(PRWEB) October 16, 2007 -- The Notables -- Carnegie Hall's membership program for music enthusiasts in their 20s and 30s -- host a provocative discussion and multimedia event exploring the intersection of the music and fashion industries over the past 40 years on Monday, October 22 at 8:00 p.m. in Zankel Hall.
Entitled interSEXtion: rock & roll * runway * retrospective, the evening features a panel discussion moderated by fashion commentator and Barneys New York Creative Director Simon Doonan. Panelists include designer Zac Posen, designer/stylist Patricia Field, photographer Mark Seliger, punk rock icon Tommy Ramone, and lifestyle entrepreneur Damon Dash. The event culminates with a retrospective slideshow of Mr. Seliger's work, which includes images of such iconic figures as Bono, David Bowie, Eminem, Johnny Cash, Jennifer Lopez, and Bob Dylan. Immediately following the event at Zankel Hall, attendees are invited to an exclusive after-party at D'Or at Amalia sponsored by p.i.n.k. vodka.

About the Panel:
At 35-years-old, Damon Dash has constructed a business empire, which began with the powerhouse Roc-A-Fella Records and has since spurred the creation of a number of influential brands under his new venture--Damon Dash Enterprises. The enterprise includes apparel, entertainment, publishing, film, spirits, and a non-profit community outreach foundation. At the age of 21, Dash was introduced to Brooklyn rapper, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, who would later become his business partner in Roc-A-Fella Records. After selling his stake in Roc-A-Fella Records, Dash founded the Damon Dash Music Group, which now boasts a diverse collection of artists from hip-hop to rock to soul, including international reggae super-star Sizzla and rising star Jasmine, among others.
Simon Doonan is a style commentator with over 30 years experience in the world of fashion. He is a regular guest on VH1, America's Next Top Model, Full Frontal Fashion, and Sirius Satellite Radio. As Creative Director of Barneys New York, Mr. Doonan is responsible for all aspects of Barneys image. He is best known for his sometimes-controversial windows, which have been a Barneys trademark since 1985, and for his provocative "Simon Says" column in the New York Observer. He has written three books: Confessions of a Window Dresser (1998), Wacky Chicks; Life Lessons From Fearlessly Inappropriate and Fabulously Eccentric Women (2003), and Nasty: My family and other glamorous varmints (2005).
Patricia Field is considered one of fashion's greatest visionaries. Not only is she an award-winning film and television costume designer, she has her own clothing label and has owned her eponymous, cutting edge boutique since 1966. Ms. Field raised the standards for the world of television glamour when she costumed Sex in the City, the most fashionable show in television history. Her work as acting Costume Designer for the feature film The Devil Wears Prada earned her an Academy Award nomination in 2006. Ms. Field has been honored with two Emmys; the CFDA Stylist of the Year award, a category created specifically on the principle of Patricia's work in the field; the Albert Einstein Award for innovation; and Fashion Council's Accessories Award.
Designer Zac Posen was raised in lower Manhattan, the son of Stephen Posen, an artist, and Susan Posen, a corporate lawyer. At age fourteen, he attended the pre-college program at Parson's School of Design. For three years, Mr. Posen was mentored by curator Richard Martin at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. At eighteen he was accepted into the womenswear degree program at London's Central Saint Martins University. Shortly after his return to New York in 2001, he was chosen to present a capsule collection as part of GenArt's "Fresh Face in Fashion". In February 2002, Mr. Posen debuted his ready-to-wear collection in New York City. Zac Posen is now a global luxury lifestyle brand presenting four ready-to-wear collections per year. The collection, which is comprised of day wear, suiting and evening wear, is for a sophisticated, feminine, strong woman of a diverse age range. In addition to ready-to-wear, the Zac Posen luxury vocabulary also includes fur, leg wear, body wear, shoes, and handbags. Mr. Posen is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, most notably the CFDA's 2004 Swarovski/Perry Ellis Award for ready-to-wear.
Punk rock icon Tommy Ramone began his musical career as Tommy Erdelyi, an engineer at the Record Plant. Born in Budapest, Hungary, and raised in Forest Hills, Queens, he co-founded The Ramones with Johnny, Joey, and Dee Dee and participated in the birth of punk and indie-rock, working as the band's drummer, producer, and manager. He has also produced recordings by the Talking Heads, Redd Kross, and the Replacements. Currently, he is performing in the critically acclaimed progressive bluegrass duo Uncle Monk.
Photographer Mark Seliger's editorial career began in 1987 with Rolling Stone, where he focused on conceptual portraiture and shot over 125 covers. After ten years as the magazine's chief photographer, Mr. Seliger left Rolling Stone to become a contributing photographer for Condé Nast's Vanity Fair and GQ. He is also a regular contributor to L'Uomo Vogue, Vogue Hommes, and Interview. Seliger has published several books of his photography, including When They Came to Take my Father; Voices from the Holocaust (1996); Physiognomy (1999), an anthology of his work from the Rolling Stone years; and In My Stairwell (2005), a collection of portraits of mainstream and peripheral artists all shot in the stairwell of his Greenwich Village studio. Seliger's work has been displayed in museums and galleries worldwide and last year he co-founded a non-profit exhibition space for photographers called 401 Projects.
