FLA-Based Rap Sensation Unveils New Video Online as "Hypnotized (Feat. Akon)" Climbs the Charts
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - December 7, 2007) - Big Gates/Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic recording artist Plies continues to earn accolades and honors for his explosive debut album, "THE REAL TESTAMENT." The collection -- which features the hit singles, "Shawty (Feat. T-Pain)" and "Hypnotized (Feat. Akon)" -- entered the Billboard 200 at #2 upon its release last summer.
The Ft. Myers, Florida-bred rapper was named "Best New Artist" at last month's 2007 Dirty Awards, beating out such names as Soulja Boy, Hurricane Chris, and Gorilla Zoe. Plies was the unquestionable star of the annual ATL event, stealing the show with three crowd pleasing live performances. Earlier this fall, the rapper launched www.BidLong.com, an online community blog that expresses his concerns regarding the prison system in this country. The site not only features updates from Plies himself, but it will also be a forum for fans to express their own feelings about incarceration and personal stories.
"Hypnotized (Feat. Akon)" is proving to be another blockbuster for Plies, exploding into the top 5 at Rhythmic outlets nationwide with the week's #2 Most Increased Plays. The single -- which is now in a competitive race to the top of the Rhythmic chart -- has also begun blowing up at CHR/Top 40, with adds coming at a number of hugely influential stations, including Los Angeles' renowned 102.7 KIIS-FM.
In addition, "Hypnotized" now joins Plies' #1 smash, "Shawty (Feat. T-Pain)," on a variety of other charts, including "Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay," "Latin Rhythmic Airplay," "Hot Digital Songs," "Hot Rap Tracks," "Hot Digital Tracks," and "Pop 100."
