer of great street music.”

      The album advance of Arizona Caesar was executive produced by Taurus Scott, who is managed by Sha Money XL and Money Management, and Co-Executive produced by DJ Kay Slay. Additional producers for the album include up and coming producer Natural from Indiana, as well as long time collaborator Strida Hiryu and D-boy from Phoenix, AZ.

      Atllas’ album Arizona Caesar is expected to be released in stores in September 2007 and can be downloaded now at www.myspace.com/atllas or at www.zune.net . Fans can watch the Hood Famous documentary at www.atllas.tv and purchase “I’m Hood Famous!” T-shirts on his website www.atllasonline.com . I’m Hood Famous hosted by DJ Statik Selektah will be available in Late Summer 2007.

Brooklyn-based hip-hop duo Iller Than Theirs To Release Debut Album on Embedded Music in September

(Brooklyn, NY – July 10, 2007) Independent record label Embedded Music will release the self-titled debut album of hip-hop duo Iller Than Theirs this fall.  Brooklyn-based Iller Than Theirs is a mellow opposition to the commoditization of hip-hop culture that has resulted in fake MC's peddling their own posturing while crazed billionaires buy up and tear down the old neighborhoods.  In a world that's growing more convoluted, complex, and corrupt, they've decided to respond with a simple, easygoing honesty of lyricism, free of pretension and thug theatrics. “We’re not saying that we’re better than anybody, alright?  We’re not better than nobody.  We’re just Iller.”

Iller Than Theirs is made up of Tone Tank and Krayo, artists from the Nuclear Family collective. Known as Nuk Fam for short, these New York-based musicians pride themselves on their unique humor and humility.   Nuk Fam boasts artists Junk Science, who released their debut Feeding Einstein in 2005, as well as Iller producers DJ Snafu, J. Howells Werthman, and Scott Thorough.  The album is set for bn release on September 18, on Embedded Music, and will feature guest appearances from Mastah Ace, Cool Calm Pete, and varied Nuk Fam artists.

Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan to unveil the long awaited debut from the Ice Water clique on August 28th via Babygrande Records

Highly anticipated album features Method Man, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Three Six Mafia, Remy Ma, Jagged Edge & more.

July 10th, 2007
Under the tutelage of Wu-Tang Clan's resident chef Raekwon, the four-man crew of Polite, Stomach, P.C. (Paulie Caskets) and D.C. (Donnie Cash) marks Staten Island's return to prominence as a hotbed for fresh, credible talent.  Die hard fans may remember Ice Water from their appearances on several tracks on Raekwon's last album, 2002's "The Lex Diamond Story," as well as their opening stints for the Chef on his subsequent 30+ state tour.  As Raekwon confirms, “We knew these cats had potential way back, but the timing wasn’t right. I always kept a radar on dudes, and when I felt they was ready mentally and lyrically, I helped ‘em get on.”

Raekwon compares his protracted development of the group to raising pitbulls: “I’m training these pits. I’ve got them on the treadmill, and I’m beating ‘em, feedin’ ‘em hot sauce and steaks, so they’re ready for this industry.”

Honed and focused, Ice Water’s debut, Raekwon presents…Ice Water: ”Polluted Water,” will finally be released on August 28th on Babygrande Records, home to such renowned and critically acclaimed talent as Hi-Tek, GZA, Jedi Mind Tricks, Immortal Technique and more.  Raekwon states, “Babygrande recognized that Wu is a brand, and we’ve got so many different divisions of rappers around us.”

But is Ice Water really ready for the spotlight?

