LOS ANGELES...July 5, 2007  Universal Music Latino has launched Rebel Music Group, a new joint venture with Jack Gonzalez aka "Sick Jacken", the frontman of L.A. based rap group Psycho Realm. In doing so, the label has made a defining move in positioning itself as the leader in Latin hop-hop music by aligning itself with one of the most respected names in the underground hip-hop scene.

“We are very excited to be able to work with RMG. We admire the talent and credibility of Jack and his team and are happy that we can be a part of this new stage in his career,” comments John Echevarria, President of Universal Music Latino.

The new partnership with Gonzalez and the Psycho Realm brings Universal Music Latino an alliance with one of the most influential brands in rap music. The group has already solidified itself as an international phenomenon, selling hundreds of thousands of albums and selling out shows in the United States, Latin America, Europe and Japan, all without the backing of a major record label. Joining Sick Jacken as the General Manager of RMG is Tone Lopez who has managed Psycho Realm for the last three years and will be influential in mapping out the direction that the label will take. “We are excited and prepared for all the challenges that lie ahead with this joint venture” stated Lopez. Also on board are Joey Castillo as the Creative Director and Big Tiny as the label’s Art Director. Both Castillo and Big Tiny have been a big part of the day-to-day activities of Psycho Realm and the various projects that they have been able to roll out in the last few years and are ready for the new tasks that lie ahead.

The first release from RMG will be DJ Muggs VS Sick Jacken “The Legend of the Mask and The Assassin”, a concept album that marks the first time that members of Cypress Hill and Psycho Realm have collaborated since the release of the Psycho Realm debut album in 1997. The album is already one of the most highly anticipated releases in the West Coast hip-hop scene and will fuse Sick Jacken’s unparalleled lyrical skills with the production of hip-hop legend DJ Muggs, a pioneer in the genre. The album will be released on August 21, 2007 and will include the two Spanish-language tracks. A full length Spanish-language Psycho Realm album be released in 2008.

Hiero Announces Bay-Area Rapper Knobody as First Signing to New Triple i League

(Brooklyn, NY July 3, 2007) Oakland, California-based Hiero Imperium Records announces Bay Area rapper Knobody as the first artist signing to its new Triple i League.  The Hiero Imperium Triple i League is Hiero's version of a Major League Baseball farm team.  With the goal of providing a kickstart for fresh talent, the seasoned vets at Hiero are bringing their A&R and business expertise to the table and scouting the best undiscovered talent in the Bay and beyond.

In an industry where it's common to see undiscovered talent get signed under a major label artist's label only to get trapped in a financially parasitic situation, Hiero CEO Tajai Massey makes it clear that this program is nothing like the typical industry contracts that exploit up-and-coming artists.  Instead, the program is about taking artists who already have a complete package and mentoring them on the business side of the industry so that they can be capable of controlling their own careers and become the CEOs of tomorrow. "Hiero isn't looking to help polish lyrics or build from the ground up. Triple i League contenders must already be complete artists who are ready to move on to the next level," remarks Tajai.

New recruits must go through a rigorous regimen of trials and exercises in the Hiero Compound in East Oakland before being formally accepted as team members of the Triple i League. In keeping with the Hieroglyphics' aesthetic, a candidate needs to be lyrically adept and have depth to their music. Tajai explains, "We're looking for people that can bring honesty and integrity to the plate. Emcees with made-up images need not apply because that sort of artifice can be hard to maintain. Honesty about who you are and where you come from is the number one quality that will get you ahead in this game."

Knobody came to the attention of Hiero's resident A&R man, Casual, at a show that he was performing at in 2006.  Casual couldn't stop listening to the CD that Knobody gave him, and within weeks Knobody was signed to Hiero Imperium as the first member of the Triple i League crew.  Casual has high praise for him.  "Knobody's well of rhymes runs deep.  The only other emcee I've heard who can consistently flow on the same subject throughout a song without having to switch up is Eminem."

Knobody's first album on Hiero, Tha Clean Up, will be released on September 18, 2007.  Tha Clean Up is a heavy hitting, cohesive album that aims to do what a clean-up hitter does on a baseball team: smack some balls out of the park.  Starting off with a voicemail from Knobody's cousin assuring the listener that the following tracks are "hella tight," the album is Knobody's declaration that he will do what he wants whether you like it or not.  With heady lyrics and the production savvy of Da Beathoven (Scion/Roland 2007 King of the Beats Champion, Federation, Wu-Tang, Sik Wid It Records), the first single "What U Think" is a confident, take-no-prisoners anthem for staying true to yourself and doing your own thing - "wit life in tha pen / every page a breath / my last days / so its only a coupla pages left / I said fuck it / raise tha stakes / I done made my bets / im all in / I’l see ya struggle & I raise u stress"

NIKE to Donate Proceeds From Original Air Force 1 Songs to Local Baltimore Charities

Nike-Commissioned Tracks Available on iTunes Benefit Baltimore's Boys & Girls Club of America

BEAVERTON, Ore., July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As part of its continuous efforts to support youth sport programs, all NIKE and artists' proceeds from the sale of the original Air Force 1 song "Classic -- Better Than I've Ever Been" will go to the NIKE Youth Sport for Change Fund to support two chapters of Baltimore's Boys & Girls Club of America -- Jackson Unit Boys & Girls Club of America and The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of America.

