New specialty area to combine with civil litigation section
October 22, 2007
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Noted Atlanta criminal defense attorney Steve Sadow is teaming up with Schulten Ward & Turner, LLP, as special counsel for white-collar and high-profile criminal defense matters. Sadow will work with SW&T partner Kevin Ward by combining his criminal defense expertise with the firm's high-powered civil litigation section.
Sadow's reputation precedes him as an attorney and credible media source for white-collar and high-profile criminal defense matters on a local and national scale. Notable cases in which Sadow has played an integral part include a nightclub shooting following the Super Bowl in Atlanta that allegedly involved Baltimore Ravens player Ray Lewis, and racketeering cases against former Atlanta mayor Bill Campbell and the former owner of the Gold Club, a since closed Atlanta night spot that catered to high-profile athletes and celebrities. Sadow is currently a member of the defense team for rapper T.I., who has generated national attention after being charged in federal court with weapons possession.
According to managing partner Scott Schulten, "This new alliance gives SW&T the defense capability usually associated with a large law firm, uniquely combined with the cost-efficiency, versatility and trial-tested know-how of a true litigation firm. To us, this means 'big firm' quality representation delivered by a 'boutique' firm."
Sadow, who is recognized in the upcoming 2008 edition of Best Lawyers in America in the areas of white-collar and non-white collar criminal defense, said he will empower SW&T by not only guiding its clients through the criminal process utilizing creative strategies and successful execution by way of trial or settlement, but by rendering immediate, on-the-go, expert advice when confronted with emergency situations.
Sadow, who has been a criminal defense attorney for more than 25 years, and who has never been a prosecutor, said he was especially attracted to Schulten Ward & Turner, one of the fastest-growing firms in Atlanta, because of its approach to representation.
"SW&T and I will strive to reverse the overriding perception that business-related criminal defense work can only be done by ex-prosecutors. White-collar and high-profile clients need representation by lawyers who have devoted their careers to defending the accused, not by lawyers whose career experience consists of trying to take away the freedom and liberty of criminal defendants," he said.
Schulten Ward & Turner is an Atlanta-based multi-service law firm formed in 1986. For information about services and practice areas see www.swtlaw.com or call 404-688-6800.