The veteran multi-platinum selling MC speaks earnestly, justifying the time he’s taken to refine the quartet’s innate skills: “I can’t put my name on anything that I feel is not on my level. These dudes are on my level, that’s why I pushed for the project; I believe in them.”  A-listers such as Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Remy Ma, Three Six Mafia and Jagged Edge believed too, appearing on a number of the album’s tracks, which also features appearances from Rae himself and Method Man, along with production by such renowned producers as Scram Jones, Jagged Edge and EZ-Elpee.  According to Rae, the collaborations weren’t just a result of Rae’s industry stature: “Yea I pushed a couple of buttons.  Busta Rhymes, he’s a good friend of ours; but he knew where these dudes was at. Nobody would represent these guys if they didn’t have a good taste in they mouth about dudes”

Honing their craft for over a decade, Ice Water has paid their dues. Indeed, the release of "Polluted Water" marks both the return and rebirth of Staten Island hip-hop. The significance of the group’s long awaited emergence from the Wu-Tang Clan’s very own Shaolin stomping ground is not lost on Master Chef Raekwon: “At the end of the day, I knew I’d never build another dynasty with eight or nine dudes. But these dudes’ chemistry is perfect. This is the next dynasty.”

Raekwon presents…Ice Water: “Polluted Water” hits stores August 28th, 2007.

VH1 ANNOUNCES TWO UPCOMING TOURS COVERING DIVERSE GENRES OF MUSIC WITH 1ST ANNUAL "VH1 HIP HOP HONORS TOUR"

AND THE RETURN OF VH1's "YOU OUGHTA KNOW TOUR"

First Ever VH1 Hip Hop Honors Tour Features The Roots With Big Daddy Kane And MC Lyte

And You Oughta Know Tour Features Brandi Carlile With Special Guest A Fine Frenzy

Exclusive Ticket Pre-Sale For Both Tours Begins Wednesday, July 11 At TOURS.VH1.COM

NEW YORK, NY, July 10, 2007 – On the heels of its successful inaugural "You Oughta Know" tour, VH1 is hitting the road again with two different upcoming tours to bring the music and artists that VH1 viewers love directly to their hometowns.

The first-ever “VH1 Hip Hop Honors” tour will feature The Roots with MC Lyte and Big Daddy Kane along with special guests in every city.  This is the first tour that will help support a VH1 tentpole event and The Roots are presenting this tour in conjunction with VH1.  The Roots are also producing the tour and providing musical direction for all performances.  All headliners have a connection with VH1’s Hip Hop Honors show.  MC Lyte and Big Daddy Kane are both former honorees and The Roots have previously performed and provided musical backing with drummer Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson, acting as Musical Director.  VH1.com will offer an exclusive ticket pre-sale beginning Wednesday, July 11 for the month-long tour which kicks off the first show in San Francisco on September 13.  The final show of the tour will be in New York City on October 5 at the Nokia Theatre, kicking off Hip Hop Honors Weekend in New York.

Last spring, VH1 expanded its successful “You Oughta Know” new music promotion franchise to concert halls across the country with its first-ever “You Oughta Know” tour featuring Mat Kearney and special guests The Feeling and Rocco DeLuca & The Burden.  The tour was a hit and VH1 is proud to give the ladies a turn this time with the second YOK tour featuring Brandi Carlile with special guest A Fine Frenzy.  VH1.com will offer an exclusive ticket pre-sale beginning Wednesday, July 11 for the 2 month-long tour which will cover 32 markets and kicks off September 6 in Eugene, Oregon.

VH1's You Oughta Know franchise, launched originally on VH1.com in late 2004 introduces artists on the rise to the channel’s adult music lover base via VH1, VH1.com and off-air marketing campaigns.  This highly acclaimed franchise has helped break many artists such as Amy Winehouse, James Blunt, The Fray, KT Tunstall and Corinne Bailey Rae and has proven to have an impact on their record sales.

Tickets for both tours can be purchased beginning July 11 through an exclusive online pre-sale at tours.vh1.com.  Beginning July 13, tickets will also be made available in select cities through Ticketmaster in addition to tours.vh1.com.   Please check with each individual club for its specific ticketing information.

