CLINTON, Md., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Reverend Al Sharpton, the highly respected civil rights leader and President of the National Action Network will be preaching during the 11:00 a.m. worship experience at Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, MD on Sunday, November 11, 2007.
Rev. Delman L. Coates, Ph.D., is the Pastor of the Mt. Ennon Baptist Church and the organizer of the Enough is Enough Campaign, an initiative to protest the corporate sponsorship of lyrics and images that degrade women, glorify violence and criminal activity, and negatively stereotype black and Latino men as "pimps," "gangsters," and "thugs" in the entertainment industry. For the past two months, the Enough Is Enough campaign has been holding weekly rallies outside the Washington, DC residence of Debra Lee, CEO of Black Entertainment Television, and the New York City residence of Philippe Dauman, CEO of Viacom.
As the Enough Is Enough Campaign continues to get national attention, Rev. Sharpton’s visit to Mt. Ennon Baptist Church as the Sunday morning speaker represents the civil rights leader’s support for Rev. Coates and the Enough Is Enough Campaign. Over 1,500 parishioners are expected to be in attendance. Sharpton’s National Action Network has its own "Decency Initiative" which seeks to challenge offensive lyrics and messages in the hip-hop industry.
The campaign is inviting the hip-hop community, women’s groups, Latino organizations, the faith community, and all those concerned to join the weekly rallies. There is One Rally in Two Locations – New York and DC. Visit the Enough Is Enough Campaign website @ www.EnoughIsEnoughCampaign.com for details and directions.
