New York, NY – September 20, 2007 – In the week following the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, the impact of memorable VMA performances by renowned artists including Justin Timberlake, Common, Nelly Furtado, Gym Class Heroes, Timbaland, Fall Out Boy, Chris Brown, Foo Fighters, 50 Cent, and Rihanna resulted in huge increases in album sales, single / iTunes sales, radio airplay and strong engagement with artists on Rhapsody.com.
"Alicia Key’s performance at the 2007 VMAs has ignited ‘No One’ at radio in the US where it has gone from 27 million in audience the day before the show to a 43 million increase today," said Lou Robinson, SVP/RCA Music Group. "The song was the most added at rhythm radio this week which is amazing because there were only a handful of stations who were interested before the show aired. Overwhelmingly, the reason they gave for the about face is the MTV VMA’s and the audience’s reaction."