By taking the sounds traditionally produced by old-school DJs--spare breakbeats, scratch squiggles, burly bass lines--and recreating them in the organic context of a traditional live band, the Roots presented themselves at once as visionaries and rigid traditionalists. In the process, they also helped raise the barometer of possibilities for rap in a live context.  The Roots rose out of Philly, where lyricist Tariq Trotter (Black Thought) and drummer Ahmir-Khalib Thompson (?uestlove) attended the Philadelphia High School For Creative And Performing Arts with members of Boyz II Men, as well as bassist Christian McBride and organist Joey DeFrancesco, both of whom would go on to become jazz stars. In 1989, the two organized a loose-knit crew of rappers called the Foreign Objects and started playing gigs in Philly as the Roots. The members' familiarity with styles outside of hip-hop became evident as the band evolved, and by the time they dropped Organix (released independently overseas) and then their major label debut Do You Want More?!!!??!, the Roots' music had become a heady hybrid of rap and jazz.

As a 2006 VH1 Hip Hop Honors honoree, MC Lyte (born Lana Michele Moorer) hails from Brooklyn, New York, and is considered to be one of the greatest female emcees. She released her first single, "I Cram to Understand U (Sam)", at the age of 12 which led to a record contract with First Priority records. She was one of the first female rappers to acknowledge the sexism and misogyny that often runs rampant in hip-hop, often taking the subject head on lyrically in her songs.  Her success also helped open the door for future female artists like Queen Latifah and Missy Elliott.  She was also the first rapper to perform at Carnegie Hall, as well as the first rap artist to tour for the USO, performing for troops stationed in Italy, Greece, Sicily, and Sardinia.  Like many of her music contemporaries, Lyte’s successful run as a hip hop artist has also opened up doors for her on the small screen.  She starred as Kai, which was a recurring role on UPN’s sitcom “Half and Half.” In February of 2006, her diary was donated to the Smithsonian Institution for a collection that will trace the history of the Bronx-born music genre.

Emerging during hip-hop's massive creative expansion of the late '80s, Big Daddy Kane was the ultimate lover man of rap's first decade.  Born in Brooklyn as Antonio Hardy, the stage name "Kane" was an acronym for King Asiatic Nobody's Equal. In 1984, he met Biz Markie, and Kane would go on to co-write some of Biz's best-known raps, and both eventually became important members of the Queens-based Juice Crew, a collective headed by renowned producer Marley Marl. Kane signed with Marl's Cold Chillin' label in 1987 and debuted the following year with the 12" single "Raw," which became an underground sensation. His first album, "Long Live the Kane," was equally well-received, producing another underground classic in "Ain't No Half-Steppin'."

Kane consolidated his success with 1989's "It's a Big Daddy Thing," which spawned his most effective love-man song in "Smooth Operator." Kane possessed a rhyming technique honed from numerous B-boy battles and laced with Afrocentric consciousness-raising verses in the philosophy of the Nation of Islam's Five Percent school. He maintained his sex-symbol status by posing for Madonna's notorious 1992 photo book "Sex," as well as Playgirl magazine. His best material ranks among the finest hip-hop of its era, and his sex-drenched persona was enormously influential on countless future would-be players.

Brandi Carlile was named one of Rolling Stone magazine's "10 Artists to Watch in 2005" after the release of her eponymous debut album.  Brandi has since upped the ante on that designation with the release of her follow-up The Story.  Produced by Grammy Award-winner T Bone Burnett (Counting Crows, Roy Orbison) The Story captures the intensity and authenticity of Carlile's live concerts in 13 unforgettable songs.  The album's first single, "The Story," is sitting in the top-5 song on AAA radio while it continues to develop and move up the Hot AC charts.  In the true sense of artist development, Brandi has spent the better part of two years on the road selling out headlining shows from coast to coast and supporting a wide variety of artists such as the Indigo Girls, Ray LaMontagne, The Fray and Shawn Colvin.  The hit ABC television series "Grey's Anatomy" featured a special version of "The Story" music video by combining series highlights with Brandi's performance video.  Brandi has also garnered national and regional press through out the country including a national television run on late night and morning shows and what USA Today describes her voice as "…undeniably impressive and distinctive, mixing a catch-in-the-throat rootsiness with a full, slightly brassy vibrato…"