The song, which was released in February as part of Nike's 25th year anniversary celebration of the Air Force 1 and can be purchased exclusively on iTunes, features award winning hip hop artists Kanye West, Nas, Rakim and KRS-ONE and was produced by hip hop producer DJ Premier. Recently, the track was added into regular rotation at some of the nation's top urban radio stations including New York's HOT 97. An original version of the track featuring Kanye West, Nas and KRS-ONE with production by music icon Rick Rubin also appears on iTunes. In addition to the songs being available for download, fans can check out the video for the remix version of "Classic" on several networks including BET and MTV.

Known for the pivotal role it played in the popularity of the Air Force 1, Baltimore is home to three of the original Air Force 1 retailers including Downtown Locker Room. In Baltimore the love for the Air Force 1 took the form of a groundswell of support that emerged in the early 80s and eventually spread all over the world. The presence of the shoe on all sides of town turned the AF1 into Baltimore's shoe of choice, a revolutionary footwear product that spoke volumes about the city's love for basketball and made Baltimore a key player in the subsequent resurrection of the Air Force 1 and the flourish of basketball culture.

In addition to downloading "Classic -- Better Than I've Ever Been" on iTunes, music fans can download another original Nike song -- "The Second Coming". "The Second Coming" features music by award winning producer Just Blaze and lyrics by Juelz Santana. The song was part of Nike's most recent basketball campaign entitled "The Second Coming -- Our Game, Our Time," which highlighted the brand's latest signature basketball sneaker -- the Air Force 25.

Since the release of the two Nike-commissioned songs, the tracks have been downloaded more than 85,000 times on iTunes.

ROCK STEADY CREW CELEBRATES 30th ANNIVERSARY

Red Bull Present Rock Steady Crew Anniversary Event July 23rd - 29th; Events Taking Place In Manhattan, The Bronx With A Free Concert At Lincoln Park In Newark

June 29th, 2007- It was announced today the Rock Steady Crew (RSC), the premier Hip Hop group, is celebrating 30 years of breaking. For the 30th, the legendary b-boy and RSC President Crazy Legs and crew are planning some special additions and surprises for their anniversary celebration. This will include the best b-boys and girls, DJ sets and training, art shows, panels, after parties and, of course, free concerts. Key events will be taking place in Manhattan, the Bronx and, as part of the 2nd Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival, Newark (a partial event list follows). Frienemies
Frienemies about representing in the ciphers. Every b-boy and b-girl is on their own! No preset battles. In the early to mid 80's, breaking was at an all time high throughout the world. Crews were rolling thick and a lot of them got along. The only time they didn't get along was when it was time to battle in the club. Rock Steady Crew and New York City Breakers were going to Places like Negril, The Roxy, Kennedy High School and other places where jams were going down. No one was worried about hurting any ones feelings or concerned with battling their own friends with a fierce will to win. We were all "FRIENEMIES". 'Frienemies" is the place to battle that person that you chill with on a regular basis and show him that he's not as good as he brags about all the time.

24 year old Hip-Hop sensation, SHEA Gears up For the Release of his Debut Single

Englewood Cliffs, NJ- June 19, 2007 –The Bronx, hip-hop's Mecca, is about to see another one of its own become a star! Twenty-four-year-old Shea was born in the borough and then raised in Westchester County and in North Carolina where he went to Laurinburgh High School. He got his first taste of the entertainment world when he was only 12 and cast in the feature film Eddie with Oscar-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg. With a multitude of talents, Shea had to decide whether to shine on the court or on the stage; Shea chose the latter, marking the takeoff of his musical career.

Five years ago, Shea landed a recording deal with Big Daddy Records, but he soon outgrew the label. With the development of Stay Laist Records, Shea now has a larger platform on which to develop and showcase his talents. Stay Laist Records was founded by Shea's brother, Tony "VIP" Lopez, Jr.. Tony V.I.P. has been in the game for a while producing tracks for Swizz Beats, Dip Set, Peter Gunz, and Lord Tariq as well as newcomers Mims and Cassidy.