A Fine Frenzy is the music of 22 year-old Alison Sudol.  Born in Seattle to dramatic-arts teacher parents, she developed a strong love for the fantastic literary worlds of CS Lewis, Charles Dickens and others, while becoming a passionate author in her own right. She immersed herself in classical music, Motown, Aretha Franklin, swing bands, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Louis Armstrong, the Beatles, Technicolor movies and classic 1950's television. After teaching herself to play piano, she found solace in the new global British bands Aqualung, Radiohead, Coldplay and Keane, etc... She was also moved by the diatonic minimalism of Philip Glass and the transportive allure of Icelandic music (Bjork, Sigur Ros.) Inspired, Alison developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.  A Fine Frenzy's debut album "One Cell in the Sea" will be released by Capitol Records Group on July 17, 2007.

Please log onto tours.VH1.com for more information about all the artists, tour dates, and to buy tickets.

Mathew Knowles Partners With Planet Toys to Co-Create and Launch the First Ever Hip-Hop/Rhythm Inspired Toy Line for Babies and Preschoolers

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - July 10, 2007) - Mathew Knowles' Music World Entertainment has partnered with Planet Toys to launch the first ever hip-hop/rhythm inspired preschool toy line promoting creativity, learning and movement through music. Mr. Knowles, who has made it a top priority to create and release "child-friendly" music content over the past year with his Kid's Rap Radio series, has brought to fruition this groundbreaking line of innovative, educational and musically stimulating toys. The line, Baby Jamz, will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart stores beginning July 26, 2007.

"Baby Jamz allows children to have toys that they can identify with and enjoy. Many children love music and dancing to hip-hop, so we have creatively combined great toys with the hip-hop versions of popular nursery rhymes. My grandson Juelz was the inspiration for this idea and I am especially excited that most of the Nursery Rhymes are sung by my daughter, Solange Knowles," says Mathew Knowles, president and CEO of Music World Entertainment.

A CD release, "Nursery Rhymes Volume 1," will accompany the line which will include nursery rhyme favorites such as "This Old Man," "Old MacDonald," and "Skip To My Lou" with a new hip-hop adaptation.

Baby Jamz in a line inspired through the Knowles family. Mathew's daughter, Solange Knowles, provides voice to the line singing many of the nursery rhymes played within the toys and on the CD. Solange's son, Juelz, is the face of Baby Jamz, seen on the product packaging and in its ads.

Including the CD, a few of the products to appear in approximately 1,300 Wal-Mart locations include:

--  Baby Jamz Cell Phone:  A product staple in the preschool aisle, the
    Baby Jamz cell phone appears to have many buttons to dial but is designed
    for easy and fun musical stimulation.  Toddlers need only to press one of
    two large buttons to hear "Old MacDonald," "Buckle My Shoe" and "Mary Had A
    Little Lamb."

--  Baby Jamz Dance Mat (Nursery Rhymes Sung By Solange Knowles):  The
    Jamz Dance Mat inspires kids to dance to 36 seconds of classic nursery
    rhymes "Bingo," "Mary Had A Little Lamb" and "This Old Man" in hip-hop
    tempo, providing seven different spots on the mat to step, dance and create
    their own unique rendition.  The mat provides hours of endless fun and
    physical activity.

--  Baby Jamz Key Chain:  This classic perennial preschool item has three
    different buttons to play hip-hop nursery melodies.  Two outside keys have
    flip out buttons to expand and fold back to create a real "feel" of keys.
    Pulling the middle key creates the sound of a starting car.

--  Baby Jamz Boom Box Shape Sorter (Nursery Rhymes Sung By Solange
    Knowles):  Baby Jamz Boom Box Musical Shape Sorter engages children to
    complete three different hip-hop nursery rhymes by placing square, triangle
    and circle LED light up blocks in the right order.  The microphone has
    three buttons that a child can press to emit cool add-in sounds to each
    song.  "Boomer" the boom box has a friendly, fun animated appearance.
    Nursery rhymes played within are "Hip-Hop Buckle My Shoe," "Twinkle Twinkle
    Little Star," and "Wheels On The Bus."

--  Baby Jamz Mix Master Chair (Nursery Rhymes Sung By Solange Knowles):
    The anticipated "hero" item in this year's Baby Jamz line is the Baby Jamz
    Mix master Chair.  Every child is a DJ with his or her own Mix Master
    Chair.  Four numbered light up buttons deliver cool add-in sounds to the
    child's choice of nursery rhyme.  When a child sits in the chair and on a
    yellow note in the seat, all buttons come to life.  Kids can create several
    renditions of each nursery rhyme by pressing three different buttons that
    light up and provide hours of fun.

Moderati and KOCH Entertainment Partner to Bring UNK, Jim Jones and DJ Khaled to a Ringtone Near You

- The Hottest Independent Music Label and the Leader in Ringtones Sign Exclusive Deal to Bring Top-Notch Tunes Directly to Cell Phones -

July 10, 2007
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Some of today's biggest recording artists, including UNK, Jim Jones, DJ Khaled and more, are coming to cell phones around the nation this summer. KOCH Entertainment, the fastest growing independent music label, and mobile industry leader Moderati Inc. have joined forces in an exclusive deal to bring music lovers the most sought-after ringtones of KOCH artists to all major carriers in the United States. The exclusive deal further solidifies Moderati’s position as the top provider of wireless content to the decks of the largest U.S. carriers.

For the sixth year in a row, KOCH Entertainment has secured more charted titles than any other independent label. Recently, KOCH had four songs on Billboard’s Top 100 Digital songs chart, and five ringtones in Nielsen Ringscan’s Top 100 realtones chart. Jim Jones’ “We Fly High” was the first realtone from an independent label to reach Number One on Billboard’s Hot Ringmasters chart.

The agreement will also bring Moderati access to hit mobile content from KOCH Entertainment’s industry-leading roster of independent distributed labels—including Midas Records act Emerson Drive, whose hit single “Moments” recently debuted at number one on the Billboard country charts.

Jonas Gerber, senior vice president of business development for Moderati, states, “KOCH Entertainment is a hip-hop powerhouse, recently earning platinum ringtone awards for UNK and Jim Jones, resulting in a cumulative 7.5 percent share of Nielsen Top 200 Mastertone sales since the chart debuted last December. Moderati is proud to have been chosen as the exclusive representative to the major carriers of this outstanding catalog.”

”Over the past year, Moderati’s aggressive efforts on behalf of our artists has been crucial to KOCH’s breakaway success in mobile music,” said Bill Crowley, KOCH vice president of special markets. “Most recently, Moderati has orchestrated the major wireless carrier campaigns that last week took UNK’s second single, `2 Step' past the Gold Mastertone mark. KOCH is pleased to broaden our close relationship with Moderati, and we view this exclusive mobile deal as a key element in our drive to build the smartest and best 21st century music company.”

Since the beginning of 2007, UNK’s “Walk it Out” and Jim Jones’ “We Fly High” have both achieved Platinum status as both Realtones and Digital Downloads for sales of over 1 million each. Over the coming months, KOCH will deliver new music from Keith Murray, Kafani, Montana, The Diplomats’ Hell Rell, separate solo releases from D-Block’s Sheek Louch, Styles P and J-Hood, as well as Dead Prez, The Alchemist, and several planned Wu Tang Clan projects.
